This was inspired by a quote from Chiquitita on another thread.
What was your favorite time of Abba? What I mean is, what time period within the group's existence do you look at with the most fondness? Was it the early, post flower-power embryonic time of their very beginning? Was it their glam and crazy costume era? Was it touring Australia at the height of their popularity around the time of Arrival and The Album? Was it the mature disco phase of Voulez Vouz or the even more mature dresses and ties Super Trouper phase? Or maybe the introspective and experimental end of the group's time together. Or maybe something else you can think of within all this.
The difference between this and, say, a favorite album thread is that this encompasses live performances (either on TV, youtube, or those of you fortunate enough to have seen them live) appearance and even the status within the group (maybe you like them less when the couples started breaking up?) as well as the music.
Personally, I like them best around Voulez Vouz time, say '79. It was a nice mix of the early energy with a new maturity. Their sound is the way that I like it the most, lush and vibrant. And the performances I see from this time seem well coordinated, as the ladies seem to have found a great sync with each other. This was a toss-up between this and around '75, because I love the youth, catsuits and general fun of that time period too. But I like the disco era better.
Hope this gets us talking a bit...
