If you compare, let's say original Japanese copies of the Head Over Heels single and The Visitors Album with the new Universal products, you'll be shocked how bad the optic quality of the covers has become. It is utterly disturbing how bad Universal is at keeping ABBAs heritage.

Hi all,
I have pre-ordered the visitors box set and the picture discs from sound of vinyl, but also have not yet received the items. I have emailed them and as of yet haven't had a response which is concerning. I too am wondering if there was a delay of releasing these on Dec 1st. It strange as I have pre-ordered many abba items from them before and have never had this problem. If anyone knows of an issue with supply that would be good to know. (This was an early Xmas gift to myself) hehehe.

Are you in the UK, Lilyabba? If not then I suspect they may have been waiting for a job lot of international orders (of any item) before sending out. I’m in the UK and they arrived from the Sound of Vinyl the day after release.
A word of caution. They used a thick cardboard envelope thing for the picture discs - the type that is flat to start with but can expand to accommodate what’s put in it. Consequently this means there is no real strength to the sides. The picture disc sleeve spines have been somewhat flattened in places. It’s not really noticeable unless you look. I intend to keep the cellophane wrapping on them anyway - I merely slit very carefully at the opening so I can get the records in and out. However, one of them - Head Over Heels - does have slight ringwear and a crease in one corner. It’s not bad enough for me to send back and I can live with it, but it’s a bit disappointing. I ordered the Super Trouper and Ring Ring ones from elsewhere and they were much better packaged meaning no damage. The whole lot (box and pic discs) were then in a bubble wrap mailer bag. The box is well packaged so no risk of damage there.

(This was an early Xmas gift to myself) hehehe. Hello Lilyabba, I pre-ordered from Sound of Vinyl as well but didn't receive any despatch notices on or about the release date of 1st December. I had to write quite a few emails about the situation and then late last week, I received a despatch notice via email, but notably, no response to my queries. Therefore, I have no explanation that I can share with you. All I can suggest is if they don't respond to your email within 5 working days, try again - it eventually worked for me. I don't expect to receive my order prior to Christmas so hope the packaging is adequate given the time it will be transit, contending with deliveries at this time of year. I hope your situation turns out well. Kind regards, Phil

Hi all,
Thank you for your replies. I am in the UK and like some of you I have emailed sound of vinyl twice so far but have heard nothing back. So I shall keep trying with the emails, it just makes you disappointed when things like this happen.
Thank you all one again

It might be worth checking in your local record shop for the picture discs. I spotted them yesterday in Tower Records (Dublin) at €15 each, so it looks like they got a retail release. If you were to get them (without paying P&P!) you might get a prompt response from SOV when you cancel that part of the order??

Did anyone get the half-speed remaster of The Visitors? If so, how does it sound? I treated myself to a new sound system and am kinda tempted to splash out. I was given the half-speed remaster of Dusty In Memphis and the sound is incredible (I played the RSD edition of Frida's 1971 album and it sounds even better!).

I have it. It sounds great but the difference to the normal vinyl record is not so big. I did not really expect a better sound because the original release in 1981 was already a top production.
