In another thread I made mention of the ABBA songs I hear most commonly on the radio in Australia these days. I got curious to see if my impressions were correct so sought out some playlists.
For one AM radio station that plays mainly 60s to early 80s hits I obtained the following results:
1. The number of ABBA tracks ranged from 1 to 5 per day;
2. This was the number of plays for each song over 7 days:
Dancing Queen = 1 Thankyou for the Music = 2 Knowing Me Knowing You = 2 Take a Chance = 3 Mamma Mia = 1 Fernando = 2 SOS = 2 The Winner Takes It All = 2 I Do I Do = 2 Ring Ring = 1 Ciquitita = 1 Does Your Mother Know = 1
I will provide a full update on this list covering a month.
On another radio station that plays 70s to 90s there most recent Top 500 of All Time list had the following tracks:
28 Dancing Queen 77 Mamma Mia 102 SOS 118 Knowing Me 370 Waterloo 420 Gimme Gimme 460 Take A Chance
I'm interested to hear what gets played most in other parts of the world.

I'm only going by what I hear , others may enlighten...
Of the main UK stations, Radio 2 is the biggest player, especially when Ken Bruce was the main DJ, a huge fan, he's now moved to a Commercial station Greatest Hits Radio where he does continue to play ABBA tracks
To be honest from all I hear, no station tends to Play much out side of the Gold tracks.....in fact can't remember the last time I actually heard anything from outside of Gold.
As for frequency, I really don't know, but guess on those two station, twice a day at most ? Other specialist stations may play more...

I've just looked at the 'recently played' for the last 24 hours on Greatest Hits Radio in the UK (they also have 70's only and 80's only spin-off stations but for this I'm only looking at their general station playlist, which is 70's, 80's and 90's) and they played, in the last 24 hours, MMM at 12.44, SOS at 08.03, VV at 04.46 and DQ at 15.01 yesterday, so a good rotation but predictably all the Gold tracks. Since 7am this morning on their 70's-only station, they've played 4 (different) tracks, MM, TNOTG, KMKY & Chiquitita.

For what it's worth, we have a dedicated oldies station here in Ireland called RTÉ Gold. Tracks I've heard recently include Eagle, So Long, Money Money Money, Angeleyes, Knowing Me Knowing You, Dancing Queen, Does Your Mother Know, and The Winner Takes It All. An expected selection from Gold, but So Long took me by surprise. I don't keep tabs on their playlist (I don't know if it's even published - other Irish fans might know?), I just tune in when I'm prepping dinner etc.

Curtin FM in Perth, Australia, is a popular radio station with a Golden Oldies format. A few days ago they played "Bang-A-Boomerang".
Now check out their playlist for this morning:

jj, pretty surprised by those two tracks, I can't recall them ever being played on the radio here in oz or if so a long time ago. The most unusual to hear played in this country would be Honey Honey or perhaps slipping through my fingers.
