I'm not sure if this is lesser known... ...I didn't intend to set the bar too high by saying 'lesser known'; there's not much out there that none of us will have seen before. Anything that may be new to a few people, and a happy memory to others, would be well worth posting ..
This one counts too then:

I'm not sure if this is lesser known or not... Agnetha appeared on Gäst Hos Hagge show in 1985 and sang a few songs live there, apparently altogether unprepared. Especially amusing is the part where she sings Om Tårar Var Guld, while chopping onions (4:10-5:10). Then she sings a few other songs from app. 6:10 onwards.

I was thinking about other Swedish artists out of the Polar family and maybe Gyllene Tider or Eva Dahlgren would be the right choice - both promising acts, not yet so famous as to decline being a support act at the time of ABBA's final world tour.

For me it's easy to choose the best (The Album) and worst (Ring Ring) album. But it's almost impossible to rank the others, they're pretty close to each other and my preferences change. If pressed, I guess I would pick the Waterloo album as the second weakest, but I'm very fond of it anyway. The Visitors, Arrival and Voulez-Vous would fight for second best and it would be a tough competition. ABBA and Super Trouper would be close behind them.

I guess they would choose some fellow Swedish star (preferably a Polar act) to promote him/her abroad - how about Ted Gärdestad? He was close to the ABBA members, great musician and a likely contender for an international stardom...

Heresy? Because we're on an ABBA Forum? :-) Then I'll readily join the club of heretics as I not only think Chess is exceptionally good (and for B&B definitely a step forward) but I'm convinced they surpassed it with Kristina... that is an absolute masterpiece!

I finally decided to buy The Album singles and I must say they look better than the Arrival ones... they're translucent this time. Only the box looks a bit cheap, while the Arrival one was quite classy.

I've just finished reading an interview with Lasse Hallström in the latest ABBA Fan Club's magazine. He reveals that he filmed the whole Royal Albert Hall concert in 1977 and he said the footage is probably still in the Polar vaults. I wasn't aware of that but it definitely gives us a chance of a complete 1977 show on DVD...

Every time I see this thread, a certain line from an unreleased ABBA song springs to my mind. Can anyone guess which one? Hint: the song was sung live during the 1977 concerts. Either I Am an A or Get on the Carousel. And that's without looking up on Wikipedia. Well, that's quite obvious, but I was asking which specific line from these two could be associated with this thread To make it easier, I can reveal it's from I Am An A...

Tomas has released his own version of "Take Good Care Of Your Children", but released after Agnethas version. So actually rather his version is a cover, not the other way round No, seriously, íIn such case I guess neither version can be called a cover. It's the same with Bang-A-Boomerang or Fernando - we can hardly call them covers, even if they were released by somebody else originally, can we?

What songs did Agnetha cover? From the empty void in space and time (my brain):- The Heat Is On (Noosha Fox) Take Good Care of Your Children (Tomas Ledin - though I've never heard this version before) My Colouring Book, If I Thought You'd ever change Your Mind, Walk In The Room Anymore? Is Take Good Care Of Your Children really a cover? I think it was written by Tomas Ledin especially for Agnetha and was never recorded by Ledin himself...

There is no need, for any additional 'new' ABBA Compilations, to take advantage of the July 2018 release of Film 2. Agreed Sorry for misunderstanding.

There are quite many, besides the "cover album" My Colouring Book she recorded many covers during her early days. Many of them were mentioned already, but two of my favourites were not - Som Ett Eko and Vi Har Hunnit Fram Till Refrängen.

IF the 2014 Japanese Triple CD - 'ABBA 40/40 - The Best Selection' - is to be released in the UK etc. in December, Universal could use 'The Singles' Photo for that Compilation. That isn't a bad idea at all Do you mean that such a pointless reissue would make more sense if they used a different cover? :-) We've seen enough of that in the 90's...

Does anybody know more about this release: www.saraiva.com.br/abba-anthology-dvd-9889021.html ? The tracklisting is interesting enough with the solo stuff included. I was just wondering if it's the official videos or TV performances. It looks like it's official.

It would be great but it will sadly never happen. According to official sources Universal has no plans to re-release The Singles as updated version of this compilation is available (Essential Collection). And as for Just Like That, I'm afraid it won't be let out of the vaults as long as Benny is able to speak (to say NO). Recently he said it will be a cold day in hell before Just Like That is released.... What official sources do you mean and the reason it would be good to have a re-release of The Singles: The First Ten Years is due to the fact all their other albums got re-releases even Gracias Por La Musica got a Deluxe Edition. @onlyabba4me summed it up for me quite well. The question if The Singles would be re-released was brought up in ABBA Fan Club's magazine and the answer was basically the same - and they have their information directly from Universal. As for Gracias Por La Música, I don't quite understand it's re-release in the shape of the Deluxe Edition, when we have ABBA Oro with exactly the same content. Of course, it looks much better but it doesn't make sense to have two identical albums on the market - they should delete the ORO compilation in my opinion...

If there would be a Piano 2, What songs would you put in it?
One of the reasons why Benny considers recording Piano 2 (or whatever he's going to call it) is that he wasn't able to include all the songs that HE thought were suitable - he mentioned explicitly The Winner Takes It All, Like An Angel Passing Through My Room and Sunny Girl. Besides these three I would love to hear Lätt Som En Sommarfjäril or Slipping Through My Fingers. Quartet would be good too. And I wonder how Intermezzo would sound, if it even is possible to arrange it for solo piano. From the ones you mentioned I Have A Dream and Chiquitita are quite obvious I think.
As for Nina, Pretty Ballerina - that fast piano part is said to be unplayable - it was speeded up in the studio.

Just another aside... Piano , makes number 12 in the official UK album charts, a great achievement. I believe the second highest ' solo' album behind 'A' and equalling My Colouring Book Great news - another reason to record a follow up album There is an interview with Benny in the last Official Fan Club's magazine and he confirms that he's considering it as he enjoyed making this one. Also he said he would like to record all of Chess and Kristina Från Duvemåla this way but adds that it would be a big project. Personally I think he's too busy to do that. But Piano 2 seems realistic...

Well, if it is true, the question is why on earth they used that night's recording. Were the others even worse? And indeed, Agnetha unfortunately sounds like she's got a cold on certain songs. If she was OK at previous concerts, I wonder why she okayed the release of this one. She certainly was able to sing better - e.g. she sounds great on the recording from Milwaukee...

I prefer the 1977 concerts too. The group seems full of energy and I think that especially Agnetha was in better vocal form back then. Of course I'm glad that we have the ABBA Live at Wembley album (even if the sound really is quite disappointing by ABBA's standards) but I would love to hear some of the 1977 shows in its entirety and in good sound quality.
