^^ This is an abbachronistic image, because the Jules Rimet World Cup Trophy in the bottom right hand corner was retired in 1970 when Brazil won it for the third time. An ABBA era picture should show the replacement trophy, used from the 1974 competition to the present day (the ball logo in the top left corner above 'ABBA' is also from the 1970 tournament)

In that article, which in other respects is if anything over the top in its praise, the writer concedes that Stevie 'may not be conventionally beautiful...'. I was fifteen when Rumours was released in early 1977 and back then there didn't seem anything obscure or debatable when it came to Stevie Nicks' beauty. Most hetero guys would have crawled over broken glass to drink her bathwater. Have conceptions of female beauty really changed so much over the decades? What do younger Abbachatters think? I've set this representative clip so that it starts with a very brief Abba reference

My only problem is that with a chick being named 'Stevie'

..Whoa, I didn't mean to endorse anything stated in the article, but only to give it as a reference for that photo .. I know I digressed because interviews seem to indicate that there were interesting parallels between Stevie and Agnetha. They were perceived similarly by lads in the mid-1970s, but they weren't really aware or interested in the effect they were having in that respect; they were focused on music and didn't hanker after sex symbol status. They both had a straightforward unpretentious way of answering questions, and a sort of disarming charisma that caused problems for interviewers. In the Stevie clip I posted, at 3:48 she looks directly at him and he struggles to string a sentence together. It reminded me of an interview Agnetha did with Nick Ross in 1983; he was usually a safe pair of BBC hands, but when she said 'wrap your arms around me' he lost the plot. Two more clips for comparison, both from 1976.
