So for those of you who saw the movie, I noticed that at least 2 songs on the cast recording weren't in the movie I saw:
I Wonder (Departure)
by Lily James & Jessica Keenan Wynn & Alexa Davies
and
The Day Before You Came
by Meryl Streep
Are there versions of the movie where these songs are in the movie? If so...what happens in these scenes!?
Also, at the end, during the party scene at the hotel, there is a guy on stage playing a song on an (electric?) guitar. It was the one Abba song that I couldn't place. Any thoughts?

Flip37 -- They definitely Filmed 'I Wonder (Departure)'. Then they cut it from the Film.
I suspect that they also Filmed Meryl Streep singing 'The Day Before You Came'.
It is pretty obvious, to me, that both Scenes will be 'Bonus Features', on the DVD of 'Mamma Mia! 2'. That will be out in November - if the release schedule of the 1st 'Mamma Mia!' DVD is to be copied.

"The day before you came" is one of ABBA's most beloved songs. Meryl Streep sings it amazingly in a new recording found on the soundtrack to "Mamma Mia: Here we go again". But the song did not fit into the movie. "I felt I had to record the song with Meryl," says Benny Andersson. But we can not end a movie with the world's sadest song.
The one who heard the soundtrack that came out July 13 is surprised that "The day before you came" is not part of the movie. "Yes, I can understand that" says Benny Andersson. She did it so well and I thought the song might be included in the end credits. It was recorded, and I would definitely have it on the record. "The songs are the subordinate story," says Björn Ulvaeus. No matter how good the song is, it will fall if it does not fit the story.
The listener to the album "Mamma Mia: Here we go again" gets a few strong songs that are not included in the movie. "I Wonder" with Lily James and "The Day Before You Came". "The scene with "I Wonder" was cut away," says director Ol Parker. But "The Day Before You Came" was never included in the film. Though they tried. Ol Parker, who wrote, among other things, "Hotel Marigold", found the story of the film together with Richard Curtis, the creator of "Four Weddings and Funeral", "Notting Hill" and "Love Actually." When the two wrote the story, they started with the songs.
- Richard has a caravan on his plot and we sat in it for three days. We put up pieces on the wall with the ABBA songs we wanted to bring. Then we zickzacked between them. "The Day Before You Came" is Richard Curtis great favorite of all the ABBA songs, said Ol Parker. Richard was very stubborn. "The Day Before You Came" was included in the action. But we could not get it. However, there is a moment in the movie when the melody is played by the Greek band. They built the movie bit by bit after the songs. "We knew early that we would end with "My Love, My Life", says Ol Parker.
Finally, there were six songs left on the wall that they did not get in. Then Ol Parker got an idea. - I described a story for Richard and improvised for ten minutes. He did not understand where I was going until I revealed the name "Fernando". Then that song came in the movie and is now sung by Cher and Andy Garcia.
But "The Day Before You Came" has to wait a while for its moment on the movie screen. "We really tried to get it in the film," said Ol Parker.

Apparently, there is an ABBA Song at the very end of the closing credits. It is an 'Out Take' of The Customs Officer singing 'Take A Chance On Me'. Most people don't see it, as they have left the Cinema by then...
In the USA, the 2nd Film has had a bigger Weekend than the 1st - almost $35 Million, to the 1st Film's almost $28 Million. However, it will be a No.2 USA Box Office Film - like the 1st was - because 'Equalizer 2' has beaten it, with an almost $36 Million opening Weekend. It does not matter, as predictions are that Film 2 will make far more cash overseas etc., than 'Equalizer 2'.

Two prominent tracks..
Hasta Manana, nearly the whole track was played in the background, vocals as well as music, at the party where Bill and Rosie finally got together..
I Let The Music Speak, instrumental, as young Donna walks around Paris and goes into the restaurant....
Im sure there are more.....very brief snippets...

HIYS live at Wembley is even better than the album track (isn't it?)

Thanks for posting that, Martin. I had never heard that live version of Hole In Your Soul.
I mentioned in another thread that a radio talk show host said he is not going to see the movie and that he said the first one "sucked". Well, he again said he is not going to see this movie, and when someone asked if he doesn't like musicals, he said something to the effect the he likes musicals when the music is good, insinuating that ABBA's music isn't good. I've seen in our new member flip37's profile that he is in Chicago. It's possible that he is familiar with this radio talk show host. I am in the coverage area of the Chicago media, and that guy is on a Chicago station.

He was probably miffed Abba used Glasgow instead of Cihicago in Super Trouper! 😉 I remember listening to the US chart show in the seventies and was amazed at the amount of dross the Americans were buying. Reallly could not get my head around why songs like TNOTG, KMKY, SOS, tWTIA, one of us and Lay all your love on me did not feature in the Top 5 when some awful songs did. Even Voulez Vous deserved higher position. Always thought Eagle would have been a good single release there in 1978.

Well, TNOTG, KMKY, SOS, and TWTIA are all among ABBA's 14 Top 40 hits in the USA.

Strange that. I have never heard of this nobody. Bet most the world have not. Probably not even known outside of Chicago. Now ...Abba known the planet over and very successful. It must really irk him to not have their fame, success and talent,

That Hasta Manana was sung by Helen Sjöholm! Such a shame, they talked all the time when the song played in the background. Now I hope this will appear in some way on another record...
Sure they could not put it on the soundtrack album, it would have outshined all the other singers...

It must really irk him to not have their fame, success and talent, Of course most of the world has never heard of him. He is just a local radio talk show host and is well-known only in the Chicago area. And I'm sure he doesn't aspire to be world-famous. He is popular with his listeners. I like him, otherwise I wouldn't listen to his show regularly. It just irritates me when he says something negative about ABBA (or The Wizard Of Oz, which he hates-the movie, that is). Fortunately, he rarely has occasion to mention ABBA (or The Wizard Of Oz).

Under Attack and The Day Day Before You Came can also be heard in the background during the hotel opening scenes. From memory, one of them is when Sophie and Ruby are talking, before the Fernando scene. Benny plays Our Last Summer on the piano prior to Harry and Donna singing Waterloo. Slipping Through My Fingers can be heard as everyone arrives at the church for the christening. I want to say an instrumental of Does Your Mother Know plays when (old) Tanya and Rosie are first seen on the boat heading to the island... not sure if my mind is associating this with the DYMK part of the first film though.
