It would be wonderful if there were three more songs to come. In an historical sense, this would bring Voyage in line with their other albums in having bonus tracks. If you think about it, it’s only like buying singles back in the day for an exclusive b-side. This way, you’d get them all in one go. As for having to buy the album again, well, don’t each of us own the historical eight albums about ten times over?!
A reissue could see a double-vinyl version with three (or four) songs on each side. I don’t see them doing about 20 different versions of it again.
My only gripe about the number of versions issued is that you can’t tell which of the coloured vinyls will look the best. From illustrations, Amazon’s orange looks good because it appears to match the artwork. The independent blue looks nice as well. The green in the albums box last year didn’t look good but I’m hoping this one is a different shade. In reality they could look very different from the photos we’ve seen so far.

Yes, the vinyl re-issue of an extended "Voyage" would probably be a double-album at 45rpm, like for the 40th anniversary releases. I can't see them waiting 40 years to do this for "Voyage"

I love all the speculation that's going on... Its whats kept me going for the last 40 years..lol Just when i thought or trying to comprehend that this is probably the last set of new music that we will get, along comes the speculation of another 3 kept back. I'd love that to be true of course, but back to my old adage of... time will tell....
I'm also wondering , apart from the ISHFIY and DSMD, have they ABBATAR'd any of the new tracks from the album, that would be a great surprise... after all the album would have been out 6 months by the time show starts....
Also are we actually going to see the Girls ? An interview, something for TV would be fantastic....
So much going on and today we find out how successful chart wise the two tracks will be...

A parody of the ISHFIY video. Not particularly funny but quite sweet.

^ I like them! Not hilarious, but affectionate. They have done several other ABBA ‘tributes’, all of which are on YouTube, I think.

^^^ I know its not the b-all and end all but a little disappointing, considering Ireland was so popular for them.. A pre-cursor for the UK ? Showing how hard it is these days for older acts...
Gold up to 5 in Ireland, perhaps another pre-cursor ?
Perhaps Im to optimistic, just a top 10 placing would be great, that 10th number one in the UK can come at Christmas ?

Slightly disappointed that Don't Shut Me Down didn't manage to get Top 10 here, but it was the most purchased song of the week in Ireland! Dancing Queen re-entered the Irish singles chart at #87 this week. Gold rises to #5 in this week's Irish albums chart, joined by Voulez-Vous (#55), Super Trouper (#95) and Arrival (#100)!

Some wonderful chart positions in Sweden: shut 1, faith 2 Norway: shut 7, faith 13 That's great! I guess that the last time they occupied the first two chart positions in Sweden was back in 1974 with Waterloo! Can't wait for the results in the UK. And Germany will be interesting, I think - the songs were No.1 and No.2 on German YouTube the whole week.

I've heard 'Rumours', that ABBA have held back, (at least), 3 New Songs. If it is true, then they, (and Universal), may plan to add them to 'Voyage', in 2022. Maybe around the time, that The ABBAtars Show Opens - May. (Maybe June). Then, a 'Deluxe', (or 'Super Deluxe'), 'Voyage' would be Released - to try to get us all to buy the Album, all over again. It would not be 'Outrageous'. Album Sales, (Global), are so low, that a lot of Acts Release their latest Album - then Re-Release it - Months later - with extra Tracks. ABBA may well do the same. However, it is such a novelty, to be able to buy a New ABBA Album, that I will certainly buy an 'Enhanced' Edition, in 2022. ( If we get one!). In the meantime, someone, at a UK Chart Site, has Posted the 'Billboard', (USA Music Magazine), for W/E 8th September 1979. There is a huge ABBA Feature in it - From Pages 33 to 56! I thought that you may wish to see it: Link Below link It may now be the done thing to re-issue an album months later with extra tracks, but in this case it would be outrageous. I have counted up 25 different editions of "Voyage" across the three physical formats (CD, vinyl, cassette), and that excludes the special Japanese CDs and the digital download. To ask us to buy the album again in a few months' time would be really cheeky and pushing it too far. Of course, I would buy it for the extra songs, but not in multiple copies as I have done with this first release (and I must add that I have ordered nowhere near that maximum). I would much prefer any extra tracks to be used on a 50-year retrospective album, as I have speculated before. I must admit, I wouldn't mind. Ah... what am I saying? I would be delighted! Yes, I was a bit shocked by the sheer amount of versions of Voyage releases, but as Alan already pointed out, we all have the old albums in so many versions, that adding one more Voyage can do no harm... Actually, it would be a clever move to keep the interest in the album. But who knows what they really intend to do with the three songs (if there are any of course) - next year is the 50th anniversary and I suppose much more is waiting round the corner. So maybe I shouldn't have spent so much on Voyage releases! But as I said before, I just wanted to support the comeback as much as possible.

