Yeah, I know they only did a few more ABBAtar songs....
Take a Chance On Me Money Money Money Super Trouper
The audience reactions dips a bit during the cartoons, WAISAD and 2 Voyage songs. It needs well known songs in the mix with these.

I’m heavily biased towards none-Gold tracks or even non-singles, but I’ve allowed Take A Chance on Me. Super Trouper is a definite no-no as I still don’t really like the song. To date it remains the only ABBA song (other than Little Things) that I’ve ever “skipped” when listening to an album.
Angeleyes (it’s one word, not two, in the ABBA universe) is a desirable one for me as I can’t stand the fact that it’s the only track from Voulez-Vous that’s never had any kind of visual performance. The completist in me wants to see that rectified!
I would have gone for The Name of the Game but I know it’s not popular enough with the masses, so I opted for When I Kissed The Teacher as the third.

If they did the motion-capture to any non-single tracks, I think IIWFTN is the most likely to have been done, especially as the ABBA Voyage liveband are itching to do it - unless they were all massive fans, how would they have known that track unless it's been trialled for possible future inclusion?

I went for the three we understand to have been mo-capped. They're iconic hits, so would definitely elevate the set. I think that The Name Of The Game could replace something of a similar tempo in the set: Eagle would be my preference. I share Alan's motivation for Angeleyes - and it's a song that was pushed back to the surface by the Mamma Mia! movie. I think bjorenny might be right about IIWFTN. I must say that logic hadn't occurred to me at all, but now it's blindingly obvious. My own dream setlist would include many a deeper dive not listed here. I'm sure we'd all create wildly diverse setlists for our own pleasure. Some bands choose to perform full albums, and/or do rarity concerts. My husband says Kylie did one that featured B-sides and off-cuts and album tracks - the fans adored it. Can you imagine if it was viable to create alternative or parallel Voyage concerts in that kind of way?

The Name of the Game is one of my favourite ABBA songs - and favourite from this list. I didn't chose it. As Alan said it's not popular and I feel wouldn't fit in. The Day Before You Came certainly would not be a good choice for similar reasons
Hometime makes a good point about replacing Eagle with The Name of the Game.
The concert does sag a bit in for some of the lesser known songs. The answer I think is to introduce well known uptempo songs rather than replacing the deep cuts. An extra 12 minutes or so wouldn't make the show overly long.

As much as we would like to see more songs added to " The Voyage Concert " I don't think any additions will be made. I don't see it happening. And yes I am the same person posting. " Eddie " or " Ed ". As regards to my post above I would like to clarify I don't own a mobile ( I am very adverse to mobiles etc ) so I wouldn't even have a clue how to vote for the extra songs. Even so please allow me to feel welcome to join in.

As regards to my post above I would like to clarify I don't own a mobile ( I am very adverse to mobiles etc ) so I wouldn't even have a clue how to vote for the extra songs. Even so please allow me to feel welcome to join in. It’s so long since I’ve accessed the forum on a PC or laptop, but the “desktop” view on my phone appears to show boxes to the left of each track at the top of this topic. I would have thought it’s just a case of “ticking” or “checking” the box next to the track you want to select? Not sure if, once you have done the three votes, you have to “update” or “submit” or something? I don’t think Johnny meant any harm with his post, he was merely observing that you hadn’t voted, that was all.

As much as we would like to see more songs added to " The Voyage Concert " I don't think any additions will be made. I don't see it happening. I’m starting to think along those lines. Everyone talks about setlist changes as though it’s easy, like a “normal” live band just swapping one song for another. We don’t have the figures for how much just one ABBATar performance costs, do we? How much time and resources went into it, let alone the financial side. Yes, so ABBA did perform more songs in those motion-capture outfits, but I would suspect that, once the songs were chosen, no further work was done on the others. And you do have to wonder if it was more ambitious than their thought at the start. If the cartoon sequences aren’t there to allow the generators to cool, then could it be to pad it out? That the cost of creating more sequences with the ‘Tars was just too great? And if they aren’t even near breaking even, why would they even think of spending more money? If they seriously start to struggle to sell tickets then it’s an option, but I doubt it’s under consideration. And even a second venue - the costs of that alone would be huge, so again, why waste more creating sequences for other songs? And why haven’t we seen other acts do this? I know some have talked about it but two years on it still hasn’t happened. ABBA have the mass appeal which other acts don’t, but that alone can’t be the reason. Could it be that the Voyage project was one massive gamble that’s still a long way from being paid off? Of course, I’ll be eating my words/hat if it comes to fruition. And it’s fun to speculate/have wishlists. However, Voyage is not a normal live concert. Changing it is surely not as easy as many seem to think.

Thank you Alan, I'll bear that in mind. Honestly, I don't think there will be any " Voyage " concert set list changes. It is a mighty fine set list just as it is.

This is their top10 in the UK. They left out their two biggest hits! Crazy.

…as is Knowing Me, Knowing You. Is this top 10 based on 1970s/80s sales alone or that combined with downloads/streaming? I would suspect the former as I’m not sure The Name of the Game would be so high.
I know there’s a thread about Super Trouper going on which I’ve avoided posting in, but personally I could well do without that in the show. Take A Chance on Me is a very different story though, I’d more than welcome that.

