Flushed by the relative success of the disorienting photos thread, and inspired by a recent Fafner image post, I'm creating a thread for photos to which the first reaction might be 'I thought those guys had split up by then?'. So the idea is to find photos in which Frida and Benny or Agnetha and Björn somehow appear to be as content in each others company as they were when they were an item. Agnetha and Björn skating at Leysin springs to mind, but I'm going to start with Fafner's photo because there's apparently genuine eye contact and maybe even affection. How?  |

Another one from Leysin That must have been taken from a different angle just a fraction of a second earlier; they seem to have exactly the same expressions but in the second one he is only just starting the downstroke on his guitar. |

The Dick Cavett meets ABBA show weeks after they announced their separation. During the mini concert performance it was noticeable the tension at times and non interaction between the girls and B & B. Agnetha and Frida stay close together barely looking at the guys. But after Agnetha starts singing 'Thank You For The Music' the camera pans back and Frida is standing very close to Benny. They even exchange a brief smile at 1 minute into the video here. (Sorry, can't screen shot). She then changes position very slightly resting her hand on the piano.

(Sorry, can't screen shot) Well spotted, that's quite touching. ABBA songs mean a lot to fans, but they also seem to affect the performers. This exchange reminds me of TWOFD at Wembley, when Agnetha and Björn look awkward next to each other at the start but by the end he has his arm around her in confusingly affectionate manner.  Meandi's pics show that time's a great healer, but Fafner's 1981 image is the one I was beginning to think we wouldn't find: a post-marriage-split but pre-ABBA-split confusingly affectionate Frida and Benny. |
