I'd find it very to rate the albums. I listen to all of them regularly, particularly from ABBA onwards though.

I adore the Ring Ring album as it includes one of my absolute favourite ABBA songs 'Nina Pretty Ballerina' why that song was never released as a single puzzles me its a great song.

I'm stunned, Alex. You like the Ring Ring album better than Arrival or The Album? Most ABBA fans consider Arrival and The Album to be their two best albums.

Based on original track listings:
Premier League:
1. The Visitors 2. ABBA 3. The Album
Deliberate gap
4. Super Trouper
Deliberate gap
5. Arrival 6. Ring Ring 7. Voulez-Vous
Vauxhall Conference (or whatever they call it now):
8. Waterloo
Bonus tracks (i.e. SNC, Lovelight, GGG) significantly boost Voulez-Vous.

Oh my God I cannot believe I am the only person on this thread to put Super Trouper as the best studio album!
Sure, Arrival is iconic and brilliant, and The Album is fantastic and cemented their place on the world stage. But to me, Super Trouper is such a progression, every track is wondrouslying rich in terms of melody, lyrics, emotions and harmonies. Okay, speech over, here are my rankings:
1) Super Trouper 2) The Album 3) The Visitors 4) Arrival 5) Voulez Vous 6) Abba 7) Waterloo 8) Ring Ring

For me it's easy to choose the best (The Album) and worst (Ring Ring) album. But it's almost impossible to rank the others, they're pretty close to each other and my preferences change. If pressed, I guess I would pick the Waterloo album as the second weakest, but I'm very fond of it anyway. The Visitors, Arrival and Voulez-Vous would fight for second best and it would be a tough competition. ABBA and Super Trouper would be close behind them.

Super Trouper fan here. It is ABBA at their pinnacle. They'd already become living legends by this point.
I've often said it's The Visitors for me and it still is in many ways, but then I think of The Album or Arrival, both truly magnificent, and I deliberate. And even Voulez Vous is a cracker of an album.
I remember, not always very clearly as I was just a teenager, when I first got a copy of the album. It was SO very EXOTIC to me! The group looked so COOL! Agnetha in her sunglasses on the inside cover leaning on Frida's arm.....I can even remember the SMELL of the LP! AND we even had another picture of the group on the back, looking fantastic. And the wondrous Eagle as an opener! My GOD! Move on, Take A Chance On Me. The Name Of The Game..... and I'm A Marionette! We were SPOILED.
Ah, those were the days. It just isn't the same anymore.

I can even remember the SMELL of the LP! What did it smell like? Did it smell fresh or more musty like it does now?

I can even remember the SMELL of the LP! What did it smell like? Did it smell fresh or more musty like it does now? This is really difficult to answer. It certainly didn't smell musty (although I imagine my copy must do by now). I guess it smelled new and fresh and of the ink and plastic. It was as though the images and artwork and music on the grooves combined to create an exotic imprint on my brain. They do say that the sense of smell is one of the last things to leave us as we die and smell plays an incredibly important part in our memories of things (and people). I wish I could describe it better, it's hard to find the vocabulary. It's as though I can 'hear' the smell in my memory bank from all those years ago, if that makes any sense? Like an echo from that time which is so fleeting. It's gone before you can grasp it and reappears rarely and at unexpected times. Like the tiniest hint of a beautiful but subtle perfume that is lost on the breeze in a second and extremely elusive.

This list is just based off of the original studio albums. If you take bonus tracks into account, The Visitors would overtake Super Trouper pretty easily. And as much as I love the best songs on Waterloo, I enjoy the consistency of Ring Ring better than Waterloo's let's-try-everything-and-see-what-sticks approach.

For me, the top two are fairly interchangeable in that I don't skip anything on either (No, not even 'Two For The Price Of One'...glorious backing harmonies). 3 and 4 also depending on the mood. I'm sure they could have fitted another song on each of the top two but a minor quibble with that quality. Eagle, Take A Chance On Me, One Man One Woman, The Name Of The Game. Just four songs but one of the best vinyl 'A' sides by anyone, never-mind ABBA.

This list is just based off of the original studio albums. My list, too, is based on the original albums, but I don't think my list would be any different if I took bonus tracks into account.
