The ABBAtars looked amazing both on stage and on giant screens at the sides or the back of the set. The sound quality, and there was a live band, was top notch too. The venue is small enough for everyone to have a good view but big enough for a great atmosphere. The audience obeyed the instructions not to take photos or film (why do people do that?) and thankfully were listening to the songs not trying to sing them themselves!
For me - and the audience, the best performances were from the Big Hits. Song three onwards there was a string of them: SOS, Knowing Me Knowing You, Chiquitita, Fernando, Mamma Mia. From this bunch Chiquitita, surprisingly, got the best reception. The audience was lapping it up and waving arms side by side. Down further along the set, Lay All Your Love on Me went down a storm. The biggest reaction from the crowd, by far, was for Dancing Queen. The seated concert fans got out of their seats for this classic. The next and final song The Winner Takes it All was runner up in terms of positive feedback. Agnetha was at her performing best.
Some non Gold, less familiar songs went down well too - though less emphatically. I would mention the opening track, The Visitors, with Frida in full dramatic mode, the next song Hole in Your Soul, the forgotten hit Summer Night City, with a very energetic ABBA in their tron suits and finally the relative newbie I Still Have Faith in You.
Waterloo wasn't performed by the ABBAtars but a screen over the ABBAtars set with Eurovision footage. At the same time you could see the set. It didn't quite work. Nor did Thank You for the Music where this screen over a screen was still in place.
Don't Shut Me Down and When All is Said and Done are brilliant songs but perhaps listening and watching a performance in an Arena is not the same as being home alone and enjoying them. The sets and lack of interaction didn't help.
Where the show certainly didn't work was with the animations for Eagle and Voulez Vous. Why have them? People left in droves, probably a nip to the loo when Eagle was played, not performed.
Getting back to positives, it was a nice touch to let the band have their moment in the spotlight with Does Your Mother Know. It went down well. The song was introduced by Bjorn. All four got to introduce songs individually and give a little story. Grumpy Benny got the laughs.
I would make a few changes and I think this should be more (not totally though) a Greatest Hits show. Take a Chance on Me and Money Money Money should have been included and ditch the animations and When All is Said and Done replaced by another song. The sum was better than the individual parts. The highpoints compensated for the lull at times.
All in all, a very enjoyable and memorable night out. I am glad I went and would recommend people going.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I enjoyed reading your review, Johnny - thanks for taking the time. And glad you enjoyed the show.
About the avatars: one or two have found them occasionally unconvincing, with 'glassy' eyes. That obviously wasn't your experience. Interesting that unlike some, WAISAD wasn't a highlight in the show for you and didn't work for you (even though you rate the song itself), and that you'd replace it from the set list.
Maybe it could have been called "ABBA GOLD - THE SHOW!" They could still have included a couple of new songs and two or three non-hits, as they have, but it's obviously mostly about the big hits, as you describe. Of course, by calling it that, there wouldn't be much of a link to the Voyage album. But really, apart from the title of the album and a couple of the songs from the album included in the show, it's more of a commercially-convenient link than anything else, imo.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Johnny, it's a wonder after so many of us have and you've heard their response, I'm equally interested when Joesph has seen it as well , with both of you being such ardent fans and post well on here.
Of course there are tweeks. Which has been covered in one way or another by us all, preferences etc, but fundamentally it's about the show and how good or bad we perceive it to be...thankfully very few negative comments,
It's been over a year now since I've saw the show, I'm itching to see it again, but waiting for that set change( like a few on here) ... just to see what works, I agree with most of your comments. And yes wouldn't we all like more. It's a shame that Bjorn introduces DYMK, as that's one part of the show that could be changed every day,let the live band choose another track, would give them variety as well.. ironically HIYS would work well.......any rockier track, dare I say Rock Me even...
Overall though it's a fantastic feel great show for a multi generational audience... a little cheaper perhaps..lol

From a few reviews (official and otherwise) I've seen of the show, I think Frida seems to be the most convincing ABBAtar? Someone said that "they did Bjorn dirty" and, elsewhere, someone suggested that Benny must have slipped the designers an extravagant tip because of how well he looks! Is WAISAD in danger of becoming a marmite moment in the show? Some of those reviews I mentioned included claims to have been a bit teary. Others have been a bit frustrated that they had to sit through a song they didn't know. Could issuing this version as a single - even a radio buzz track - elevate the song's profile and act as a kind of ad for the show? Given how well the single was received, and given that it was created for the show, I'm surprised that nobody yet has called DSMD a show highlight. johnny, am I right in thinking that Eagle is the original recording in its entirety - not just the original vocals supported by the house band? That seems a bit cheeky. I've seen snippets of VV that sound live - I hope that's what happens in the show. Each time someone describes the Waterloo presentation, I get slightly more disappointed. Imagine what a shining moment in the show it could be if all that footage was going on behind the ABBAtars as they performed it? Is it the original track or the band behind ABBA's vocals?

