So far, we've had - Frida - Andante Andante
- Summer Night City - RSD (Even though I haven't got one)
- ABBA Gold - #15 (The highest since 2008)
We will have- Mamma Mia 2
- ABBA reuniting and 2 new songs
Is this "The Year" for us?
When will The Party in London open?

I haven't heard anything about Summer Night City. What does RSD mean? Record Store Day. They released a 7" to mark it's 40th Anniversary.

I'm sure it's each to one's point of view and all of that, but in my opinion it's not THE year unless we get a hologram tour of Agnetha and Frida as separate performing artists , constructed by either a Japanese hologram company that makes only 2D facing artists like Hatsune Miku or an American-Silicon-Valley-funded hologram company that makes 4D artists such as Roy Orbison; he look like he's standing before you.
Of course, if the solo hologram were to happen, I think it will come after the hologram tour has had its first premiere and have good reception from authoritative sources like New York Times and The Sydney Morning Herald. It would be part as a continuation of the hologram saga that ABBA is going through.
In order for that to happen, both girls would re-record sufficient vocals that reflect how they would perform their songs if they toured live albeit in a lower key as they age, but they stay young in the hologram image.
This advantage of the girls recording their voices for live performances would stay true to the purpose of a hologram concert, and not be some "a studio vocal that was isolated from a tape comes to your city".
And of course that is great news that ABBA is once again thriving in the UK charts. I wish more effort in promotion was done in the USA to sufficiently call it "ABBA overtakes Pink Floyd in Billboard Vinyl albums", provided that the Billboard Vinyl albums is more easily tangible than the hot 200 something, which is just basically Soundcloud rap garbage.
And Gorel Hanser said there are no plans for a live Australian concert CD. Woe to Polar, once again...

And Gorel Hanser said there are no plans for a live Australian concert CD.... Where did she say that? Great pity... But then... we've been told a thousand times that ABBA would never record again too

And Gorel Hanser said there are no plans for a live Australian concert CD.... Where did she say that? Great pity... But then... we've been told a thousand times that ABBA would never record again too Michal I believe that was at the ABBA Weekend conference, but I don't have too much time to skim it down. I have been binge-stagramming since ABBA announced that they were reuniting as a hologram and in the studio, lol "We have gone through the recordings, but decided not to release that. It was a decision made by ABBA that... we never know." -Mia Segolsson, 8 May 2018, at ABBA The MuseumBe forewarned, Gorel and Mia goes full snobbish in this "You never know" vaudeville shtick.

My concern is overexposure. I love ABBA and their music as much as the next person but people can turn very quickly and with all this ABBA-related stuff happening it's not inconceivable that folk will have had enough. Even I'M sick to death of hearing Mamma Mia (the song) trotted out (same with Dancing Queen, and I NEVER thought I'd EVER feel that way) and although I'll probably go to see the second Mamma Mia! film, I don't have my hopes up that it'll be much cop.
I'm honestly the most excited about the two new ABBA songs and as for the ABBAtar tour, well, we'll see. The documentary in December will give us more of a clue as to what to expect and maybe then I'll get really excited! I never got to see ABBA on tour so this opportunity sounds thrilling....I can suspend my disbelief....especially if the avatars are going to be incredibly life-like!
What I'd LOVE to see next are OFFICIAL portraits of all four together again, as 'ABBA'. That will make my heart glad.

I tend to agree with over exposure. ^^^
Nowt so fickle as folk, as they say. A lot is happening all at once, mind you we have waited a long time, and now we're moaning, surely not......
For all it's Hype, Chess has been panned, mind you at £160 for some tickets...emmm, and that will be over fairly soon, a short run.
MM2 will peak in July August, then a break to Christmas, and the new tracks I'm hoping that the troughs between the peaks will be enough to keep everyone happy.
I just hope come 2019, that the ABBAtars show is not over priced, as much as I love them, I won't pay ridiculous prices.
its going to be an interesting year...

Who's moaning? I guess you must mean those dissing the ABBAtar thing already without waiting to see for themselves. It certainly has piqued my interest, what with it being cutting edge technology and all that.
I didn't know Chess had been panned, that's a shame.
As I said, I'm happy about the two new ABBA songs. But I've never been what you'd call a fan of the Mamma Mia! films. I think the first one was garbage and ultimately did ABBA's legacy no favours. The story is stupid and unbelieveable, the singing DIRE. I've never gotten over Benny praising Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.. her screeching The Winner Takes It All was embarrassing to witness and as for his SOS.. heaven help us! There is the 'feel good' argument and I get that but what annoys me is the bubblegum/karaoke aspect of it. It reduces ABBA to one of those so-called guilty pleasures... ''Let's have a dance to ABBA because we're drunk and it's a wedding and we'll laugh about it afterwards because ABBA aren't to be taken SERIOUSLY, are they?'' I STILL see and hear ABBA being referred to as a 'disco' group? WTF? They were (are!) so much more than that! (Not that there's anything wrong with 'disco', it's been unfairly maligned in the past.)
Anyway, rant over. I'm just not one of those blinkered fans who blindly love anything ABBA are associated with. I simply want ABBA's music to be taken SERIOUSLY *sobs*

I wasn't " dissing " you, honest.....
There are a lot of moaners out there, but like I said in another thread, apart from a very very few people, non of us no anything, so let's leave moaning until after the fact , if it's deserved.
Im torn, really totally get your thoughts on MM1 and potentially !!! MM2, they are never going to win oscars, possibly Raspberries... i can see for and against, but if I had to fall into a camp, I'm would go for nearly anything to hear the music again , you could argue if it wasn't for all of the interest over the years, they would have just slipped away and we wouldn't be getting these 2 new tracks.
So in a few years when all this hype is over when I'm older and greyer than I already am, I will still have all this to look back on and reminisce, and remember that I was among many of course, one of the original fans, and that will never die, how many fandoms can have something still going on after 44 plus years, very few...
Their legacy... well time will tell, but I'm hopeful that the music will out live all these films, shows etc and we will all be saying that cliche of cliches..Thankyou...( no I won't say it...lol) 😀

Oh, I know Graham. I'm sure we're of a similar view. We just want ABBA and their music to have the appreciation it deserves. It does, of course, in many ways. The members of ABBA are currently considered living legends and their talents are undeniable. There's just still a contingent that pigeon-holes their music and it irritates me. But I guess Mamma Mia! has indeed kept interest going. I think my frustration stems from hidden gems on the albums going unnoticed.