ISHFIY IS AT 14 ! UK charts...
Ironically ABBAs first top 20 hit if it doesnt rise any higher, either top 10 or complete miss the top 20....
As Im listening.... to UK radio 1...
Abba will have its 20th top 10 ... DSMD not yet played, but playing Elton John at 11...
DSMD is at 9....
Bittersweet, just like Abba Themselves...one top 10... a fantastic achievement considering...

Interesting - I Still Have Faith In You had the advantage of having been released on both CD and vinyl (and it had a proper video) and still DSMD fared better. What could have been if it was treated the same way?

Nice to see Voulez Vous and Arrival back in the chart. They are the most uptempo ABBA albums.
People prefer uptempo ABBA

I’m happy with those chart positions. Until the announcement over a week ago, I honestly didn’t think they had much chance of denting the top 100.
ABBA’s 20th top 10 hit finally comes after a 40-year wait. And as has been pointed out, their first 11 to 20 placing that isn’t a re-release. Dancing Queen in 1992 made number 16 while Waterloo in 2004 reached number 20. Waterloo’s 2004 run doesn’t show separately on the official chart’s website, presumably because it had the original b-side (Dancing Queen didn’t).
The only thing remotely comparable to me is when Kate Bush’s King of the Mountain entered at number four in 2005, actually her first solo top 10 hit in 20 years. That was before downloads and streams were allowed in the chart though. I honestly think that ABBA’s songs if released 15 or 16 years ago would have been numbers 1 and 2.

Nice to see Voulez Vous and Arrival back in the chart. They are the most uptempo ABBA albums. People prefer uptempo ABBA I’m going deeper than that… Voulez-Vous is the album that seems to have most similarities with Voyage from what we know so far. There’s the familiarity that Don’t Shut Me Down has with If It Wasn’t For The Nights, then there’s the fact that both Just A Notion and Free As A Bumblebee are discarded demos from the Voulez-Vous sessions. I’m putting too much faith in the British public being that intelligent to check these things out though. Including bonus tracks, six top 10 hits appear on Voulez-Vous (seven songs if you include the double A-side) so it’s very good value. Even if five of the six/seven are on Gold anyway.

It's a lovely result - especially knowing what we know of how the charts work these days. The fans really turned up and bought the stuff - whether digital download, CD, vinyl or all three. We need to brace ourselves for next week's chart positions: this week's streaming chart positions are possibly what to expect (unless the diehards suddenly embrace streaming in a massive new way).

The UK Charts Company does List the 2004, (No.20), 'Waterloo' on its Site. It has put its Chart 'Run' in the Chart 'Run' of the 1974 'Waterloo'. So, the 2004 Re-Issue looks like it is not included in ABBA's UK Hits Singles. The OCC also thinks that the 1992 'Dancing Queen' is a Remix. They don't see it as the 1976 Hit Re-Charting.
Sadly, it looks like neither New ABBA Single, will be in the UK Top 20, next Week. Their Streams are rapidly collapsing. It is with 'Voyage' that ABBA will do best with, both in Sales and Chart places - for Weeks. I've no idea how far the 2 Singles will fall, in next Friday's UK Charts. I hope that they don't plummet too far.
By reaching No.5 this Week, 'Gold' becomes ABBA's first UK Album, to achieve 30 UK Top 5 Weeks.

I was surprised to see "Voulez-vous" as the best performing chart re-entrant among the studio albums. For me, it is the least timeless of ABBA's albums, being firmly set in the Disco era of the late 70s (although "Ring Ring" is obviously deeply rooted in the early 70s). It is also an album that yielded no No 1 singles, although it has plenty of hit singles. I would have expected "Arrival" and perhaps "Super Trouper" to have made the biggest comebacks (although they are not my personal favourites, preferring "The Album" and "The Visitors"). I was thinking it shows that the general public favour the late-70s Disco sound. However, the Download chart tells a different story... Gold - Anniverary Edition: #8 Gold: #10 The Visitors: #32 Arrival: #43 More Gold: #46 Live at Wembley Arena: #49 Voulez-vous: #64 Super Trouper: #66 But the overall 'Sales' chart features... Gold, Gold - Anniversary Edition, The Albums (box), The Visitors and More Gold. And the Streaming chart features only... Gold, Voulez-vous Finally, "The Album" appears nowhere, which is rather a surprise. That lot is food for thought