The Waterloo sequence is more a collage of severall ABBA appearances of course including the ESC performance. During the concert I saw, the audience went wild about it.
It should be noted that KMKY is also a video, however with the ABBAtars but not a stage performance.

I've seen snippets of the KMKY video, BAAB, and it looks fantastic. Ditto LAYLOM. Where the ABBAtars are included, I have virtually no problem with videos. I wonder if any of the alleged 5 or six other songs are in video format.

Actually, I like DYMK in the Show because apart from Björn introducing the song, the song became more of a Girls Song, because the Girls sing the lead throughout the song, or do I remember that wrong ? HOMETIME: Indeed the KMKY video looks stunning, I don't have a problem with the ABBATARs on video actually.

My review of last nights voyage concert that I attended: Firstly the weather was awful esp for a Friday in mid July particularly when other parts of Europe are experiencing record temperatures , but didn't let that dampen my spirits! So parked near the 02 arena and made my way to abba arena via tube and DLR, got chatting to 2 ladies who were from Australia on the DLR who were seeing show for 1st time and mentioned about possibility of it being staged down under. This time round I was in sitting in block F which is stage left and you are nearer the band. Have to say felt this side was a better view and the stage/screens seemed bigger. The opening part still gives me goosebumps with the abbatars appearing and leading into 'The Visitors' Overall atmosphere seemed to go up a few notches compared to when I went last November which was a Sunday lunchtime show . Pretty much all the songs got a great reaction and people were up dancing as early as KMKY, during Chiquitita everyone had their hands in the air including the person in sound/technical gallery. Noticed on DYMK think there was a different lead vocalist as from previous time and the song had more energy, Absolutely love LAYLOM sequencing into SNC its just brilliantly put together. With seeing the 2 video animations again can appreciate that they are really well made so maybe will be sticking around for a while. DSMD and ISHFIY were well received and again everyone was on their feet for Waterloo and of course DQ. So to sum up a really enjoyable evening the abbatars looked incredible, band and overall sound was excellent, you can see why the arena is packed out night after night.

It looks like releasing DVD's with the ABBAtars would go down well, judging by the above reviews. Maybe that is a way of getting some money back? I would buy a DVD with a few of them on! Obviously, not at the detriment to the show, but as a taster maybe? Would obviously, have to look really, really good and convincing!!

Here is my review of the concert ( Friday 27/10/23 ). First of all I could hardly contain my excitement during the journey to London resulting in crossing my legs and focusing on the countryside and autumn colours to take my mind of an imminent toilet break. I couldn't wait for the comfort stop as I was bursting. When we arrived the driver dropped us off just outside the ABBA arena. I was mesmerised by the logo and the building was situated around the London docklands. We were lucky with the weather. The city was bathed in brilliant sunshine. What to do with oneself for a couple of hours before the show ? Good question you may ask. It was pointless heading off in the direction of " The Westfield Shopping Centre " as most of our coach party did due to no proper itinerary. The security staff will not allow any concert goer to take packages inside the venue as per the instructions I read whilst travelling on route. I ended up walking for miles and almost losing my bearings. Fortunately with the aid of a few passers by I managed to re-trace my steps and return to the ABBA arena. After some sustenance along the way and sitting on a bench in the fading sunlight, I could see the ABBA logo glowing in a myriad of different colours as twilight descended. People began to arrive and very soon it was packed and busy. As you were admitted into the building you were instructed to place your personal belongings to one side whilst the guards searched you rigorously from top to bottom. Once inside there were stalls galore but very few seats. I browsed the merchandise shops to while away the time and purchased a concert souvenir programme.
After being directed to my seat ( Block K, Row N, Seat 10 ) I was impressed with how well I could see the stage. That familiar buzz of excitement and anticipation surged within me as the curtains opened revealing a very pleasantly surprising backdrop of a Swedish pine forest. The scene soon changing and the music became louder. Suddenly the ABBAtars appeared lead by Frida for the opening number,
The Visitors ( a surreal and stunning rendition ) Hole In Your Soul ( a bona fide rocker )
SOS ( a worthy classic impeccably sung )
Knowing Me Knowing You ( timeless and emotionally rousing )
Chiquitita ( breathtakingly moving )
Fernando ( very atmospheric with an infectiously catchy chorus ) Mamma Mia ( a crowd pleaser )
Eagle ( beautiful vocals within a sophisticated anthem accompanied by a striking animated video clip )
Does Your Mother Know ( an improved version performed by the ensemble of backing musicians preceded by a cheeky lead vocal from Bjorn )
Lay All Your Love On Me ( absolutely amazing )
Summer Night City ( mind blowing )
Gimme Gimme Gimme ( A Man After Midnight ) ( a brilliant disco ear worm exquisitely performed ) Voulez-Vous ( what an ending to a spellbinding dance sequence with animated special effects including the lightning and ghostly carved figures of ABBA depicting a gothic feel )
When All Is Said And Done ( featuring a memorable acapella opening from Frida )
Don't Shut Me Down ( joyful and catchy )
I Still Have Faith In You ( simply beautiful )
Waterloo ( nostalgic with the clip of ABBA triumphantly winning Eurovision back in 1974 )
Thank You For The Music ( very moving and apt with Benny playing the accordion )
Dancing Queen ( a joyous and euphoric finale )
The Winner Takes It All ( a deserving mighty swansong of an encore to end the show featuring an unforgettably heart breaking and forlorn solo vocal from Agnetha )
So there you have my review of an a concert I will treasure and cherish always. There were so many highlights for me. ABBA have taken all of us who have witnessed this special event on an outstanding and unbelievable journey via their impeccable music. I was totally " blown away " with the concert. The songs, performances, costumes, lighting, video clips, special effects and the backing musicians were awesome. THE ABBATARS WERE INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL AND LIFELIKE. If you close your eyes you could imagine yourself transported via a tardis to an ABBA concert all those years ago.
I returned home in the early hours of the morning with a head full of memories of a concert like no other. Thank you, ABBA !

