did you know it was between Hasta Mañana and waterloo for eurovision, they decided to enter with waterloo,,yet i always thought Hasta Mañana was a lot better personally Interesting as Hasta Manana would have meant featuring so much more of Agnetha on her own. Also if I'm not mistaken, I believe that was the sort of song that fit in better with Eurovision back then. Often it was the ballads that did well.

Love this session. Everyone looks so young and vibrant. Something about Frida's hair and outfit makes her look here very endearing. Thank you.

Here, Frida gets the shout from the audience... And the wave back that she does to the random audience member is so cute. It's like she was so much in her element, just loving people back.

That's the interesting thing about a forum like this. We get so many people from different cultures who all like the same thing so we learn along the way. I'm careful what I say because I don't always know what's common to everyone. That's true, but I'm not completely strange to American slang because American English is the English that I'm exposed to most of the time. Is this particular expression very common, or maybe it's more of a regional thing? And I already guessed correctly what you meant from the context, but I still wanted to make sure Washboard stomach? It's pretty common, not so much regional. Although I myself have never even seen an actual washboard and don't know too many Americans who have. We just assume they are and were very flat and solid. Obviously the expression comes from the days before laundromats.

Oh, it's definitely good. In the US, a "washboard" stomach means it's flat and the person is in great shape. The other term we'd use for her obvious stomach muscles in that pic is "six-pack" (because there are as many as six profound stomach muscles that can be seen in the abdominal area from a lot of exercise there), but I thought that was a little too specific. Oh I see, and in that case I very much agree And I actually know what "six pack" means That's the interesting thing about a forum like this. My goodness, that stomach! Talk about washboard. Do you mean it in a good or bad way? Oh, it's definitely good. In the US, a "washboard" stomach means it's flat and the person is in great shape. ...there's something very affectionate about what she does when she holds the note on 'it'; thanking Benny for the music. Sweet and sad. Like that last week in high school before graduation. Is that from the famed last televised performance? I've heard it said that the end of the Under Attack video, where they walk off into the distance and the camera fades into the image of a red light, is an allusion to the end of the group also (actually, the top comment on the youtube video below says that). If anything, this video is a bit disorienting in that after the breakups, they actually do walk out as couples...sort of.

You have a point. I see at "so how could I ever refuse..." Frida is late and Agnetha is right on time. In fact, watching the whole video, I'm seeing that a lot. You wanna start the thread or should I? I'll be stressing that no Frida bashing is involved... You know thinking about it, this could lead to a lot of Frida bashing. Maybe the thread can focus mainly on notable camera angles during Abba performances as well as Abba members' reaction, like your last clip of the performance in Germany does? Up to you, of course.

Oh that was totally a goof on Agnetha's part. She turned the wrong way. It's on this video of various bloopers, many of which involve just the girls. Among the highlights are the two of them nearly cracking up at the most serious moment of "Fernando" and Frida patting Agnetha on the head while performing "Mamma Mia" We need a thread to test out my theory that Agnetha paid more attention to the active camera than Frida, resulting in the claim that the cameras were paying more attention to her. [quote author=" shoshin" How come behind Frida there is another Frida from a different hair era? [/quote] Good observation, Martin. Perhaps they were performing in an alternate universe.

Poor Frida. She looks great in that silver outfit but how can anyone's eyes not go to Agnetha's red getup.

You explained it fine. I get that you want more of our guests to log in. My point is that forcing them to log in to see their favorite threads won't make them participate. But we can end it here if you prefer.

...the only reason I log in every day, whether or not I find something to post about, is so that one more member is added to the daily stats... OK, so, why wouldn't you just stay logged in? And how do we know these guests are actually other members who aren't logging in? A lot of people came here when Abba4ever ended, signed in, pronounced that they came over, then faded. It happens. Not a problem. People's interests change. Restricting parts of the forum obviously won't get those people to log in. Forcing members who don't feel a need to log in to do so for the purpose of seeing photos won't make them participate. They'll probably just stay logged in like I do, look at the pictures, and still never talk. Personally, I see more value in participation than just seeing more names pop up on a list of people who logged in today. I'm not grumbling, Martin. I'm encouraging people to contribute more to the forum we all seem to have an interest in, making it more interesting itself. Of course they don't have to, but I think we agree there are lazy tendencies here. I just don't think we can strong arm members to change that.

My second favorite Abba album. I think this is the sound most casual fans in the US know them by. A happy, sort of campy element, dance vibes just teetering at the edge of the disco explosion. With such diversity as "Tiger", "Why Did It Have To Be Me" and the highly underrated "That's Me", I think they were really showing us they could do anything. Whether people agreed or not, obviously millions upon millions enjoyed the effort.

Usually I come to the site when I get an email notification that I thread I have bookmarked has been updated. I have most of those popular photo threads bookmarked so that's pretty much every day. When I click the link to the thread from the email, I'm already logged in. I stay logged in on the computers I use. From there I'll occasionally check the "RECENT POSTS" to see what's new. Most of the time I find that these photo threads are mainly on that list, although I do acknowledge there are others.
I'm not sure we can assume most of these guests are actually members who just don't log in. Why would they have become members in the first place? I imagine they are long-term browsers. I was a long-term browser at Abba4ever (well, a few months anyway) before I decided I wanted to speak and join.
Of course, these are all suppositions. This thread has been quite active the last few days so it must be at or near the top of the "RECENT POSTS" list. Can I petition a long time guest to please join and let us know what their mentality is with this forum?

So if these non-members are going to the main page, searching through the list of boards (some of which are within sub categories) and surfing away on Agnetha and group photos, will these same people join the forum just based on the benefit of permission to see what's inside such photo threads without having seen them yet? I think even if they are finding the forum, they won't join if they are not allowed to see what they're looking for. You gotta wonder, why are these people coming here? I mean, is there such a crave for Abba photos out there that has people searching forums for them? I'm thinking these people are kind of window shopping, looking at the pictures but not reading the words, thumbing through the pages in the bookstore without any intent to buy the book. It's a lot easier to browse photos of pretty ladies than it is to read lengthy comments about a music group, and way easier than coming up with a username and password, joining the forum and participating. I guess what I'm starting to feel is, let the guests stay guests if they want to. The bigger problem is members who never participate.

The reason the forum is becoming so Agnetha-picture centric is because the same very few people are contributing to it. And they are contributing many Agnetha pictures. Which brings us back to the original point. People aren't contributing so the very few who do dominate. There's nothing wrong with our active handful focusing mainly on Agnetha pics. But if they're the only ones posting that's almost all we'll get and I think we're capable of more than that.
