Hi everyone. I'm not very good at self-promotion so please bear with me.
I've started an ABBA song-by-song podcast called LIKE A MAGIC SPELL, after the Under Attack lyric, and I'd be really grateful if you would download it and listen.
I had the idea for the podcast around the time of the new Voyage releases and it's taken some time to make it a reality - and finally I have!
I've chosen the song-by-song format as I've heard it work for other fan podcasts. I'm starting with the SUPER TROUPER album, so the first full episode looks at SUPER TROUPER and THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL. I thought about starting at the very beginning and going through chronologically, but the early songs aren't my favourite ABBA songs (just a personal choice!) so I thought I'd start with an album that shows them in their prime. It's also a more accessible 'way in' if you're not a super fan.
The podcast is not supposed to be a serious in-depth look at the songs (and I know a lot of you are bigger experts than me) but I'm trying to have a series of fun conversations about the songs and whatever topics they lead to. One interesting thing for me that has emerged from recording the first five episodes is that everyone has a different story about how ABBA came into their lives.
The guests are mainly people I know, and they include the host of the official Eurovision Song Podcast Steve Holden, but if you would like to be a guest on the next season, please drop me. line. I think I'm going to be doing ABBA: THE ALBUM next so if you have any strong feelings about those songs, do let me know. I'm London-based but can record over Zoom.
