Hi, I only acquired a laptop in 2012 and discovered by chance the ABBA4ever forum. I was very interested in reading polls of Top 100 ABBA Songs regularly submitted by fans. I was very disappointed and saddened when the forum closed in October 2014. Are there any links which still exist regarding the fans favourite ABBA songs ? I would be most grateful if there are links to the old forum. Thank you.

I'm not great at this technical stuff...however I remember at the time, ( I was a contributor to the top 100) that all data from that forum would be lost, but I also remember someone ( female ) having comprehensive notes on all the top 100 compiled about 50 ? Plus from memory. There were two ways of calculating the overall top 100, one was inverses points, i.e. Number 1, 100 points number 2 , 99 and so on, the other way was based on the Eurovision system, 12 points for 1st 10 from second 8 for 3rd and so on down to 10th place getting 1 point.. Alas I can't remember seeing that member on this site.. it was a great way of seeing and friendly arguement of peoples choices, I remember one being quite controversial, Me and Bobbys Brother being a members number one !!! It was great seeing old and new fans opinions ... Hopefully someone can come up with that data or the name of the member...we lost a lot of great characters when it closed

Yes, I enjoyed reading that ABBA 100 thread, too. I was a member on the abba4ever forum for about four months in 2009, but I didn't contribute to that thread. (If the thread was in existence then - maybe I was reading it later as a non-member.). It was either Knowing Me, Knowing You or The Winner Takes It All that came out on top, if I remember right, according to either scoring system foreverfan mentioned.

Perhaps it was Ivana? A Frida fan, she was from Belgrade.
I never got around to doing a top 100.
I have fond memories of abba4ever. There were some great people on there (and some not so great, but hey that's life).

It wasn’t Ivana. It was a UK member but I can’t remember her name. She kept a spreadsheet of results, and would them comment on results on the latest one to say how they’d deviated from the average.

I wonder who it was then? I'd know the names if I saw them but I've drawn a blank.

Oh that rings a bell! If only I'd kept a note of the names of people.

I wonder who it was then? I'd know the names if I saw them but I've drawn a blank. I don’t know. I can picture the photo of her. She was in her 50s. She was one of the “inner circle” as I called them, as she went to “Roo” every year. However, I wouldn’t say she was part of the clique (as some were...)

I remember Gill and Lenke and someone else with dark hair and a Greek type goddess name but everyone else eludes me.

The man who liked Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother was some bloke called Toni from Germany.
Just stuck in my mind for some reason.

It was definitely Gill. I remember because I did my Top 100 fairly late in the day and my number 1 coincided with hers.
Pretty sure my Top Ten was something very much like (and it wouldn't change too much if I did it again now):
1. The Visitors 2. Eagle 3. Lovelight 4. Knowing Me Knowing You 5. Head Over Heels 6. Hey Hey Helen 7. So Long 8. Slipping through My Fingers 9. Two for the Price of One 10. Voulez-Vous

Yes, Gill seems right. I couldn’t remember her name but now you mention her, that fits.
Was it Marnix that had Just Like That as his top track?

Hi, It would be great if we could compile a top 100 poll of favourite ABBA songs. My top ten as follows, 10. The Name Of The Game 9. Andante Andante 8. One Of Us 7. Kisses Of Fire 6. Eagle 5. S.O.S. 4. Knowing Me Knowing You. 3. Gimme Gimme Gimme ( A Man After Midnight ) 2. Move On 1. The Winner Takes It All
I actually have been listening to ABBA Gold today to cheer myself up because of the dire summer weather we are having at the moment. Thank you all for your comments re The Top 100 ABBA Songs.

Josef, your right it was Toni from Germany!!! Alas where have they all gone... Yes Graham, it all seems so long ago now. I barely remember a lot of people but I hope they are well and happy. As for where they've gone, I guess some will have joined that horrendous cliquey group on Facebook. Others may simply have moved on and may not even be on the Internet anymore, who knows? I might take the opportunity to do an ABBA top 10 or even 100 but it is a mammoth task. I daresay just a top 10 is very difficult as there are just so many excellent songs. I know it would include The Visitors, When I Kissed The Teacher and a lot of the big hits. You see? A top 10 is SO hard to do!

^^^^^ If you do a top 10/20/100 I'll do one !! There's a challenge... perhaps a top 10 or 20 would be easier, better do it before the new tracks are released.... oh we've plentry of time. months even possibly years ..lol it could be fun to get people interested again, and to be truthful, not that " difficult" to do and everyone would have an opinion...

