It's an odd thing isn't? Bjorn taking lead vocals, when he had two of the best singers of all time in the band. Generally, though, I think it was a good thing. Added a nice contrast. And amazing to think they had a huge international hit on one such song! But how many of the 98 Abba songs did he take lead vocals? I can think of DYKM, WDIHTBM, MMS and CW off top of head, but I reckon there must be around 10 in total. Would perhaps make an interesting compilation...

I made this list a while back when I was trying to make a fictional compilation album cover, and I can't guarantee that all of Bjorn's lead vocals are included there, but I think I wrote down most of them.
I personally love Bjorn's vocals and part of me hopes that he and Benny will at least be recording backup vocals for the new tracks that we'll eventually get to hear.

Thanks for these replies.
Must admit, I had no idea that Benny had ever sung lead vocals!

I don't recognize the titles Gammal fäbodspalm and Med en enkal tulipen. Gammal fäbodspalm is the opening track that they would play before Voulez-Vous during the 1979 tour, and after some digging, I believe Med en enkal tulipen is a song that they sang at Gorel Hanser's 50th birthday. I wish there was a recording somewhere.

They rehearsed it beforehand in the bathroom and then sang it for Görel all four together. Unfortunately no recording of it ever leaked onto the Internet (the guests were very disciplined :-))

Suzy-Hang-Around has Benny on lead vocals (the only such song in ABBA's catalog… he has some solo lines in Here Comes Rubie Jamie (or Terra Del Fuego) too, but only a snippet of this song was ever released).

Maybe Summer Night City should be added to the list as well? Also he has a little bit in Honey, Honey, but it's not really lead vocals. There's also Åh, vilka tider but I don't think it's considered an actual ABBA song.
That's very true, Suzy-Hang-Around is the only ABBA song where Benny sings lead. I made a video about all the times that Benny sings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPtTIEBFwFQ) - I just hope this isn't going too off topic.

Ah, you're right. I've forgotten about Åh, Vilka Tider. It's definitely an ABBA song... even more so than for example She's My Kind Of Girl, which is a B&B recording with no contribution from the ladies whatsoever. It became an ABBA song only after it was included on the CD version of the Ring Ring album in some territories.

That was for her 30th birthday in 1979. At Gorel's 50th birthday party in 1999, all four ABBA members were there and performed a song for her. Kinda like Bjorn and Benny's party in 2016 where Agnetha and Frida sang "The Way Old Friends Do." There are some photos of the event here: raffem.com/ABBAafter1991.htm#1999
