Today - Friday 20th May - The British Phonographic Industry, (The B.P.I.), has given a UK Platinum Award to 'The Winner Takes It All'. It is nothing to do with its 1980 UK Sales. It is for 600,000+ Sales since November 2004. So, with its 565,000, (some say 545,000), Sales in 1980 added in, it is now a UK Million Seller. It joins 'Mamma Mia', 'Dancing Queen', (2 x Platinum since 2004), and 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!', which also have gone UK Platinum, since November 2004. All 4 of those ABBA Singles are now UK Million Sellers. Not bad, when you consider that ABBA used to have Zero UK Million Selling Singles.
ABBA have 6 UK Million Selling Albums, with 'Greatest Hits', (2,606,000), and 'ABBA Gold', (around 6,150,000), in 1st and 2nd place. 'Voyage' could eventually reach 450,000 to 500,000 UK Sales, but it will take a long time. If ABBA had returned in - say - 2000 - Album Sales would still be huge and 'Voyage' would have become their 7th UK Million Selling Album. But, Album Sales are now a fraction of what they once were.
Thanks for the update, Colin. What are the official stats these days? I thought Super Trouper had crept up into second place behind Dancing Queen as the biggest seller. Has TWTIA overtaken? If anyone can be trusted in these matters, it's you!

HOMETIME -- You are right! I was so busy looking at ABBA's 4 Platinum Singles, since 2004, that I forgot about their 2 other UK Million Selling Singles. Neither have reached UK Platinum status, (since 2004), but both have reached a Million UK Sales - if we combine their 1977, and 1980, Vinyl Sales, with their Post 2004 Download, and Streaming Sales. The 2 ABBA Singles, that I forgot about, are 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' and 'Super Trouper'. So ABBA now have 6 UK Million Selling Singles. The next 2 ABBA Singles, that look set to reach a Million UK Sales, are 'Fernando' and 'Take A Chance On Me'. Both are on well over 900,000 UK Sales.
