As a thought...
I guess as there are now 10 studio albums, we could rank each album as stated, and the top 2 or 3 from each album then go through to a " Grand Final " top 20 or 30.
Singles like Fernando GGG and B sides could be entered to the deluxe version as not to be left out....
Could be easier than trying to do a complete top 100 plus....

Good work guys, carry on posting your megarates and album rankings. I do like the idea of a ranking of ABBA's studio albums and a top three of our personal favourite tracks. I will amend my megarate in due course to allow for " the non singles " category. This will ensure the forum is " a hive of activity ". As Johnny has mentioned an ABBA Top 20 would be fun especially with the new ABBA songs but there is " ABBA-solutely " no rush. Sorry about the pun I couldn't resist it. Are we supposed to submit three favourites from each album plus three favourite non-album tracks, which will then form our Top 30? That's not a good idea, I think, as for example my Top 3 songs from Ring Ring will be far behind ANY song from The Album... Also I think that these megarate "votes" would deserve a thread of their own, otherwise it will be a total mess here and it will be difficult to follow the individual rankings among the other posts in this thread. So I would suggest Alan creates a special thread for the Megarate and move the corresponding posts there, if it's possible and if we can ask our moderator for such a tedious task  |

Michal - the 3 favourite songs per album is just a bit of fun. Of course the 3 from 9 studio albums and 3 fave non-album singles, plus B sides aren't your all time favourites.

And on top of it all, my preferences change with time of course. So these rankings are valid today but who knows, how they would look next week... |

Interesting to read how different ABBA fans can be in their selections 'this week' ( ) In fact, I'm using this 'changeable/variable factor' as a lame excuse not to bother myself. But some of my selections would need to be tiresomely qualified anyway. For example, DDD would be one of my top three from Arrival - I love the tune, but I find its lyrics a bit weird and a turn-off for a lively, melodic little pop song. |

Richard, I agree with you about DDD. It is a charming and quirky pop song. Both Agnetha and Frida's joint vocals are lovely. It is one of the ABBA tracks that I have re-discovered.

I forgot to do the last part, the 3 songs not on original albums. I'll choose Gimme Gimme Gimme, The Day Before You Came and Lovelight. I adore Lovelight.
Incidentally, I've always liked Dum Dum Diddle. I don't have a problem with the lyrics, just the silly title. Same with Bang-A-Boomerang...daft title but I can't argue with the lyrics overall. It has a great message.

Joseph, BAB is a great fun pop song. ABBA are enjoying themselves in the accompanying video. I find I am listening to " Lovelight " more and more. Another great tune.

The way this is organised, won't some tracks poorer in the grand scheme sense benefit from being on albums that aren't outstanding as whole, while better 'minor' tracks on the strongest albums suffer? (If Don't Shut Me Down were on Arrival or The Album, I doubt it would elbow its way into anyone's top three tracks.) Maybe I've got the gist wrong. Cheers! I've been lurking but haven't posted, because for one thing I've found it difficult to connect with the Voyage album (beyond the majestic I Still Have Faith In You and a blast of the old ABBA vocal imperiousness that Just A Notion represents, it feels like a bit of a left-it-too-late barrel-scrape [edit: too harsh] mish-mash), and on top of that I have next to no interest in how it performs chart-wise.

Even the same Top 3! And I thought I would be burnt to death for the heresy of not including Take A Chance On Me. But it's exactly as you say - I feel the songs are of such a high quality throughout the album, that it's almost impossible to choose three favourites. |

Haha, it hadn't registered that you'd picked the same three tracks from The Album! Thinking about it some more, it actually wasn't that hard to pick a top three; there was a bit of a pang at having to leave Eagle out, but everything else I'd rate at a slightly lower level. Take A Chance On Me I'd probably put next to last; it's great, but it seems a bit of a calculated throwback move; a strong sing-along placed right on the heels (talons?) of Eagle in order to get back on-board anyone alienated by the daringly expansive and progressive opener.
