A couple of mashups. ABBA vs Van Halen with 'Super Jumper'. Possibly not the one Frida's wearing though.
This is such an obvious mashup to attempt and it works really well. AZZA.

Hi Tony, There are a couple of Facebook sites specifically for fans who want to buy, sell or simply giveaway ABBA recordings and memorabilia. Unlike Ebay and Amazon, they are cutting out the dealers and other self imposed middlemen. You are also free to ask advice on what something may be worth and if prices are rising or falling in the market for certain items.

A little concerning that she had a walking cane with her. Hopefully it's for a temporary injury and nothing too serious.

Thanks for these Contro. Interesting that she seems to have been appearing at Stockholm venues as a solo singer at the same time that she was in the Gunnar Sandevarn band and later her own group, the Anni-Frid Four.

Here it is. Clever integration of 'I've Been Waiting For You' towards the end. Matt Pop's ABBA remixes on Youtube often fall foul of the UMG watchdogs so I've put the Vimeo link up too.

Probably a wise move by Bjorn. Regardless of how much, or even if this venture damages ABBA's 'legacy', it certainly would have been unseemly to become embroiled in a prolonged battle with the residents leading to bad feeling even if successful. The search for an alternative site is on.
www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/bjorn-pulls-out-of-abba-themed-south-bank-theatre-restaurant-plan-after-campaign-by-residents/
Björn said: “Everything that Mamma Mia! has done – from its conception more than 20 years ago, to the new film being made right now – has been charged with positive energy. That’s why I am hugely excited to bring Mamma Mia! The Party to London and hope to do so in Spring 2019 as planned.
“However I have reached the conclusion that the party should not open on the South Bank near Waterloo. Despite being granted planning permission in November 2017, I’ve taken seriously the concerns expressed by some local residents living around Stamford Street and so have decided not to go ahead with our plans on this site.
“We have been looking at some equally exciting alternatives in London and expect to announce a new location shortly.”

I wonder what Stig had to say about that?, with that fiery temperament that he had. I don't know, when I see the footage of them being ridiculed, I get a sense of xenophobia or whatever it is at play. They're on a tiny (I wouldn't even call it a stage) space so what the hell did SNL expect? And it's not as if this 'no lip-synch' was some long running policy that had been cast in stone for eons. SNL was a new show at the time and ABBA was one of it's earliest guests. Apparently, the story is the backing tape of 'Waterloo' got lost/didn't arrive. Needless to say, producer Lorne Michaels and host Robert Klein were utter arses in the circumstances.

Internet going haywire. Yes, it's been officially announced. Two new songs, one of which will feature in the ABBAtar unveiling TV show. What with Frida sounding amazing on Arturo Sandovals album, this is an incredible day.

I dunno, the UK, a previously loyal market, seemed to turn its back on ABBA and anything related in those years. I mean, IKTSGO was even a hit in Australia two years after Molly Meldrum was chucking a copy of the Super Trouper LP over his shoulder. You also can never under-estimate the importance of promotion. As Bjorn said himself "If you feel you've done a great job recording an album, why do a bad job promoting it?". I guess there's many a good song that has never got its' dues because it wasn't pushed into the public awareness enough. Frida promoted heavily in Europe for the SGO album and the title song got plenty of airplay via MTV in the USA too. But as far as the UK was concerned, what did the promotion amount to? The briefest of appearances on TOTP's.

Anna Bromee's 'tribute' show kicks off next Wednesday March 28th, in Frida's hometown of Torshalla before heading to Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Jonkoping and Skelleftea.
Looks like there will be songs from her days with Gunnar Sandevarn, her debut album and 'Ensam', with ABBA, her 80's solo albums as well as Djupa Andetag. Extra dates and venues have been added to the show tour. Anna Bromee's website says the tour dates are continually updated so more may be added.

I've sometimes wondered about why the official tour programmes, TV interviews and biopics in magazines played down her Jazz/Swing background and influences. We get to read that her favourite groups at the time were The Beatles, 10cc or Earth, Wind and Fire, even though in later interviews she happily admits bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were 'not in her world'. This was many years before Jamie Cullen and Amy Winehouse came onto the scene. Was Jazz seen as so uncool for a pop star to admire back then? In one of the 1977 Australian tour interviews, she's as much admitting that it's down to Benny's influence that she is naming these groups. I'm struggling to recall an interview during ABBA's heyday where Frida is telling of the influences of Peggy Lee, Eydie Gorme or Anita O'Day on herself.

