Today's interview on BBC, Benny said that he thinks it is but could be persuaded by the others. Bjorn said more or less the same but appeared more open to the suggestion.

The question is, was this interview definitely done after The Guardian one? Benny seemed quite final in that one, unless the others had a quiet word with him after.

Hi Alan . It was after the Guardian. I am hopeful with a good chart performance worldwide and maybe a top 10 showing in the USA they may consider recording a few more songs but maybe not a full album. Depends on their health too. Benny says he is in his studio everyday anyway and if the others enjoyed it so much it beats playing golf. They might just finish those two songs. Who know? I am just so glad we have this wonderful album.

Today's interview on BBC, Benny said that he thinks it is but could be persuaded by the others. Bjorn said more or less the same but appeared more open to the suggestion. I mentioned a while back that I thought whether they carried on or not depended mainly on two things. One was the critical acclaim that the album received (its commercial success has pretty much been guaranteed all along). The second was whether the women wanted to do any more. If the album had been ridiculed and received across-the-board poor reviews, I think that would have really affected Benny and Bjorn's desire to continue. Thankfully, the album has been generally well received despite that initial slating in the Sydney Herald. Frida and Agnetha have been protected from pretty much all the promotional exposure/work that a new album typically entails. And they both have had lots of compliments paid about their singing, particularly Frida. They might decide that they've rather enjoyed this model of music making - something they've never done before. Benny and Bjorn seem to have been working almost constantly over the years, so can't see why they would particularly want to stop now unless ill health comes along. So, I'd say there's a fair chance they might well do a little more, if their health allows. An increasing number of singers in their late 70s and 80s are still performing and releasing new stuff e.g. Tom Jones, Paul McCartney and Cliff Richard.

I think Benny is going to have his arm twisted ! :-)
There is a good commercial reason for doing a few more tracks even if they don't commit to a full album. Adding a couple of new songs every now and then to the Voyage concert set is a very good way of getting more interest, selling more tickets and keeping it going a lot longer. It also helps sell a deluxe album version. I think they might find it quite fun to watch the ABBATARS perform a new song every now and then !

Does anyone know what the state of play is with Benny's BAO Orchestra? Did they split for good several years ago (i.e. pre Voyage)? Or did they effectively just stop temporarily whilst he spent a couple of years doing Abba stuff, with every intention of returning to BAO? If they'd split (or he 'retired' the band), guess that makes it less likely that Abba would carry on, as he would have already decided to retire from the music industry. Thanks.

There was no official announcement about splitting BAO. And they're releasing a new single tomorrow, even if it is just an old live recording. Benny also talked about his orchestra in one of the recent interviews and there wasn't even a hint that it was over. So who knows. But I guess ABBA's new album and the avatar concerts have kept Benny busy during the past few years, so he probably didn't have time for BAO. Their future probably depends on whether there will be any more ABBA activity.

So, no hint at all that the BAO orchestra have called it a day, yet Benny implies it's Abba's age that is the main reason why it's all over for them, even though most of the other Abba members are younger than him. What's the situation with BAO in terms of other people? I guess it's a lot more fluid than Abba. From what I read, it seems they have two virtually permanent singers, one of whom is a lot younger than Abba but I don't know about anyone else in the band. So, maybe it's the fluidity of his BAO and the relative youth of other members that means he doesn't feel age would be such a problem for them going forward?

Trying not to be rude here, but it just feels like these Abba songs are being butchered!
If Benny's keen to carry on making music, surely it would be preferable to record new stuff with A&F if they'd like to?

Slight correction but only Agnetha is younger than Benny, by well over three years. Frida is a year older and Björn was born about 20 months before. Frida’s already hinted she’d like to do more, and Björn almost certainly would if it wasn’t for Benny.

Trying not to be rude here, but it just feels like these Abba songs are being butchered! Well, these two actually sound quite good. The one I don't like much is their rendition of Kisses Of Fire. On the other hand (and don't stone me now), Helen's version of Money Money Money is almost better than the original:
