I've updated the following 2 'All Time' UK Chart Lists. ABBA are in both of them.
Today 'Sergeant Pepper' returned to No.1, in the UK Album Chart. It is The Beatles 175th No.1 Week in that Chart. However, it is not their 16th No.1 Album. They are still on 15. It is seen as their 1967 Album returning to No.1.
I know that it is awful that Westlife have had more UK No.1's than ABBA. However, ABBA spent far longer at No.1. Westlife's 14 No.1 Singles only spent 20 Weeks at No.1. That's the same as Slade achieved with just 6 No.1's. Westlife had 7 UK No.1 Albums, but they each only spent 1 Week at No.1. The 1st 7 UK No.1's by ABBA, were there for 48 Weeks & by the time they'd had 9, they had spent 57 Weeks at No.1......
THE ARTISTS WITH THE MOST No.1 WEEKS IN THE UK CHARTS
(S) = Singles + (A) = Albums
01)... THE BEATLES -- (S) 69 + (A) 175 = 244 Weeks
02)... ELVIS PRESLEY -- (S) 80 + (A) 66 = 146 Weeks
03)... ABBA -- (S) 31 + (A) 57 = 88 Weeks
04)... CLIFF RICHARD -- (S) 46 + (A) 30 = 76 Weeks
05)... ROLLING STONES -- (S) 18 + (A) 46 = 64 Weeks
06)... MADONNA -- (S) 29 + (A) 30 = 59 Weeks
07)... TAKE THAT -- (S) 29 + (A) 29 = 58 Weeks
08)... ELTON JOHN -- (S) 29 + (A) 23 = 52 Weeks
09)... MICHAEL JACKSON -- (S) 16 + (A) 31 = 47 Weeks
10)= ROD STEWART -- (S) 18 + (A) 28 = 46 Weeks 10)= ROBBIE WILLIAMS -- (S) 11 + (A) 35 = 46 Weeks
THE ARTISTS WITH THE MOST No.1 SINGLES & ALBUMS IN THE UK CHARTS
(S) = Singles + (A) = Albums
01)... ELVIS PRESLEY -- (S) 21 + (A) 13 = 34 No.1's
02)... THE BEATLES -- (S) 17 + (A) 15 = 32 No.1's @@@
03)... MADONNA -- (S) 13 + (A) 12 = 25 No.1's
04)= CLIFF RICHARD -- (S) 14 + (A) 7 = 21 No.1's 04)= WESTLIFE -- (S) 14 + (A) 7 = 21 No.1's
06)... ROLLING STONES -- (S) 8 + (A) 12 = 20 No.1's
07)= TAKE THAT -- (S) 12 + (A) 7 = 19 No.1's 07)= ROBBIE WILLIAMS -- (S) 7 + (A) 12 = 19 No.1's
09... ABBA -- (S) 9 + (A) 9 = 18 No.1's
10)= MICHAEL JACKSON -- (S) 7 + (A) 10 = 17 No.1's 10)= U2 -- (S) 7 + (A) 10 = 17 No.1's
@@@ = If The OCC count the current Beatles No.1 Album, as their 16th UK No.1 Album, then they have 33 UK No.1 Singles + Albums. They will still have one less than Elvis Presley, however.
(NOTE - They are still on 32 UK No.1's. The OCC have not counted the 2017 'Sergeant Pepper' as their 16th No.1 Album. They are still on 15. The OCC say that the 1967 Album has returned to No.1).

It's nice that ABBA are behind only the two all-time greats.
Presumably Sgt Pepper is now the album with the longest gap between spells at number one, overtaking Exile On Main Street, which in turn overtook ABBA Gold?

Can I add to this by adding 1 day to the No. 1 singles as One Of Us did hit the top one day.

