There's a story that says it was because of the fact that Agneta joined a dance orchestra and apparently the publicity posters were already printed with the name Agnetha, so Agnetha added the "h" to her name. Seems to be a false story, though ! We should definitely ask Agnetha ;-) It's something along those lines; I think I remember a quote from one of the band members saying that the name similarity was a bonus when they recruited our Agnet(h)a, because her predecessor had the same/similar name, thus saving money on reprinting posters. I'll try to dig the story out. Edit: Here's the link to the Bernt Enghardt interview. He says Little Gerhard liked the band but not Agnetha! So nothing to do with the Band or its poster, it seems. My current guess is that she didn't want to be confused with another Agneta (Agneta Baumann maybe, or wasn't she popular enough at the time to be a consideration?). I played around with this picture, and noticed that if you reduce the shadows, you get a nicely detailed view of her face  And the picture before -  And I think it also looks nice in B&W  |