Feel free to refer to me as Eddie. You always post kind words which mean a lot. I agree drafting, putting into words and posting a review is difficult. Sometimes a wonderful experience of being present at a concert of such magnitude leaves you bereft of speech because you are left stunned and astonished.

Glad you enjoyed it Ed.
Here are my individual song performance ratings to follow on from opening post...
The Visitors ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hole in Your Soul ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SOS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Knowing Me Knowing You ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chiquitita ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fernando ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mamma Mia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Does Your Mother Know ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eagle ⭐️⭐️ LAYLOM ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Summer Night City ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Gimme Gimme Gimme ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Voulez Vous ⭐️⭐️ When All is Said and Done ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Don't Shut Me Down ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I Still Have Faith in You ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waterloo ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thankyou for the Music ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dancing Queen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Winner Takes it All ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You can see I liked the vast majority but not impressed with the cartoons, WAISAD/DSMD great songs but didn't quite work in the concert and Waterloo snd TYFTM - no ABBAtars or poor ABBAtars.
The first 8 songs and final two were brilliant and went down really well. The other 10 songs a bit patchy. The Tron sequence being the highlight for this section and toilet break cartoons the low point.

I was so pleased when I first heard Eagle was on the setlist but so disappointed by it being a cartoon. I was also disappointed with the lacklustre DSMD performance and reception.
On the hand really pleased with Hole in Your Soul and The Winner Takes it All - despite not being favourites of mine.
Highlights for me were SOS and Knowing Me Knowing You and also LAYLOM and SNC.

Went last night.
I thought it was great and the ABBAtars are very realistic, and the personal bits with each band member addressing the audience are truly lovely, however I don't get why they aren't on stage the whole concert.
Having videos for Eagle, Waterloo and others was. let down and the energy in the auditorium dipped every time the ABBAtars weren't on stage. We've all seen Waterloo from 1974, don't need to see it again.
10/10 when the ABBAtars are on stage with the band. The band are great! But 4/10 when they're playing the videos.

