I kind of enjoyed the Brits performance, TBH, but this collab is dire. It feels very calculated: designed in such a way that if you say you don't like it, you're dismissed with a sneer because "of course you couldn't possibly get it, old bore" and other eye-rolling statements from Sulky Adolescent Dot Com. I've never been a fan of Sam Smith's voice: their vocal tone grates on me a bit. That said, I liked Unholy. But this new release feels cartoonish and calculated and obvious. Profanity? Oh gosh, how daring. We've never had that before. And it makes Madonna look opportunistic and a bit desperate. But here we are talking about it - so job done, I guess. We're all free to hit the skip button, all free not to stream it. You can't please everyone. But does anyone admire either artist any more than they did before? I admired Sam Smith's ballsiness in presenting their new image with no regard for the reactionaries. But this record is just 3 minutes of cynical, cartoonish clickbait. Roll on a better release by both parties.
Sincerely
Grumpy Old Man Dublin

Sincerely Grumpy Old Man Dublin Tony, when I first read your post, I thought it had stated "But this record is just 3 minutes of cynical, cartoonish dickbait". I'm glad I re-read your comment. Agree with your comment regarding Sam Smith's vocal tone being grating - I find it intolerable.

The older Madonna gets the more desperate and pathetic she becomes in trying to be more youthful and cool.
It's like her face. The facelifts don't make her look younger, just someone who has had facelifts. Ditto Elton John.
Whilst having some reservations about some tracks on Voyage, at least ABBA were age apropriate.
Not a fan of Sam Smith's vocals either
PS: Scary thought. ABBA do a Collaboration album with some cool young things.

[...]when I first read your post, I thought it had stated "But this record is just 3 minutes of cynical, cartoonish dickbait". It kinda is that too. Kinda like a dickpic in sonic form. Cringey.

Kylie brought out a cassette of her song. This was enough to deprive Loreen a 5th week in the Top 10 and she dips from 7 to 11 with UK sales to date of 146,000. Only 1,000 sales separated Kylie at #9 and Loreen at #11
Meanwhile ABBA's Gold Greatest Hits leaves the Top 20 for the first time this year. It is at #21.
