I have learned mentally switch off from the worthless posts of anyone who makes it obvious, with more or less subtlety, that they would have preferred that Frida had been kept in the background and that the only singer worth listening to in ABBA is Agnetha. There was someone on the old forum whose username was that of a bitter-tasting fruit who taught me how to ignore such posts.(Of course, my argument applies equally if I felt Agnetha was being sidelined.)

Richard - 100% agree. It seems though Agnetha has more of these "sweaty, obsessive fans" as she memorably said in The Movie than Ftida.
For the record, my favourite ABBA song is SOS. My favourite Voyage track, Don't Shut Me Down. But generally on leads, I prefer Frida. I'm screwed!

It seems though Agnetha has more of these "sweaty, obsessive fans" as she memorably said in The Movie than Ftida. She didn’t say it in The Movie. The quote comes from her late 1990s book, As I Am. This was a direct translation of a Swedish publication. It’s possible it got a bit lost in translation and she didn’t necessarily mean it to sound like it did. Plus she seemingly wasn’t in a great place at that point. She read parts of the book, including that quote, in a 1999 documentary as she didn’t want to be interviewed, hence why everyone remembers it. I’m intrigued what the bitter-tasting fruit was, richard? Grapefruit? I don’t remember them.

Ok. Clearly wrongly remembered. Probably because Agnetha was talking about Australia I got it mixed up.

Alan, the bitter-tasting fruit is yellow and smaller than a grapefruit. Maybe one or two others here who were also on the old abba4ever forum will remember the anti-Frida bias that frequently seemed to be lurking somewhere in a certain lemmon's posts. But unfortunately he hasn't been the only one over the years.

Gawd, yes, I remember that! If I remember rightly, I think somebody called his behaviour out. He reacted so badly, you'd swear they'd murdered his puppy or something.

Glad you also remember, Tony.
I'll just say this about the Agnetha vs Frida nonsense - which after all these years still occasionally surfaces - and then keep quiet. It's the pathetic needfulness involved: the 'rival' must be belittled in order to better bolster their favourite. And this involving the two singers belonging to the group they profess to love! It mystifies me.

I don’t think they mean on here. I wouldn’t allow it anyway.
However, on the A4E forum the site admin was an Agnetha fan and made it quite clear, so it could be argued that it was encouraged. He fancied her I think.
One thing I will say is that for me, Agnetha stands out more. Particularly “That Hair”. Out of a bottle of course, but as with Debbie Harry, there’s no doubt that it attracts a lot of attention. And just maybe because she was (is) slightly younger than the others. Once Agnetha had the chop in 1979 and then started doing unspeakable things with her hair, ABBA’s image as a whole started to suffer.

I'm glad it doesn't happen on this forum, while people kept putting one against the other both Agnetha and Frida always compliment each other when they give interviews.