Alexbury1 - There is a Myth that 'One Of Us' was No.1 for 1 Week, in the unpublished 'Official', (BMRB), Chart of W/E 2nd January 1982. BMRB always missed a Chart at the end - or start - of each Year. Although they gathered Sales Data for the missing Charts, they did not publish them. Instead they repeated the published Chart of the previous Week.
So, they repeated the W/E 26th December 1981 Chart on W/E 2nd January 1982. This meant that 'One Of Us' got a repeated Week at No.3 - giving it a 3rd & final Week at that Position.
So a Myth has grown, that the ABBA Hit was really No.1 in the unpublished W/E 2nd January Chart. It wasn't. It rose from No.3 to No.2 in that Chart. It managed to outsell 'Daddy's Home' by Cliff Richard, for that one Week. I've been told that 'One Of Us' sold 96,000 in the missing Week & Cliff's Hit sold 92,000. However, in the repeated W/E 2nd January 1982 Chart, Cliff got a 4th & final Week at No.2 & ABBA had their 3rd & last No.3 Week.
However, at no time did either ABBA or Cliff reach No.1, during that Christmas & New Year. The Human League's 'Don't You Want Me' held them at No.2 & No.3, and spent 5 Weeks at No.1. It also sold a UK Million.
Incidently, the BMRB forgot to add ABBA's Sales to 'One Of Us' for the missing Week. As a result, they have it on 96,000 UK Sales lower than it should have. They also have only 170,000 Sales for 'S.O.S' & it should be at least 240,000. They have just 310,000 Sales for 'Money, Money, Money' - because they were only given its 1976 Sales & it sold well over 150,000 more in 1977. (The OCC 'only' give 'One Of Us' 405,000 1981/1982 Sales & it is really at least 501,000. Then you have to add in over 35,000 UK Download Sales for it - since November 2004. The OCC only took over the UK Charts in February 1994, but they 'inherited' the - too low - BRMB UK Totals of 'S.O.S.', 'Money, Money, Money' & 'One Of Us').
Gary - The OCC don't regard the 'Exile On Main Street', that went to No.1 in 2010, as being the return of the 1972 Album to No.1. They used to regard it as the same Album, but they changed their minds a few Years ago. They did that because the 2010 Edition had a 2nd Disk added - with 10 'New' Songs & they decided that it should be regarded as a different No.1 Album than the 1972 Edition. So, that is why The OCC give the Rolling Stones 12 UK No.1 Albums & not 11.
However, I worked this out - today - to amuse myself. (Pretending that the 1972 Edition returned to No.1 in 2010). I added it to a few UK Chart Sites - hence why I repeat what I've already said, in the ABBA Chat part of this Post, in the final paragraph.
WHICH 2 UK ALBUMS HAVE THE BIGGEST 'GAP' & THE BIGGEST 'SPAN' BETWEEN RETURNING TO No.1?
A)... Beatles
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band
ITS 'GAP' BETWEEN LAST BEING AT No.1 & RETURNING TO No.1
W/E 3rd February 1968 to W/E 8th June 2017 = 49 Years & 4 Months
ITS 'SPAN' BETWEEN FIRST BEING AT No.1 & RETURNING TO No.1
W/E 10th June 1967 to W/E 8th June 2017 = 50 Years
It was last at No.1 in 1968. It was its 27th No.1 Week. If The OCC regard its current No.1 Position as being by the same Album, then it has its 28th Week at No.1 today. As well as being the longest 'Gap' between an Album last being at No.1 & it returning to No.1.
It also has the longest 'Span' of an Album first reaching No.1 & next reaching No.1. In both cases 'Exile On Main Street' by the Rolling Stones has the 2nd longest 'Gap' & the 2nd longest 'Span'.
B)... Rolling Stones
This Rolling Stones Album only spent 1 Week at No.1 in both 1972 and 2010. Therefore its No.1 'Gap' & 'Span' cover the same amount of time.....
Exile On Main Street
W/E 10th June 1972 to W/E 29th May 2010 = 37 Years & 11 Months
However - The OCC regard it as not being their 1972 Album returning to No.1. The 2010 No.1 had a 2nd Disk, of 10 'New' Songs, added, so The OCC decided that it was a brand new No.1 Album for the Group. Which is why The OCC counted the 'Blue & Lonesome' No.1, (December 2016), as the Rolling Stones 12th UK No.1 Album & not their 11th.

...at no time did either ABBA or Cliff reach No.1, during that Christmas & New Year. The Human League's 'Don't You Want Me' held them at No.2 & No.3... So ABBA was number one, in a way. Jo Callis of The Human League, who co-wrote Don't You Want Me, freely admits that its main riff was nicked from Eagle

Thanks Colin.
I know it is an old and irrelevant issue now, but why is Elvis Presley considered to have 21 number one singles? Surely it is really only 18 (still the most by any artist!), as the last three are only reissues of previous number ones, and shouldn't be counted twice.

Gary - I've discussed why Elvis has 21 UK No.1's with various 'Chart Experts'.
He's had 18 Songs reaching No.1 in the UK, but 21 No.1 Hits.
It is because his 19th, 20th & 21st No.1's, in 2005, had a Bonus Track added to the 'B' Side. They each had the same 'B' Side, that they had, when they first reached No.1, but a 2nd 'B' Side was added to each. They also had new Catalogue Numbers. Due to this, it was decided that they were 'new' Elvis No.1's & not just 3 of his old No.1's returning there.
It is all very controversial, as he'd have 18 No.1's, if the 3 in 2005 were not counted twice. It annoys Beatles Fans, as they have 17 UK No.1 Singles, but they would have 18, if the 'Record Retailer' Chart had not been chosen, (by Guinness Books), for the UK Charts of the 1960's. 'Record Retailer' had 'Please Please Me', (1963), as a No.2 Hit, but it was No.1 in the other UK Charts of that time - 'New Musical Express', 'Melody Maker' and 'Disc'. So, Beatles Fans feel that The Beatles were 'cheated' out of a No.1 Hit. Elvis & The Beatles would have 18 UK No.1 Singles each, if he had not been given 3 No.1's in 2005 & if The Beatles 'Please Please Me' had not been counted as a No.2 Hit.
All 18 of Elvis's pre-2005 UK No.1 Hits were re-issued in 2005, & all 18 reached the Top 5. With 3 reaching No.1, as I've said.

Thanks Colin. The logic is certainly a bit controversial!
