Kirsty MacColl's demo of "One Little Lie" is now available for streaming on most platforms. It actually sounds more complete than I anticipated and is rather good. Great artist and person. Those damn Estefans have a lot to answer for!

Estefans? As in Gloria? Sorry, I don’t follow! What’s the connection, evilincarnate?

I may have to revise my comment because whilst a member of the Estefan family was originally reported to have been involved in the speedboat accident that killed Kirsty in late 2000 (accompanied by an immediate cover-up), a quick Google search just now reveals absolutely no connection to the original stories alleging the involvement to which I alluded.

Thanks for the clarification, evilincarnate. One thing I didn’t know about Kirsty MacColl until more recent years is that the “Baby” in Tracey Ullman’s cover version of Kirsty’s They Don’t Know is actually Kirsty herself, as Tracey couldn’t reach the note. It’s hard not to feel a bit robbed when talented people are taken from us in accidents/murders. Kirsty MacColl could have done a lot in the last 23 years. We may find fault with some of Voyage and we might not be over-excited by Agnetha’s new song but it’s still something to be thankful for that all four of ABBA are still with us and have made it to their 70s. Compare that to, say, half of The Beatles that were either murdered at 40 or succumbed to a terminal illness in their late 50s.

Oh I didn't know that Kirsty sang the 'baby' vocal - I knew she provided back-up vocals but that makes sense as she was a supreme vocalist. I love Tracey Ullman and her singles were fantastic but Kirsty's original version of "They Don't Know" is my favourite. It's such a brilliantly written pop song that it would be virtually impossible to ruin.
As a long-term Kirsty MacColl fan, I was devastated by her untimely demise - such a shame and so needless. Whilst her last album, Tropical Brainstorm, was far from her best (in my opinion), she had just reignited her creative muse after some years between albums so I definitely feel robbed in terms of what she could have contributed thereafter. Obviously, her young children (at the time) were also robbed of their mother. A terrible loss indeed.
I absolutely feel a sense of gratitude that we still have the four members of ABBA with us - and that they actually created such a wonderful piece of work at their respective ages. I'm also appreciative that Agnetha has recorded again and despite my reservations regarding the latest single, I'm pleased for her and us at the same time.
If we are fortunate enough to receive more ABBA releases in the future - whether they be one-off singles or more - I will be especially grateful. It's more than any of us could have ever hoped for and to have the quality control still firmly in place makes it all the more pleasurable. That aside, I wish for all four members to continue to lead happy and healthy lives. It's kind of insane that they are still with us after all these years, which is reassuring and thrilling at the same time.
