I like the atmosphere and vibes of 'seasonal songs' - a few of which that don't even mention 'Christmas' specifically, or may not be about Christmas, but, for me, go with this time of year. A lot stems from memories, of course, or have a lovely nostalgic feel.
Here are 7 of my favourites, not in any particular order:
Driving Home For Christmas, Chris Rea Cold Cold Christmas, Dana (unjustifiably neglected, imo):
Sleigh Ride, The Ronettes It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, Johnny Mathis It's Only A Winter's Tale, David Essex Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, Brenda Lee Winter Wonderland, Ella Fitzgerald

Our wee Dana rarely gets a look in. It's not bad at all, really.
The Ronettes' Sleigh Ride is my go-to for getting in the Christmas mood. And probably because it was such a huge hit at a formative time, I love Boney M's Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord.
1. Sleigh Ride / The Ronettes 2. Last Christmas/Wham! 3. All I Want For Christmas Is You / Mariah Carey 4. Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord / Boney M 5. One More Sleep / Leona Lewis 6. Fairytale of New York / The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl 7. Santa Tell Me / Ariana Grande 8. Little Drummer Boy / Bjorn Again 9. River / Ben Platt 10. Little Things [Matt Pop remix] / ABBA
Plus... cough... uhm, this one....
The proceeds go to The Stephen Moylan Foundation, which provides support, guidance and counselling to children/young people navigating the grief of losing a parent, so I won't be too coy about posting it here.

Many may choose to forget, but it’s an ABBA related Christmas track.....

I can vouch for the brilliance of "What You Wanted (For Christmas)". I purchased it from iTunes on the day of release last week and cannot stop listening - it's that fab! More than just a festive ode, "WYW" asserts itself within the pop realm with more impact than a slap administered to Krystle by Alexis! If you enjoy a great tune fit to burst and inexplicably fidgeting for the repeat button in quick succession, this is the track for you. However, you don't have to take my word for it, just play the clip! Superb work Mr HOMETIME!!!

I'm not one for Christmas songs generally but enjoyed Hometime's song.
I couldn't do a top 5 never mind a top ten but I like Boney M's song and Last Christmas by Wham!. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than listen to the Slade song. Little Things by ABBA I find inoffensive, not sure why it gets such hate. Although it's not in my top 100 lol
Cannot abide the Mariah Carey song. Give me Brenda Lee or The Pogues any day.

I could do the obvious ones but I’ll list some slightly more obscure tracks that are on my phone.
In no particular order:
Queen - Thank God It’s Christmas Pet Shop Boys - It Doesn’t Often Snow At Christmas George Michael - December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas) Erasure - She Won’t Be Home (from Crackers International EP, 1988) Kate Bush - December Will Be Magic Again (either version) Chris De Burgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling Mike Oldfield - In Dulci Jubilo Mud - Lonely This Christmas Band Aid II - Do They Know It’s Christmas (1989)* The Carpenters - Merry Christmas Darling
*This is the 1989 Stock/Aitken/Waterman-produced version. Hated it at the time but it’s now my favourite of the four.

I'm not generally one for Christmas or festive tunes but within minutes, the following sprung to mind:
A Christmas Duel - The Hives & Cyndi Lauper Fairytale Of New York - The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl River - Heart ('The Road Home' orchestral version) NB Seemingly this Joni Mitchell composition cannot be destroyed. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Darlene Love Winter Wonderland - Eurythmics We Three Kings - Blondie December Will Be Magic Again - Kate Bush A Christmas We Deserve - ABC Sister Winter - Tracey Thorn (also love her Christmas recording, Joy, as well as her version of Joni's River) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Annie Lennox
Sneaky additions:
Joseph, Better You Than Me - The Killers featuring Neil Tennant & Elton John As Long As You Follow - Fleetwood Mac (simply because it reminds me of Christmas - Christine McVie's warm blanket of a vocal and the snow-tinged video get me every time) Put A Little Love In Your Heart - Al Green & Annie Lennox (not specifically a Christmas song but released at that time of year and it felt festive)
I also dig the aforementioned Christmas tracks:
It Doesn't Often Snow At Christmas - Pet Shop Boys December Child - George Michael Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid (I must say I prefer the 1984 original though) Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord - Boney M

Why thank you very much, evilincarnate and joseph . I heard that Sarah Brightman song for the first time last year. My friend says it was considered for one of the Mamma Mia! films? Actually, I can almost imagine a Christmas-focused movie in that franchise. Maybe set it in Kilkenny and shoehorn WYDWM into the script. Maybe it could focus on, say, Christine Baranski's or Julie Walters' characters for a change. It's conceivable that either or both could have retired to Ireland. Arrival, Happy New Year and Little Things would be enough to keep it seasonal. Maybe a sentimental The Way Old Friends Do at the end. With two more coffees in me, I might even be able to make a first stab at the script! As long as all of the lines are yelled, it should fit nicely in with the other films.

