Well, it's over now - and I have to say I really enjoyed the show. I thought Guy Sebastian did a fabulous job - and I felt so proud It was quite an emotional experience having Australia be a part of Eurovision. My favourite 2 were Armenia and Belgium - what were yours ? Do you agree that Sweden had the best song ? And what's all the talk about it being a plagiarism of David Guetta's song 'Lovers Of The Sun' ? What do others think ?

The strongest Eurovision for many years, in terms of song quality from a variety of genres. My own favourite was Belgium and I'm pleasantly surprised by how many people thought the same. I didn't rate Italy or Russia and was glad that the latter faded towards the end of voting. Australia was very strong and could easily have won in other less competitive years. The UK's entry seemed designed not to win, but rather to avoid finishing last. I thought it merited a slightly better placing but it was never going to get into the top half. Overall Sweden deserved its victory imho.
So will Australia become a permanent fixture? I'm betting it will.

Not as strong as 2014 but still one of the best contests of all time. Worthy winner and stacks of other great songs and performances. There were only two songs I didn't like at all - France and Greece. Spain and Germany deserved better. Delighted for Belgium, Latvia and Estonia - great songs and staging. Israel's performance was truly brilliant - to think it came from a 16-year-old 'kid' is astonishing. Couldn't help liking Italy and Russia, even though I know I shouldn't. Enjoyed Conchita showcasing her new stuff - right up my street. Plus le Nozze di Figaro to kick everything off. What an evening!
And, of course, Australia can now legitimately boast that they're better than us (the UK) even at Eurovision, as well as cricket etc etc etc! Fair play!

It was a really great show I think - lots of wonderful songs and performances. It has been a while since I've watched a full program - too many cringe worthy moments in the past. I enjoyed this year thoroughly Australia assumes they are better than everyone else at everything anyway - we are only surprised if we find we are not the best

Not sure about Australia being included again Martin - it would be wonderful - but not terribly legitimate I don't think. Will have to wait and see Belgium was great - such a quirky song - and the choreography was just as quirky - loved it !

I'd be more than happy to see Oz in the contest every year. Great people, great country - and as well as contributing an excellent entry, their participation definitely gave the 'building bridges' theme another dimension. Would Australia have to become an associate member of the EBU (by some strange mechanism)? At the very least, a financial contribution would definitely be needed, or smaller EBU members in particular would no doubt get the hump. And what would the EBU do if other countries came a-calling and actually asked to take part? Tricky one. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out. Maybe the contest could include a different 'guest country' every year - with Australia fulfilling that role on a pretty regular basis, of course!
Any thoughts?