That list is Combined - original.sales plus downloads and streams www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/abbas-official-top-20-biggest-songs__26113/The top 5 are also top 5 Physical sales. The remainder of a Top 10 Original Sales list would have The Name of the Gane, Chiquitita, I Have a Dream and 2 from One of Us, Money Money Money and The Winner Takes it All. All certified gold for 500k sales - except TWTIA, which should have been certified. For Streams/Downloads you'd have LAYLOM, DYMK SOS and VV in top 10 but not TNOTG, IHAD, One of Us, and probably KMKY or Fernando. The top 10 sales from the UK in 70s/80s were from their heyday 1976.80 and included ballads and uptempo. Now the most popular songs, with the exception of The Winner Takes it All are all uptempo - a clear Mamma Mia! movie effect, I feel. And perhaps with Streaming you put uptempo songs more on repeat than slow songs.

It would be nice if Official Charts could get the positions 5 and 6 correct. The text and the table contradict each other. But they actually state that Fernando’s sales are higher than TWTIA’s. Also, I doubt KMKY has 28 streams!

Thanks for the clarification, johnny. By the way - what happened to your national anthems thread? I was just about to comment. I’d say possibly not many people know enough of them to rank them. I know the UK one (though wish I didn’t - never mind the Queen/King, what about the other 67 million of us?) but apart from the US one, I’d struggle to recall any others.

For me the three additions that would benefit Voyage the most are:
Take A Chance On Me - By far the most surprising omission IMO, this uptempo track would sit PERFECTLY within the set list
Super Trouper - fits well with the concert theme and a great song besides
Angeleyes - UK bias showing here, but a fantastic song that could work nicely as a slower track.

Yes, AE, ST and TACOM are in their top10 Spotify streaming chart. If they want the show to go on and on and on, you would think at least one of their most popular songs (TACOM) would be in the show.

^ Good choices
TACOM for sure. I also opted for ST - not because I am a fan but because it kinda fits in with the show
Better to add than replace songs imo.
I can't see why new songs can't be added. Would that be technically difficult or financially expensive?
I see nobody is using the sequencing argument in relation to costumes- that was always a weak point.

Just out of interest, if there was a parallel universe where the Voyage show had a part 2, with 20 different songs to the ones already in the show, and it followed a similar format with album tracks as well as hits, which 20 songs, along with the obvious 3 or 4 we all want included anyway such as TACOM, would you include? In no particular order:
1. TACOM 2. MMM 3. NOTG 4. ST 5. Angeleyes 6. Hit By A Train 7. So Long 8. IIWFTN 9. STMF 10.AGAN 11.ON and On and On 12.Ring Ring 13.One of Us 14.Just Like That 15.Tiger 16.Honey Honey 17.I Do x5 18.Kisses of Fire 19.TDBYC 20.WIKTT (21. Finish with TWOFD or HNY depending on time of year)
The list above is deep-cut heavy, but does that really matter in the days of streaming due to the fact that the Mamma Mia movies made some songs popular that weren't necessarily known by the general public in the original 1972-1982 run?

I've gone for 2/3 favourites .. TACOM and ST, as both belters and great singalongs in different ways... I've also gone for Ring Ring, again for the above reasons, it's older so shows the development of the music, and would fit nicely , you can just see everyone doing the telephone dial movement,( well I can..lol but I've a good imagination).
Of course we would love to see many more, I can't argue against MMM for instance, I wouldn't be disappointed. However reality seems to be a different thing, and as yet no set change ..why... I don't really get the cooling down bit, is that actually true ? The costume bit must already be factored in, as why do more tracks than needed... there must come a point when something will happen...
For me, if no immediate set change, then what I mooted about a year ago, let the live band have their say in doing another number or two, IIWFTN for instance, but that would be an add on, as otherwise how would Bjorns Abbatar introduce DYMK... So again this would lengthen the show, which majority of the audience would love and perhaps help feel getting more for their money, all I can think of otherwise that there must be plans to change/ add, when that will be, is anyone's guess, you would've thought an " anniversary " would've been perfect... but hey....

I love bjorenny's post - maybe it deserves its own thread? A separate, all-new setlist would rely heavily on the recognition factor for songs from the Mamma Mia franchise. It's not as hit-heavy as the current setlist, but I think it could be viable. It's actually kind of a challenge to round up the more familiar songs and then structure a running order around them. This is my attempt. Tiger I do, I do, I do, I do, I do Ring, ring Money, money, money Angeleyes When I kissed the teacher Our last summer The day before you came If it wasn’t for the nights Why did it have to be me? Slipping through my fingers The name of the game Honey, honey Just a notion Hit by a train On and on and on Take a chance on me So long (repeat the Glenn Miller moment from The Movie) Super trouper I have a dream (like TWTIA in the current set, use the choir and get crowd singalong to wrap things up)

I chose TACOM, ST and AE as songs to be added to voyage concert, the first 2 are big/well known hits and should be there really, Angeleyes is a track i've always liked and would fit in to the show well.