A couple of quirky Christmas songs
Christmas Wrapping - Waitresses Stop the Calvary - Jona Lewie
I am not a fan of any Band Aid song nor Boney M's Mary's Boy Child (I do like other Boney M songs though)
That Sarah Brightman version of Arrival is pretty awful. The Frida/BA Roberson one is better.
Finally, no more TOTP this Christmas this year. It has been axed. The regular show went years ago but the Christmas Special was saved - until now.

One more I forgot too…
This is the Steve Whitmire version of Kermit, which came from a Muppet compilation I bought once. I included it on a Christmas compilation I made up in my iTunes so consequently heard it every year for about the last 15.

Little Things, I take it all back. You're not the worst Christmas song ever. 😀

Finally, no more TOTP this Christmas this year. It has been axed. The regular show went years ago but the Christmas Special was saved - until now. There is a Top of the Pops special of sorts, but it’s on BBC Two on Christmas Eve at 22:40. It does have presenters but it’s not totally clear if the performances are compiled from other programmes during the year or if there are new ones specially done for this TOTP. The reasoning appears to be that TOTP is not one of BBC One’s “family” as all the other TOTP stuff (Story of, Big Hits etc) is on BBC Two. However, as the weekly programme was shunted to BBC Two before being axed completely within a year, it doesn’t bode well. From another forum: Review of the Year 2022. Clara Amfo and Jack Saunders look back over the past 12 months, presenting performances by Harry Styles, Stormzy, Sam Fender, Raye and Sam Smith and playing the Christmas number one. Also joining Clara and Jack is 2022 British breakthrough star Cat Burns, who performs her hit Go, while Sam Ryder chats about life after his hugely successful appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in May.

I have to say I'm extremely fond of "Little Things", Christmas references and all. I never had an issue with it being included on 'Voyage' and actually consider it well placed within the album. The segue of children's choir and the beginning of "Don't Shut Me Down" ( as previously mentioned by many others) is quite endearing. I always took exception to the inclusion of the children's choir on "I Have A Dream" and will never quite accept it but for some strange reason, it seems to suit "Little Things". Maybe it's age/mellowing on my part and whilst I would have definitely preferred Frida and Agnetha to close out the track, it's somewhat affecting. I consider "Little Things" to be a fine little tune with such a delightfully light touch, both in terms of arrangement and the precision vocals. that it's difficult not to be moved. I realise I'm definitely in the minority here so perhaps I'm just made of marshmallow.

Re-posting lamont’s video for Little Things as it’s been buried in the Voyage thread. The puppets were created for a Eurovision anniversary tribute in 2004 which they called “Our Last Video”. Thankfully that turned out not to be the case, but it’s easy to forget the puppets. They “performed” existing ABBA songs so there’s never really a reason to watch it. Putting Little Things to it gives it a whole new purpose, plus I like the “choir” at the end. The real ABBA’s appearances in it were not filmed at the same time. Agnetha and Frida were digitally put together. How times have changed! I did this for Christmas, hope you guys get to see it and it doesn’t get taken down. Best wishes

You're not alone in appreciating Little Things, evilincarnate. I never thought I'd defend a Christmas song but its light, whimsical touch is lovely. I think criticism of the song is mostly unwarranted. I'm pretty cynical at the best of times and even I find it inoffensive. The children's choir works here whereas I admit I was rather allergic to the one in I Have A Dream. I like the boppy Matt Pop version enough but I don't see why every Christmas song has to be dancey and uptempo. It's slow pace is quite refreshing.
Hark at me! I don't even like Christmas or Christmas songs! I will almost always press skip when one comes on but not Little Things. Omg I must be mellowing.

Shameless ( gross, some might say) self promotion here. It's for a charitable cause, so my ability to blush has been switched off. It's a video mash-up: the track is me, the gorgeous visuals are an ad created by the Norwegian Post Office. I flatter myself that the two meld nicely. The track raises funds for The Stephen Moylan Foundation, which provides counselling and support to children navigating the grief of losing a parent. Download here, if you fancy it. Happy Christmas!
