Johnny, I think the similarity between Knowing Me, Knowing You and Cecilia is one line only. The line in KMKY is ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You it’s the best I can do’ and the line in Cecilia is ‘when I come back to bed someone’s taken my place’.

All these examples of similarities - momentary or more extensive - between songs demonstrate how difficult, or even perhaps unlikely, it must be to come up with original and popular tunes. If I remember correctly, many years ago they had a musicologist on TV who pointed out how startlingly similar Burt Bacharach's Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head was to a theme in some lesser-known Eighteenth Century string quartet! So Benny, and other modern-day songwriters, are in good company.

^Impressive. I've wondered for a while now why/how some people are able to upload a song by someone else to YouTube and not have it taken down? When I see the react people constantly fretting that their upload will earn a copyright restriction. Baffling. Anyway, Björn is on radio 2 tomorrow from 6pm (I think?!). I'll try to find the link. I'm waiting to hear Björn's radio thing when it's uploaded elsewhere. There's a clip doing the rounds on Facebook and possibly other places but I've yet to listen to it.

It will be on BBC Sounds, surely? Only to those in the UK though. Just searched and it’s there. “Björn from ABBA’s Eurovision Highlights” and “Björn Ulvaeus Guest Edits Today”. Both are only there for five days though. |

Yes, you’re right. Bizarrely it depends on the search you do - under “Best of Today” it shows as five days (my actual search was “Björn”), but under “Today” it’s 28 days. It mentions something on Wikipedia about “Media delivered to UK-based listeners does not feature commercial advertising”. Is that right - you get adverts outside the UK? |