It's hard to say something that hasn't already been said about ABBA Voyage - the whole extravaganza is simply astounding ! In my 40 years of going to concerts it ranks up there with the best of them - it really is that good.
My wife and I went on our first post-Covid19 trip back to Europe in April after a gap of several years and one of the main reasons for returning to London was to see ABBA Voyage. We had bought the tickets months earlier as we wanted to sit in the first row of seats behind the standing section facing the stage straight on.
The venue is a pain to get to if you are not terribly mobile but we signed up for one of those ride-share apps to get to and from it as we were staying near Hyde Park. Once at the venue there was a little waiting around and checking out the merchandise and then into the arena we went.
The show was (for me) an incredible experience and I was quite emotional at times as you really do think the group is there in front of you.
Some of the highlights for me were Hole In Your Soul (though it was too fast), Lay All Your Love On Me and When All Is Said And Done - mainly for the different treatment to the familiar recordings. The reworking of WAISAD is sublime. I even 'liked' Voulez-Vous here - not one of my faves but done well live. It's all about the sound sometimes. KM,KY sounded fantastic, the video was ok too.
The band is brilliant and I have never heard a (relatively small) band replicate such complicated arrangements live so expertly before.
Ticket prices that have been mentioned before seem very cheap to me - ours were something like 350 pounds for the two of us - but this was one show I was not going to miss so that didn't matter to me. Where we sat probably mattered the most. Nobody could stand up in front of us - perfect. We were on a 5 week European holiday so it was ok to splurge now and then !
I would be very happy to see the show again, back in London or here in Sydney if it does come here eventually. It is staggering.
Like a few other people have mentioned, the running order is a little odd to me - I would have separated Chiquitita and Fernando, removed the instrumental section in GGG (never liked it & got rid of it on 'my' version - like the official video) and maybe moved TYFTM closer to the middle to separate it further from TWTIA but costumes might not make that easy.
Wouldn't a DVD of this whole thing (including the motion capture stuff) be amazing ? So far there is only what has been secretly recorded and put on youtube - there was some amazing stuff on there - very briefly - which helps me relive the show so for that I'm very happy.

Don't Shut Me Down and When All is Said and Done are brilliant songs but perhaps listening and watching a performance in an Arena is not the same as being home alone and enjoying them. The sets and lack of interaction didn't help. It's funny, but I do think DSMD could have benefited from a better presentation. The whole performance feels a bit static and lacklustre. Given what a bop it is, the avatars just sort of stand there, so it doesn't feel as much fun as it could have: given it's the standout song from the Voyage album. The screens that are lowered during the performance try to add something to it, but I've seen comments from people who have gone on nights that the screens didn't work and they think that actually improved the number.

I don’t know how much to write here. Many people who have gone have left their great reviews and I’m not sure how mine will add to that. Equally, there’s the risk of being spoiler-heavy and ruining the experience for someone yet to go. Having said that, I’m not sure that all I had read really prepared me for the experience.
From the moment the ABBAtars rose out of the stage, it was astonishing. The way the sequinned fabric on the cloaks moved and caught the light, the way the ABBAtars shifted slightly in their positions as they readied themselves for performance was so… real.
The Visitors was a superb way to open. The moody first verse gave us time to properly gawk. I thought that, being a nerdy fan, I might have been alone in getting goosebumps, but there were a few people around me on the dancefloor showing each other their forearms, where the hair was standing. I’m guessing it’s a common enough reaction? The thump of the beat kicked in and it all kicked off. The heft of the live drums really pushed the song along and raised the crowd’s energy. A couple of songs not too well known to the more casual fan was a good opening strategy. The show had somewhere to go.
We know the setlist inside out and people’s experiences have been shared. I think the flow was actually pretty good. Every so often, I’d try to speculate on whether a vocal came from studio or good live recordings, but I failed. The processing (and the overall experience) made it hard to tell. And that kind of technical sleuthing takes you out of a great moment, anyway.
That said, the vocal/band mesh on Eagle seemed a bit weak. It was my least favourite part of the show. Not just because of the video – I just wasn’t taken by the sound mix. Surprisingly, the crowd on Saturday didn’t seem put off by the two animated videos. In fact, Voulez-Vous really had the audience going – dancing, singing, disco handclaps, A-Ha’s out the wazoo. They loved it. I imagine it might have been one of the night’s very biggest numbers had it been “performed.” Even though I knew it was coming, the transition from LAYLOM to SNC was still a breathtaking moment.
Having read other people’s reviews here, I think I was expecting less from DSMD. But I actually quite liked the presentation. The recognition factor surprised me: I really thought more people would be singing along. And of course that happened every now and then with the deeper cuts. To be honest, that suited me quite well because sometimes the crowd singing was too obtrusive. And the crowd weren’t too fussed about listening to the spoken bits (which were a bit too quiet): only Benny’s moment got any real attention. (Bjorn’s bit about DYMK bordered on cringey, TBH)
Speaking parts aside, I was impressed by how much personality they managed to get into the ABBAtars. It seemed reasonably true to the performances we’ve seen on TV and film over the years. Obviously, body doubles supported the movements but they clearly studied those moves. The ABBAtars themselves are fab. Frida seemed to be the best executed all round – from facial expression to performance energy. Mesmerising. Benny clearly slipped a few quid to the team, because he seemed to have been upgraded to bona fide hottie. Agnetha was beautiful but I think slightly idealised, if that makes sense. She was – is – way more than a range of pretty sadnesses, adjusted for tempo. Maybe Bjorn pissed the team off? I dunno. He didn’t seem especially Bjorny to me. I loved some of the other finer details, like a mic stand rocking back and forth as it found its centre of gravity again.
The videos were all superb. Loved them. The KMKY and LAYLOM ones in particular made me wonder how brilliant the show might be with a VR headset.
The costumes are fantastic. Only the jumpsuits with the rhinestone names seemed to hark back to the old days. Everything – from colour and texture and cut – was beautiful. The scope for a range of ABBAtar dolls shouldn't be overlooked,
I understand that it’s too soon for a “live” album, but I think the occasional single could be warranted. The arrangements have solidified the core ABBAness, but have managed to freshen some of the tracks. To my ears, The Visitors, WAISAD and LAYLOM have been updated, and could work well as promo singles for the show. Maybe SNC too.
My least favourite moment was Eagle, but I’m surprised to say that HIYS didn’t grab me as much as I’d expected. The rest of the show was solid gold climax after climax. ISHFIY was really quite an emotional moment and left me a bit choked up. TWTIA was fab too – my sister was a bit teary there too.
I’ll go again when the setlist changes. Maybe even before. I wondered what kind of coincidence was at play when the first three songs I heard in the foyer afterwards were TACOM, ST and MMM.
Ultimately, I’m thrilled to have experienced that. Uh-MAZING