As Colin says, Wikipedia should be taken with a very large pinch of salt. On this and related issues, it seems very US-centric. The arguments about 'certified unit' sales and 'claimed sales' continues on the 'List of best selling music artists' topic. ABBA are accredited with 60.7m credited units alongside claimed sales of between 100 and 200m. hmm? Didn't Universal themselves give an award years ago for 360m sales? So who knows where they pluck these figures from. Compare those credited units with Country singer, Garth Brooks who is given 156.1m credited units which is near enough the 160m 'claimed'. He's very big in the USA and I suppose he's got the longevity of his recording career but really? On the same level with worldwide success?

The 'When I Kissed The Teacher' video for ABBA-Dabba-Doo. Agnetha swaps her American sports top for Bjorn's.
And Benny decides he prefers the Chicago Bears over the Miami Dolphins afterall.

Three of them wearing the same top is getting weird. Is the there one with the full set?
Okay, found a few more. Not easy to spot but Benny's T-shirt from the 'Tiger' video shoot and Frida in rehearsals.

Funnily enough, I've long thought 'We're All Alone' was perfect for her voice. Could she still pull it off? Undoubtedly the vocal power is now diminished but for someone who is supposedly long 'retired' from the music business, her voice at that 'Benny and Bjorn 50th Anniversary' celebration was seemingly still pretty strong and intact. Thoughts of a meaningful comeback weren't exactly encouraged in that Lars Lerin programme a couple of years ago when she said she didn't want to disappoint and was fearful of criticism. But since then, she has recorded a new version of 'Andante Andante' for Arturo Sandoval's 'Duets' album, of which we still await to hear.

Yeah, I had to much time on my hands once, and tried to figure out the anglicized versions of the ABBA members names. Agnes Fieldwood and Anne Heatherton would be the most logical variants for the girls. Funnily enough, there is a 'Fieldwood Travel' company and you'll never guess where it's based?
Yep...... Sverige. Maybe they originally were called Faltskog. pontus-nilsson-kjce.squarespace.com/contact/
Edit : Just seen one of the company proprietors is called Michael Faltskog.

It's kind of odd that they never had support acts. Apart from giving the crowd more for their bucks, they also serve to help get the audience in earlier as well as iron out any sound or lighting issues beforehand. I'm not sure how it works out, financially with having support acts. They often have their own records to promote so do they appear at no cost, command a fee or just have their expenses covered?
A contemporary band, Queen, more often than not had a support band, sometimes up to four with their huge outdoor concerts. On their tours, they would often use a act from whatever country they were in. So they would have Status Quo in the UK and Cheap Trick in the USA. At other times, one band would be part of the tour over multiple countries.

^^^ That's probably true, and especially their careers before the band was formed. But I think for some, it's really interesting to hear the Swedish language output of the group members as you get an impression of four talents converging and the distinctive sound of what was to become ABBA emerging. I often listen to this album, released in 1994 with Agnetha and Frida's early 70's stuff, songs from B & B's 'Lycka' with backing vocals by the girls and Swedish versions of the early ABBA hits.
In the meantime and in keeping with this thread. Never tire of seeing this with it's glorious finale...

1. The Album 2. The Visitors 3. Arrival 4. Super Trouper 5. ABBA 6. Voulez-Vous 7. Waterloo 8. Ring Ring
For me, the top two are fairly interchangeable in that I don't skip anything on either (No, not even 'Two For The Price Of One'...glorious backing harmonies). 3 and 4 also depending on the mood. I'm sure they could have fitted another song on each of the top two but a minor quibble with that quality. Eagle, Take A Chance On Me, One Man One Woman, The Name Of The Game. Just four songs but one of the best vinyl 'A' sides by anyone, never-mind ABBA.

Yes, that interview in Zermatt was a bit odd. I actually think she likely speaks Swiss German which is quite different to High German. There was also a interview with Nelly Furtado on the same programme conducted in English so maybe it was meant for a wider audience. Growing up in a household with her grandmother, I guess they spoke to each other in Norwegian or a meshed together dialect.

I think 'Bright Lights Dark Shadows' relates this story. That both the West Bay Singers and Anni-Frid Lyngstad both progressed from the same regional final but they didn't actually meet or recall each other as Frida had performed much earlier in the day. At one point Bjorn's group were going to not bother waiting any longer but they were one of the last acts to get their chance. The West Bay Singers then won in the big final with Frida one of the runners up. This was the occasion that Stig's business partner, Bengt Bernhag talent spotted the boys and got them signed to Polar.
