This Week 18 Hits has jumped from No.40 to No.11, in Ireland. This is due to at least one Chain Store there having a Sale, by reducing the price of numerous Albums.
Hence why Hits Albums by UB40, (No.14), Chris Rea, (No.16), Diana Ross, (No.21), and Barry White, (No.29), have all re-entered the Irish Top 100 this Week. As have several other Hits Albums.
No.11 is actually the highest Irish Top 100 Position that 18 Hits has ever reached. It got as high as No.12 last Year, but No.11 is its Peak - so far. It has taken it 115 Weeks, in the Top 100, to reach No.11. It has to be the longest time that an Irish Album has taken to get to its highest Position.
If 18 Hits reaches the Irish Top 10, it will be the longest time that any Album has been in the Top 100 there, before it - finally - made the Top 10.

Due to the German VOX TV Channel showing Mamma Mia! & a new ABBA Documentary on July 28th, ABBA Gold has risen from No.76 to No.43 in the latest German Album Chart. It is its 291st Top 100 Week - the 6th most ever. The VOX 'ABBA Night' also affected ABBA Gold in the Swiss Charts - No.71 to No.41, (410 Top 100 Weeks - the most ever), & the Austrian Charts - No.71 to No.43, (309 Top 75 Weeks - the 2nd most ever).
In today's Irish Charts ABBA Gold rises from No.51 to No.38 - 397 Top 100 Weeks. 18 hits re-enters at No.58 in its 136th Top 100 Week.

IN OTHER COUNTRIES CHARTS - AT PRESENT
A)... In the latest Irish Album Chart, Gold is up from No.70 to No.52. It is its 400th Top 100 Week & it is the 1st Album to reach so many Weeks in the Irish Top 100.
B)... In the latest Swiss Charts it is up from No.41 to No.40. It is its 413th Week in the Swiss Top 100 - the most ever.
C)... It is up from No.39 to No.36 in Austria - its 311th Top 75 Week. That is the 2nd most ever.
D)... In Sweden it falls from No.25 to No.37. It is its 198th Week in the Swedish Top 60. It would be on 212 Weeks, but the Swedish Chart was only every 2 Weeks, when Gold first came out, so it lost 14 Chart Weeks - 10 of which would have been Top 10 places.....

Hi Monica,
after 2 very good years of the Abbaforum, unfortunately it has had to close , for personal reasons. So a few of us are migrating to ABBAchat, hopefully a lot more will follow.
looking forward to chatting to new and old fans.

It's partly for financial reasons that it's closing. I note with some optimism that this forum is "hosted for free by ProBoards" so hopefully costs aren't an issue.
Back to the charts and it's clear that the reduction in overall sales over the last few years has resulted in acts having number one albums that hadn't done for many years. Barbra Streisand hadn't had a number one album since 1980 prior to 2009. Since then she's now had two number one albums and a number two.

I agree Alan, if and a big if ABBA released something of new interest , at this moment in time it could potentially be their 10th number one album. In the UK, I'm guessing some remixes , alternative versions etc, as anything new..lol.. Would virtually be a dead cert for number one, but I doubt that's gonna happen... Even dare I say Agnetha were to release a new album it would have a chance...

Yes it is free, Roxanne does pay a small fee to keep the ads down but towards the end of the month usually the last week to several days you might see some ads pop up until the new month starts. But other than that there aren't any financial issues at this time.

The forum is hosted for free - but I pay for the forum name and to keep banner ads away - not too expensive to run this way. Although I think I may need to increase the payment for keeping the ads away. The forum is only allowed a certain number of hits before the ads return unless I pay more. With more members joining, I may need to reassess the situation

Oops, I didn't realise that us lot moving over would cost you more. And I should have guessed that "Hosted for FREE" didn't give the full story! No such thing as a free lunch, as the saying goes.

It's really no issue to me if it costs a little more - it's not a major expense and I think it's worth it to provide an environment such as this for fans But that's right, no free lunches
