Super Trouper has a very autumnal quality to me, giving warm and colourful beauty while at the same time having an unmistakeable feel of lateness - I mean that all positive! At the same time, it's to me the most festive ABBA album, not least because Songs like TWOFD and HNY, suitable for the Christmas season. Overall, I'd say the album is classic and timeless. I see it being not so popular as mid ABBA here, but I always considered it top notch, that's why I'm awarding it the first 5/5.
1. The Winner Takes It All - it stands like a monolith, just very difficult to surpass 2. Our Last Summer - almost on par, wonderfully warm and round 3. Lay All Your Love On Me - perfect late ABBA disco with daring and sublime harmonies and writing 4. Super Trouper - again, late ABBA pop perfection with a wonderful melancholic touch 5. Happy New Year - so festive and atmospheric 6. Me And I - excellent uptempo song, I prefer the Dick Cavett live version for its energy and drive 7. The Way Old Friends Do - really beautiful and heartfelt, it fits well on the album 8. The Piper - eerie and touching 9. On And On And On - again, the Dick Cavett live version really sets its energy free 10. Andante, Andante - really beautiful, lovely Frida vocals (despite the bottom spot. Probably it's here because it's a tad cliché a love song)
