Imagine we're all record company execs charged with squeezing the last drop of profit from the ABBA catalogue. One strategy is to milk the market with a few pointless compilations, sheltering beneath flimsy thematic umbrellas. For example, 'ABBA - The Name of the Game' might corral all the songs which have personal or place names in the title. Potential track list: The Name of the Game (just to bind it all together and boost the overall quality) Cassandra Happy Hawaii Fernando What About Livingstone Nina, Pretty Ballerina Santa Rosa Hey, Hey Helen Elaine Keep an Eye on Dan Suzy-Hang-Around Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother King Kong Song Waterloo The Deluxe Edition would simply remove King Kong Song. Worth paying a little extra to avoid having to listen to that one, I'd have thought. Technically, you could even include the Medley, due to the inclusion of 'Old Smokey'. But you've got to draw the line somewhere. Not sure I'd want to buy it. But someone would. Which would be the whole point of the exercise, of course. Why not give it a go?! The more tenuous the better!

OK, as it's an endangered species.

I think there’s already been a compilation called “The Name of the Game” - one of those (many) cheapo ones that has a few hits on to help it sell, then padded out with obscure album tracks.* I’m actually quite thankful that I first heard the vast majority of ABBA’s output between early 1977 and late 1982 (so ages 5 to 11). It’s made it difficult to dislike most of it. At those ages I was happy with most of what I heard. I’m not sure I’d include Two For The Price of One or I Saw It In The Mirror in that though - I’ve since found sufficient reasons to like those that I don’t think I’d have appreciated at the time. And Super Trouper (song) and You Owe Me One don’t fit into that either. I liked them at the time but not now. But yes, I’d take King Kong Song. It’s fun. Great vocals and early enough for them to be completely forgiven. Edit: * Oh yes, here we go. This one:

Wow - that must be from the 'Now That's What I Call Random Track Selection' series! At least 'my' version goes through the motions of pretending to have a modicum of thought behind it.

Another strategy for these desperate execs might be an album entitled "ABBA WOOD' (which was, I think, a thread on the old forum) or "The ABBA You Don't Want To Hear", in the hope that reverse psychology would come into play.

How about...'ABBA: A Celebration of Punctuation'. Spoilt for choice here, so I've kept it down to fourteen and mere apostrophes certainly aren't enough to warrant inclusion.
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do Andante, Andante Money, Money, Money Dance (While the Music Still Goes On) Voulez-Vous I Wonder (Departure) Hey, Hey Helen Suzy-Hang-Around Honey, Honey Lovers (Live a Little Longer) My Love, My Life Bang-A-Boomerang Knowing Me, Knowing You
Deluxe edition features bonus tracks whose titles should have had some punctuation but didn't. (Please do correct me if I'm wrong here...)
Does Your Mother Know SOS Why Did It Have to Be Me What About Livingstone
You'll also note that my ideas are essentially just ruses to give HHH a bit more exposure.

The compilation 'The Name Of The Game' offered a chance for casual ABBA fans, or those who were curious to explore the group a bit further, to hear selected tracks across the range of ABBA's then 8 studio albums. In that sense, it has "a modicum of thought behind it."

LIE(BISIHE) is a particularly odd call, though - definitely several better possibilities available from the RR album that don't make ABBA look so bubblegum and are more representative of their overall 'journey'. To my mind, anyway.

How about 'ABBA - Double/Triple Trouble', featuring tracks with repeated words in the title:
Money, Money, Money Andante, Andante Hey, Hey Helen (yep - I got it in again!!!) Another Town, Another Train Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) Knowing Me, Knowing You As Good as New (even conjunctions count!) The Name of the Game (ditto the definite article) Honey, Honey One Man, One Woman Dum Dum Diddle On and On and On (a triple AND a double!) My Love, My Life Ring Ring
Comes with 'Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother' hidden as a secret track. Very well hidden, hopefully. But it does offer a double double, so hard to leave it off completely.
Quite a listenable selection, actually. I've omitted 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do' because that might be overegging it a bit and I'm not sure 'ABBA - Double/Triple/Quintuple Trouble' really works as a title...

Let's go for 'ABBA - Obliteration by Alliteration'... Plenty to select from, but I'll go with: Mamma Mia Don't Shut Me Down Bang-A-Boomerang Hey, Hey Helen (naturally!) Lay All Your Love on Me Head Over Heels My Mama Said The King Has Lost His Crown Man in the Middle Lovers (Live a Little Longer) Voulez-Vous Dum Dum Diddle My Love, My Life Happy Hawaii Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) Bonus tracks - just to mix it up a bit, a selection of songs with internally rhyming titles: Super Trouper Nina, Pretty Ballerina Hole in Your Soul King Kong Song
