What are people's thoughts on the song Funky Feet? We don't have the ABBA version to listen to, unfortunately, but most of us who have heard versions by Svenne & Lotte, Alcazar etc. can probably imagine how the ABBA version would have sounded. I'm not sure how far into the recording process the ABBA version was shelved, apparently due to being too similar to Dancing Queen in style, but it's catchy as anything, so I can only hope that vocals were laid down and one day we get a chance to hear this Arrival outtake fully completed.

Apparently “A section from the beginning of the song was later re-used for the 1982 track "I Am the City". Do we know which bit of I Am The City it is? I’ve never heard Funky Feet.

That's actually better than I remember. Super clunky lyrics, but catchy. Sounds like the kind of thing that would have been delivered by a one-hit-wonder in the mid-70s. Probably should have been used in an ad for Odor Eaters.
If my memory of the CMP books is in any way reliable, I think that ABBA might have abandoned the track before recording (final?) vocals? But if an ABBA version exists, we need to have it. Hashtag Anthology, innit.

I must admit I have never heard "Funky Feet" although I am aware the song was previously mentioned in one of Carl Magnus Palm's ABBA anthologies.

Hashtag Anthology, innit. Wikipedia mentions “"Funky Feet" is a song recorded during the Arrival sessions that was ultimately dropped due to its similarity to "Dancing Queen".” Whether that’s accurate is, of course, another matter. And as you say, it could have been partially recorded but abandoned before final (or even any) vocals added.

Just my opinion, but I think it’s more likely it was dropped because it’s inferior to any song on Arrival. That said, it’s not bad. They were at their peak around this time.

I haven't heard Svenne and Lotta's version before. It's much better than Alcazar's. However, if my memory doesn't fail me, there were no vocals recorded by ABBA. They gave the song to Svenne and Lotta quite early because they already had Dancing Queen and this one was too similar in style.

This version released in 1977 by Australian band Silver Studs was actually a Top 20 chart hit:

Putting into perspective and nearly being 50 years old.... It's really not a bad version above...
I think we can get a flavour of what might have been if done by ABBA, with the girls on lead vocals... another of those.. if only......

Obviously the title is a hyper-naff no-no unworthy of ABBA but musically it's really pretty decent and I bet ABBA would have done a magnificent version that I'd readily trade for the perennially underwhelming 'That's Me'. Shove it on Side 2 well away from DQ and I don't see the problem. In fact, it might help to balance out the Arrival album a bit, as DQ sounds like a bit of an outlier as it stands. But it needs a massive lyrical makeover.
