With Hans (far left) and his band Rendez-Vous. He was also in the band FX with Benny's son Peter in the '80's. Big lads.

Sometimes still photographs don't do the subject justice. I like them. And yes, I think they've used a bit of artistic leeway for effect. The outfits actually look they're from the Japan tour in 1980 but the hair styles on the girls are from a few years earlier. Must have been fun and games finally deciding on Frida's eye colour. 'They look hazel'......'Err, hang on, they're definitely green in this picture'.....'Well there's little flecks of orange in this one'.....'Arrgghhh !!!!'.

^^^^Those football / ice hockey shirts certainly make it easier to date concerts. These were from consecutive nights. Top picture, 24th Oct '79 in Rotterdam, middle and bottom, 25th in Dortmund.

And a interesting and thought provoking experiment it is. Because it asks the wider question of when a band isn't really the band we know and love anymore if and when one or more members leave. Queen stumbled on without Freddie Mercury which on reflection seems unfathomable and indeed alienated many fans. Certainly AC/DC ploughed on when Brian Johnston came in after the sad demise of Bon Scott. It's probably that looking back after all these years that the four members who were always there, fixed, from start to finish are implanted in our minds and it just feels unthinkable for any of them to not be there. And as even the actual band name reflected the same four individuals maybe the group themselves thought the same.

I wonder if there ever was a contingency plan should something more drastic had happened on tour? They of course cancelled the one concert on the North America tour but what if one of them got ill or injured and more dates were under threat? As pointed out they had backing singers with them that were pretty decent performers in their own right. Thinking about it and weighing it all up, I'd be disappointed that the full line up wasn't there but that dismay would be multiplied if the whole show was cried off especially if it was my only real chance to ever see them live. The late '70's was a time before the big screens were a feature at big concerts and for many of the audience the band would have been small figures in the distance. If they were able to go some way in amending the situation and still put on a good show I'd be thankful for that at least.

It simply has to be a photo-shopped picture or the photographer used some trick. I can well believe Frida could do the splits. There are other pictures showing how flexible she was. But it's not just the height that she is apparently jumping. It's that her right hand appears to be touching the mirror. In fact much of her seems very close to the mirror. Haven't figured how it was done though.

With four days left and only 40% of the way to the required target, it's fairly safe to say the kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is not going to succeed. CMP is already looking at switching to an e-book option. Although that will obviously be a much less expensive way to go and therefore attract more willing purchasers, it personally leaves me cold. It's disappointing but I can appreciate that the cost especially to those who would have to pay more for postage must have been a put off. Hopefully CMP will take stock and come back with more options that will make this work attainable to a wider readership.

^^^^^Yeah, know what you mean. It's a strange picture. Is it a candid family photo or an arty type promotional one? Whatever it has a sadly prophetic feel about it. Hans looks about 4 or 5 years old. Frida, a young mum considering her future? They both have a finger in their mouths, a sign of anxiety.

One photo I just can't seem to find is one taken when they were in Switzerland for the TV Special. I have this picture where Frida is offering a cigarette from a packet of Marlboro's (?) but I'm sure I've seen a follow up one where there's giggling going on as Agnetha is having a crafty puff during a press conference.

Almost blonde really. Not sure myself if it really suited her. Seems to have been a short lived look.

Apologies for the picture quality but the sound is okay. Standard press conference with a tetchy Bjorn hearing the same old questions is lightened by a funny diplomat towards the end

Article in the Swiss Newspaper 'Blick'. (Rough translation) Wonder if he was joking with the last line?
New Song From The Valais Chef COMEBACK OF ABBA STAR FRIDA
17 years ago, Abba star Frida got to meet chef Urs Biner in Zermatt VS. "We looked and felt immediately that we are soul mates," says Biner.
17 years ago, had top chef Urs Biner (53) a special guest at his restaurant Chez Heini in Zermatt VS: Abba star Frida (69) sat down at a table. "It was a magical encounter," Biner be remembered. "We looked and felt immediately that we are soul mates."
Even today, white Biner, who calls himself a musician Dan Daniell what Frida ordered at the time: "sole and vegetables. She loves to eat today. Meat, however, they do not like. "
Since then, Anni-Frid Lyngstad Princess Reuss von Plauen - this is Frida's full name - and Dan Daniell close friends. "We go together like hiking or skiing," says the Valais. "When I'm sad, she is the first person I call." For him, Frida is a "star without airs and graces." Blessed with a big heart and a unique, beautiful voice.
Singing for the Foundation "Frida & Dan Daniell for children»
Now tighten the two musicians together. To celebrate the first ascent of the Matterhorn 150 years ago they added the jubilee song "1865" in English. A German version is planned. "Frida could sing with the big players in this world, but she tuts, which is particularly pleased with me me," he says. The duet was even been her idea.
With the proceeds they have before the goods: It flows into the Foundation "Frida & Dan Daniell of children". This was her heart's desire. "Frida told me from the beginning that they would not last five cents for it," says Biner. Another joint project is already on: "Together climb the Matterhorn."

We'll we know she famously fell on the '77 Tour and did so here on the '75 one so was probably going for the full set.