The ABBAtars themselves are fab... Benny clearly slipped a few quid to the team, because he seemed to have been upgraded to bona fide hottie. Well you know how I feel about Mr Grumpy - veritable stud-muffin at any age in my opinion, but most definitely enhanced for the show. Hahahaha!! I loved reading your review Tony, as I knew I would - great stuff! Thank you.

It's fantastic to see that "we" find the experience out of this world, words can hardly do it justice, but we've all had a good go... Can't wait to see it again, I've always said on set change, so hoping that won't be to much longer now, saw it in the first month of release, time is ticking by now, getting eager to see it and pick up on those little nuances and probably enjoy it more 2nd round rather than being in awe...

I went to the Voyage show last Monday and Me and a friend got dance floor tickets. We were right at the front. I noticed a cameraman filming. Does this mean a dvd may available in case the whole show packs up and relocates to another country?

Hey there and Gday from Australia.
We flew over especially from Oz in October for the show and was so blown away by it. Just reading this thread, i was reliving the whole experience again and great to see a very common denominator which it really is quite mind blowing. My husband and I just kept looking at each other and saying WOW. I had down quite a lot of research about the show since it started so i really went in expecting to be well versed on what to expect and even still no amount of research prepared me for what i saw. For them to open with The Visitors was surreal as that's my favourite track and it really just maintained the pace for me the whole show with the exception of Eagle and VV which i was a tad confused by, but certainly didn't mar the experience at all.
One highlight, pinch me moment where i really wish i had a remote control to rewind was the cut between Lay all your love on me into Summer night city. OMG that literally blew my mind. Even typing this my whole body just gets goosebumps.
As we were travelling with my mum who didn't come to the show, we really wanted her to see it, so literally got back to the hotel and logged into the website and booked the last 3 tickets for the next night even though they weren't seated together, it was going to be the only chance we had to see it again. Mum came with us the following night and loved it too. When I saw her in the foyer i asked what she had thought and she started crying. She said there was a single older lady sitting next to her that was quite overwhelmed by Winner takes it all and starting sobbing, so mum held her for the song as they watched it together.
Such is the power of music hey?
I`m in Melbourne Australia, and producers appear to have confirmed that they are in talks with the city, which would be amazing to get, however a recent article stated Singapore might be the one chosen. Even if it is, its an only an 8 hour flight rather than 24. HA

The more I think about it, the more a venue in Australia for this seems logical. The other side of the world from London, they wouldn’t be competing with each other and would attract people from all over their respective hemispheres/regions.

Oh thats interesting, do you think they would have two productions running at once. That never crossed my mind, but it makes perfect sense hey? My understanding is London is still filling up 98% of the time so i cant see them saying `ok thats it, time to move it` anytime soon. Haha

I can't see them leaving London/going to another location until they've made a healthy profit.
I don't know why Singapore gets mentioned. It's not like they have a lot of fans there or in wider SE Asia. If you are going to have it the other side of the world, then Australia. I am not sure they have the fanbase for a prolonged production.
But don't discount Las Vegas
