I've just seen mention of a new recording of Summer Night City from Claire Richards (Steps) new solo album. It's a duet with Erasure's Andy Bell. Curious about how this might sound. Have any Steps/Erasure fans heard snippets yet? I think the album comes out in August.

I like both artists...but....
The Lyric Video Is on You Tube and it's such a poor cover I won't post it on here....

Erasure did some tremendous albums in the 80s; Circus, Innocents, Wild
…but their butchering of those ABBA songs in’92 was a load of old bollocks.

I just had a listen and it's certainly not as bad as I had anticipated. One step away from karaoke, but not completely atrocious.
Andy Bell definitely fares better than Claire Richards. It would be difficult to completely ruin such a fantastic song.

I love Summer Night City, I still find it exciting and exhilarating to listen to but this version just doesn't give me that feeling in my stomach. I appreciate that Claire has a belter of a voice but Steps have never really done it for me. Love Andy Bell and Erasure though! A little sad to see uploads of him performing at Rewind recently though. His voice was all over the place. Dunno what's going on with him. I hope he's OK.

Claire has released a solo version of SNC on "Euphoria (You & I Edition) Deluxe Digital" that is so much better than the duet with Andy in my opinion  |

Claire's album has plummeted from #2 to #102 in a week. This kind of massive drop is actually very common
