Yes, Benny thinks they only have 15 really good songs. And he doesn’t like JLT!

.[...] I would be pushed to name 20 Excellent Songs by any Major contemporary Popular Artists. It's all down to mostly Personal taste, and all Bands Artists have weak songs like the l do"s and and Ring Ring's. [...] Same here regarding naming 20 excellent songs of any artist I like. Perhaps, unlike a some avid ABBA fans, the best artists are highly self-critical of their work; and Benny seems to be very much in this category. Maybe he thinks "twenty excellent ABBA songs" an exaggeration?! But I'm sure he regards a number of ABBA songs as good to very good at least. By the way, undertheappletree, I don't think Benny (nor me, as it happens ) would agree with you about Ring Ring. I read somewhere, a few years ago, that he still thought - at that time at least - that RR was a good song and that he liked it. And a number of fans on this forum have expressed their preference for Ring Ring over Waterloo, for example. But, as per usual, it's music and so down to personal taste, as you say.. The Spectator Critic coined the Phrase the Ring Ring's and the I Do's has the ABBA Durge, Personally l have always favoured Ring Ring', over Waterloo also, l like the French language, version of Waterloo' more, and l also Prefer ' Watch Out' the B side to A side of the Single.

It would be very interesting to know each member of ABBA's top 20 of their own songs.

I would have liked Angel Eyes on the set list. Strange some of the biggest hits omitted but not as puzzling as Sitting in the Palmtree making the 1977 concert set list. There were are a few which could have replaced it then..Hey Hey Helen, Dance while the music still goes on or Honey Honey.

As Joseph has already said, " Angeleyes " and " Tiger " would be worthy inclusions to the " Voyage " concert. " If It Wasn't For The Nights ", " When I Kissed The Teacher ", " As Good As New " etc all missed opportunities.

Does anyone think with future technology that the avatars could recreate these songs without the members’ contribution? I mean, if it is, the sky is the limit! Imagine a fans only night with B sides: King King Song etc! Or the 77 tour being recreated or The Girl With The Golden Hair, Bjorn did say there were ideas that the avatars will go on and on. If so this could be another huge chapter in the Abba story.

Does anyone think with future technology that the avatars could recreate these songs without the members’ contribution? I think it's possible. Something tells me that the photo that appeared inside the Voyage CD booklet was ABBA recording mouth movements for songs that weren't performed in the mo-cap suits. If the body doubles have learned how to "perform" as the various ABBAs, the lip work will probably give them scope for a much bigger setlist. Maybe it's possible that the dream sequence video currently being used for Eagle and Voulez-Vous could be repurposed for two other tracks down the line? If ABBA are willing to pop on those face cameras every so often, they could probably rack up quite an extensive set of options for future setlist adaptations.

I have seen snippets of the Voyage' Show, on YouTube, but l close it after a few seconds, because l want to experience it hopefully next year in London, but what l have seen is amazing! Abba have really created something that is a Unique experience, and the possibilities for the Avatar's is probably inconceivable, l wonder if they could replicate every song now from the input they already have from Abba, because l think all the Vocals are taken for past studio recordings?

^^That is a good review apart from still referring to the avatars as holograms. I don't know why it bothers me so much, it just does.

I posted that a few days ago. We have already discussed it!
The reviewer does say though he thinks ABBA have 20 excellent songs.

Yes, that is an absolutely ridiculous statement. They do not have a weak back catalogue. There is NO 'elephant in the room'. And then to say ABBA have 20 excellent songs?! Whoever wrote that is an idiot. Contradicting themselves. A lot of groups don't have 10 excellent songs never mind 20.

ABBA have an impressive back catalogue. The reviewer is clearly " talking out of his backside "!

I'd find it difficult to list 20 excellent songs from any of my favourite groups - ABBA, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and lots of others. And what constitutes excellence? Apart from maybe a core handful of songs, fans won't agree what other songs match up to those few that are generally accepted to be excellent I prefer to reserve the term 'excellent' for what I regard as the best of the best, and they will be fewer than 20, no matter who the group. But lots of good and very good ones. But that's just me.

You may struggle to name 20 but I wouldn't. Not with ABBA and not with Fleetwood Mac or Kate Bush or any of my other favourites. Of course it's subjective. The fact remains whoever wrote that piece contradicted themselves. And besides, that's still a deflection from the fact whoever it was said there was an elephant in the room- when there isn't! And that ABBA have a weak back catalogue. I mean, come off it.
If I could be arsed and if I thought anybody would respond I'd start a 20 excellent songs (by whoever) thread but most threads die a death here apart from the Voyage ones.
