Some photos, but this is by no means all of it. These are mainly the items I'm most pleased with. The Japanese CD boxed set, replicating the UK albums artwork, is my most prized possession, closely followed by the blue vinyl UK singles boxed set.

Apologies for the quality of some of these photos but they're old ones taken on phones that don't have today's cameras.

The last photo shows the three versions of the "mini vinyl" CD boxed sets. At the top is the cheap "The Albums" set (2008), the middle row is the Japanese set with UK artwork (2004) and the bottom row is The Complete Studio Recordings (2005).

One more. That was pretty much my entire ABBA CD and DVD collection as of 2006.

Another item I'm pleased with, not pictured, is the 2008 vinyl reissue of The Album on Polar but with the UK artwork. The blue is slightly different - more turquoise - but it's pretty much done in the same style, complete with full gatefold.

Oh, and finally my collection of original UK singles. The only one I don't have is the original 1973 issue of Ring Ring. I have most of the various different UK/Irish Epic pressings of each single, but this photo just shows one of each (apart from picture discs and 12-inch of TWTIA).

As is glaringly obvious, I'm only really interested in collecting UK issues (in terms of pre-1992 releases). Foreign issues of singles and albums don't really interest me. I'd take an Epic company sleeve issue of, say, SOS, than any worldwide issue in a nice picture sleeve any day!

Alan, I see that in at least two of your photos, the cover of The Album has blue at the top (which I've seen in other pictures). Since the actual cover was all white, I was glad that sleeve in the TYFTM box set was all white.

^^ The blue cover is the UK version issued by CBS, who apparently decided the all-white sleeve wasn't commercial enough. Ask a UK fan who was into ABBA first time round which cover they prefer, and eight out of ten would probably say the blue one (myself included). It's all we knew - to us that was the cover, and we assumed it was how it was meant to be!

Even when the CD issue appeared in the 1990s with the white design, I assumed they'd changed the cover. Not sure exactly when I discovered the official cover was the white one, but I'd say it's only within the last 15 years.

I like to think that Polar took note of CBS's decision, hence Voulez-Vous having the blue design.

Speaking of collections... it makes me wonder: Is any of the members of this forum a proud owner of Hovas Vittne and/or Sång Till Görel 12" promos? Nobody mentioned them as being part of their wish lists but I guess these two records are every ABBA fan's holy grail :-)

Sång Till Görel had no B-side: www.discogs.com/ABBA-Stikkan-S%C3%A5ng-Till-G%C3%B6rel/release/4869879 It is said that only 50 copies were pressed, thus making it one of the rarest ABBA records. The number of copies of Hovas Vittne (https://www.discogs.com/ABBA-Hovas-Vittne/release/2011671) is reported around 200 but the prices are usually even higher than in the case of STG (maybe because it is a better song??). The version of Tivedshambo, which appeared on the B-side is just an instrumental, the version with ABBA members on vocals (performed during the documentary about Stikkan in 1986) remains unreleased, but can be found of various bootlegs.

I also nearly bought Chiquitita (Spanish Version) from Australia for around £10. It usually goes for around £100. But I was too late as someone else snapped it up before I got the chance too.

They're of course just the bootleg versions but as I will hardly ever lay my hands upon the originals, I'm very happy with these as they're very true replicas. Only the colour of Sång Till Görel is very pale and the record is transparent (I can't tell from the pictures if it's the same with your copy, The Rubber Ball Man).

Another item I'm extremely pleased with (although it's just ABBA-related) is One More Time's Living In A Dream CD in NM condition, which I bought for an unbelievable price of 2,9 Euro!!

Yeah, my copy is pale and transparent too with some swirls. I think it was worth it getting this record.

I got my hands on this little beauty today (well, not physically yet but it’s in the post). Paid more than I would have liked but these don’t come up very often.

In the UK, Epic changed its labels during the chart run of Gimme Gimme Gimme to the blue label with yellow script logo. Gimme was issued in both labels (with orange more common) but I Have A Dream was the first UK ABBA release to only be issued with the new label design.

Over in Ireland, they apparently had some of the old orange labels to use up, so the only orange label issued for this single comes from there. They similarly issued Greatest Hits Vol 2 on orange.

I’ve been after this for years so, despite the price (don’t ask) I’m pleased to have it.

(Not sure if the orange company sleeve is a modern replica - the single does have the familiar gatefold picture sleeve as well, which does contain the new Epic logo).

I still don't get why somebody would pay fortunes for a record just because of a different label. On the other hand, I've got all of the studio albums in multiple versions that are not that much different from each other too. So we're all the same, it seems

By the way, I almost forgot about these new important (in my eyes) additions to my collection:

They are the original Royal Records reissues, almost impossible to find today. I've been after them for a very long time and finally I got them all this year. However, they cost me a fortune. I still curse myself for not buying them when they were released but I wasn't that much interested in solo careers back then and least of all in Agnetha's pre-ABBA years… Time changes everything

Michal, I’ve noticed that Agnetha CDs go for ridiculous amounts. I got that cheap 5-CD “Original Album Classics” when it came out in the late 2000s for £15. It seems to fetch silly prices now, almost as much as the much better quality De Förster Åren set. I see you have Geh’ Mit Gott there which I know always attracts a lot of interest.

I’ve got most of the Epic label variants for ABBA singles - someone on a previous forum collected them and got me into it. The only one I’m really after now is I Have A Dream on the Dutch Epic label variant (dark blue/purple) issued for the UK market. It’s very rare - the collector I mentioned has got it but has only ever seen it for sale once and snapped it up. I don’t have any original 1973 Ring Ring single, only the 1974 remix. The original is very rare and I’m not paying about £250 for a 47-year-old vinyl single!

Yeah, the prices of some of the Agnetha CDs really are ridiculous and the Original Album Classics is the one example that surprises me most of all, as it contains nothing special and it looks quite cheap as well (I bought it too when it was released and now I'm almost tempted to sell it as I have the much superior De Första Åren set as well). It becomes especially pointless now, that all of the individual Swedish-language albums were re-released again by Sony Music.

However, these Royal Records CDs are a bit different as they contain (with the exception of Agnetha's first album) a material not available anywhere else. And the Geh' Mit Gott CD is the top of course. Still their prices were almost painful for me :-) However, even worse than these is the Jesus Christ Superstar double CD featuring Agnetha - I've seen a NM copy go for 300 Euro on Discogs the day it was listed…

By the way… I can understand that after collecting for years one has to "specialize" in something (Epic label variants in your case). It's impossible to have everything and sort of "scaling it down" and focusing on something makes it more enjoyable and attainable, I think.
