Have you noticed the papers, press, social media wrongly refer to ABBA as a single entity. For example going back to last year, ABBA is back in the recording studio with a new album and concert. ABBA consist of four musicians ( very talented I know ) so that is grammatically incorrect. It should have read as ABBA are back in the recording studio. I find this really annoying. One of my pet hates.

I disagree. It is correct to describe ABBA (and any collective) that way. It therefore should be “ABBA is” not “ABBA are”. You could say “the four members of ABBA are…” as it would then be plural, but “ABBA” is not a plural.
It gets a bit muddied these days though, so either way would suffice.

Alan, is right. It is a collective pronoun (a single entity that may include several people/components) so should be singular/third person (it). You are right too in that it doesn't sound right. In everyday speech people are ungrammatical
eg The Government are introducing new legislation... it should be is
The England Team have arrived back home ...it should be has
Eddie??

I see your point, Johnny. You may vaguely remember me as Eddie. You were very helpful with advice re The Voyage Concert and tips on buying tickets. I am determined to see the show. I appreciate your help, Johnny.