I'll definitely have a crack at it. I'd actually written notes and compiled one of sorts but then abba4ever shut down. That's the thing with me- I'm not really too interested in what someone's top songs are- I want to know WHY. I like to get to the nitty-gritty of what a song means to you. Although I also appreciate not everyone's as verbose as me. But a few words isn't too much to ask.

I can't believe that I actually had the patience to rank ALL of the songs on the last forum. I think I even added notes for some of the songs?
Can't see that happening again any time soon, but I am happy to throw my current Top 10 into the mix, for what it's worth.
1. The Visitors 2. The Day Before You Came 3. Like An Angel Passing Through My Room 4. If It Wasn't For The Nights 5. Knowing Me, Knowing You 6. The Name Of The Game 7. Lay All Your Love On Me 8. Should I Laugh Or Cry? 9. Angeleyes 10. When All Is Said And Done
I checked: this matches my iTunes play count. With regard to the Top 3, there is only a hair's breadth in the rankings - any one of them could be No. 1.

Hi, Can I be the first to start a poll of favourite songs from ABBA ? I have compiled a Top 50 Chart of my favourite ABBA songs. It would be better to make some additional note at the side of each song explaining why I like it and whether it evokes any special memory for me but I think this will take too long. Maybe I will at a later date, but for now counting down my Top 50,
50. Hole In Your Soul ( a rock stomper ) 49. On And On And On ( headbanging stuff ) 48. Elaine ( a slice of experimental new wave ) 47. Head Over Heels ( frivolous fun ) 46. I Am The City ( something different from ABBA ) 45. When All Is Said And Done ( wistful and melancholic ) 44. The Piper ( back to the days of yore) 43. The King Has Lost His Crown ( rousing disco stomper ) 42. Lay All Your Love On Me ( electro pop gem ) 41. Voulez-Vous ( sleazy but in a tasteful way ) 40. Ring Ring ( a banging number ) 39. Waterloo ( Eurovision triumph ) 38. The Way Old Friends Do ( a fitting finale ) 37. Dance ( While The Music Still Goes On ) ( reflectively rousing ) 36. Hasta Manana ( yearningly sweet ) 35. Gonna Sing You My Lovesong ( innocent and sentimental ) 34. Mamma Mia ( irresistibly catchy ) 33. Take A Chance On Me ( harmless joyous pop ) 32. Angeleyes ( very Motownesque ) 31. Bang-A-Boomerang ( a playful little ditty ) 30. Thank You For The Music ( nostalgically honest ) 29. Honey Honey ( another slice of innocent pop ) 28. Chiquitita ( melodically melancholic ) 27. Dancing Queen ( a classic floorfiller for sure ) 26. I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do ( another innocent pop tune ) 25. As Good As New ( an extremely uplifting number ) 24. One Man One Woman ( very emotionally reflective ) 23. My Love My Life ( exquisitely perfect ) 22. Fernando ( very atmospherically beautiful ) 21. That's Me ( upliftingly joyful ) 20. The Day Before You Came ( a haunting slice of melodrama ) 19. Cassandra/Just Like That ( in joint position ) ( the former : dynamic and captivating the latter : a potential pop masterpiece 18. Soldiers ( an epic track ) 17. Tiger ( a bombastic rocker ) 16. Our Last Summer ( wistfully reminiscent ) 15. Happy New Year ( yearning and reflective ) 14. If It Wasn't For The Nights ( a mighty disco stomping anthem ) 13. When I Kissed The Teacher ( a slice of glorious uplifting pop ) 12. I've Been Waiting For You ( endearingly beautiful ) 11. Slipping Through My Fingers ( very emotionally poignant ) 10. The Name Of The Game ( a wonderful fusion of multi vocals ) 9. Andante Andante ( exquisitely gentle ) 8. One Of Us ( very moving and extremely catchy ) 7. Kisses Of Fire ( a disco rocking gem of a tune ) 6. Eagle ( a majestically soaring anthem ) 5. S.O.S. ( unforgettably dynamic and soaring ) 4. Knowing Me Knowing You ( an undisputed melancholic epic ) 3. Gimme Gimme Gimme ( A Man After Midnight ) ( an absolute disco blockbuster ) 2. Move On ( endearingly warm and captivating ) 1. The Winner Takes It All ( a heartfelt and devastatingly melancholic pop classic ) That is it folks !

I have always really liked "The Piper". A different style from ABBA. A very mystical and captivating song from my favourite ABBA studio album.
