It is a pity that ABBA never seized the opportunity to re-produce live versions of some of the best songs towards the end of their career that were left by the wayside. Notably, TWTIA, OLS, HNY, LAYLOM, OOF, WAISAD, TV, TDBYC and Cassandra. Agnetha once said in a recent interview that it was a shame that ABBA never performed TWTIA live. The tracklist would have been more impressive. Maybe these songs were much harder to replicate live because of the incredible vocal ranges. You can't have everything, I guess.

Angeleyes was the only track from Voulez-Vous never performed live or mimed on a TV show. As there’s no video for it either there’s no visual interpretation of it whatsoever, despite it being a substantial UK/Irish hit. Pity.

It is very strange that The Winner Takes It All was not performed on the Dick Cavett Meets ABBA Special. I've read two theories: 1. Agnetha didn't feel like performing such a vocally-challenging song live 2. The group didn't think it was a good idea to let Agnetha sing this break-up song, actually describing quite faithfully what was going on between Frida and Benny at the time - maybe it would have been too much for Frida...

Thanks Michal, those are very logical reasons and answers my question. Agnetha always said that she never felt comfortable performing live whereas Frida did enjoy performing live. Quite a few of the songs that I mentioned were break up songs and maybe not appropriate to replicate live at that time back in 1981 as you have pointed out even though they are ABBA's tour-de-force. But they did sing KMKY live on the Dick Cavett show.
Alan, " Angeleyes " could have been included in the song set list for the Dick Cavett show. I agree it is a shame that it wasn't.

Add Andante Andante to that list. It was due to be sung Live At Dick Cavett Show but it wasn’t to be.

Sorry, for forgetting AA. The song was indeed included but wasn't it scrapped in a last minute change of plan.

I have been an ABBA fan since 1975, and I have still never seen 'Dick Cavett meets ABBA' in its entirety...

I have only seen snippets of ABBA on The Dick Cavett Show on Youtube.

Indeed and come to mention it MLML too. When the new songs are released and say it is two for the time being than it would be interesting to have an ABBA compilation released with all the songs that were never performed live on a double disc. I know it is pure fantasy on my part but I'm being honest. I don't think this is likely to happen and let's hope there is a chance of more than the two new songs planned for release.
