Unnecessary fact of the day- There is a reason for all the pictures we see of Abba wearing Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys... sure they wore other team jerseys in other cities but there is a remarkable (for all non Swedes) abundance of Maple Leaf pics and the reason is that Swedish hockey superstar Börje Salming played for Toronto at this time and was a HUGE star in Canada and considered a sports god in Sweden, Abba wanted this "Swedish connection" to show hence all the pics of that specific jersey. Quite obvious for any swedish fan at the time...not so perhaps to the rest of the world. Both Björn and Benny were hockeyfans and you can see Benny wearing his Djurgården scarf while icescating in Leysin, Switzerland 1979, his favourite hockeyclub from Stockholm.   Börje Salming |
