Who is the groom? and tell me where and when? A Swedish surgeon named Tomas Sonnenfeld, her husband from 1990 to 1993. This would be their wedding day, 15 December 1990 but I don't know where it took place. I have never seen any other photos of them together; maybe Fafner has? Here's a pretty recent video of Tomas. He is contestant 230, partnering another blonde

To introduce new members to this thread and solicit contributions, the idea outlined in the opening post was: ABBA newbies often get confused about which of the girls is which, and the same with the boys. Here's a thread for images that wouldn't really help new fans to get things straight...Cropping and freeze frames allowed, but no manipulation. And we don't just want the wrong two standing or sitting together; that was sadly commonplace once Agnetha and Björn's relationship deteriorated. There has to be sufficient apparent affection or intimacy to confuse those who are already struggling with their Annas and Annis

When I first got into ABBA it was never really confusing to me as I knew it was blonde girl + guy without beard and red head + guy with beard. Then I saw the One of Us video and wondered why there were only three members in the video.
These pictures are reminding me how attractive Benny was in the 1970s.

I always thought Agnetha and Björn handled their separation very well in front of the cameras. This Japanese interview is one of the few exceptions but in all of 1979, they acted like a happy couple, they even did the ice skating together in early 1979 in Switzerland. And they usually kept the usual couple-posing. However, when Benny and Frida separated, you could sense that the mood between them was more than icy at least for a certain time. But we all know the two couples separated for completely different reasons, maybe that's why. EDIT_ sometimes I think that Benny and Agnetha and Frida and Björn had gotten along better as a couple. Which is of course stupid to say as we don't know any of them well enough to say that. But still …

^^ I've wondered that too. Benny and Agnetha always seemed to get on well. They were both musicians. Frida wasn't and I'm not sure Björn truly was (that might be being a bit unfair of me though).
I love the story of when "A" was released, and Agnetha went round to see Benny and played it to him. She implied, I think, that she was a bit nervous of his reaction, as though she was in awe of him. And he's perhaps a bit disappointed with her that she didn't write more for it.
It's also possible that they all became closer to each other's former spouses once the marriages had ended. If things aren't great with your ex, and you're stuck with them and two other people unconnected with the split, you make the best of it and maybe make more of an effort with the two than perhaps you might have done before.

Not a photograph, but another video, I still think the manner in which Frida and Björn acted out Why Did It Have To Be Me in Australia '77 must have confused those who didn't know how the true couples were matched.

In almost every picture from the group's first professional photo shoot, which furnished the cover to PNL, the couples are the 'wrong way round'. Maybe this sowed the seeds of confusion regarding the relationships.

I'd like to combine a disorienting photo with a friday quiz: can you make an educated guess as to what this guitar, custom-built for Björn, is nicknamed?
