In today's UK Album Chart -- W/E 7th September 2017 - 'ABBA Gold' rises from No.89 to No.76.
It sold about 1,370 copies to reach No.76.
1)... It becomes the 1st Album to reach 800 Top 100 Weeks, in the UK. (32 more Weeks and it will have been in the UK Top 100 for 16 Years).
2)... It has spent 526 Weeks in the UK Top 75. That is the 2nd most Weeks by any Album.
ALBUMS WITH THE MOST UK TOP 75 WEEKS
A)... Legend -- Bob Marley & The Wailers -- 545 Weeks B)... ABBA Gold -- ABBA -- 526 Weeks C)... Greatest Hits (One) -- Queen -- 518 Weeks @@@
@@@ = The OCC say 524 Top 75 Weeks, for the Queen Compilation. They give it 7 Weeks too many. They include the 7 Top 75 Weeks of a Double CD, (Greatest Hits I & II), from 1994. That was a No.37 Hit, but its 7 Top 75 Weeks should not be included in the Chart Run of the 1981 Greatest Hits Album. So, we remove 7 Weeks from The OCC Total = 517 Weeks. Then we add in a No.73 Week, for W/E 9th October 1982 = 518 Weeks. For some reason, The OCC miss out that 1982 No.73 Position.
The 7 Top 75 Positions - 1994 Double CD - that The OCC wrongly include with Queen's Greatest Hits (One), are:
W/E 19th November 1994 – 37-40-50-43-40-39-44
3)... FURTHER TOP 100 WEEKS -- THAT THE OCC DO NOT HAVE
The UK Album Chart has been a Top 100 for many Years. This includes 12th September 1992 to February 5th 1994. However, The OCC only have Top 75's for that, (1992 to 1994), period.
A)... The OCC give Greatest Hits (One) by Queen, 788 Top 100 Weeks. That is wrong. You have to remove the 7 Top 100 Weeks of the 1994 Double CD. That gives 781 Weeks. Then you add in the No.73 Top 100 Week that they miss out, from October 1982. That gives 782 Weeks. So, that is its real Top 100 Weeks, from the Charts that The OCC have. The Queen Album loses 32 Top 100 Weeks from September 1992 to W/E 5th February 1994, as The OCC only has Top 75's. So, that's 782 Weeks + 32 = 814 Top 100 Weeks. So, the Queen Album was really the 1st UK Album to reach 800 Top 100 Weeks, 14 Weeks ago. But, The OCC don't have 32 of its Top 100 Positions.....
B)... They, (OCC), give 'Legend' 787 Top 100 Weeks. However, they miss out 19 of its Top 100 Positions, from 1993, when they only have Top 75's. Plus 2 further Top 100 Positions from January 1994. That's 21 Top 100 Positions, that 'Legend' loses. It should really have 808 Top 100 Weeks, which means that it too reached 800 UK Top 100 Weeks before 'ABBA Gold'.
C)... ABBA Gold is really on 802 Top 100 Weeks. The OCC only have Top 75's for 2 Weeks when it was at No.77 - W/E 22nd May 1993 and W/E 5th February 1994.

Thanks for that, Colin. It's always nice to know that ABBA holds a record, even when they actually don't! It's amazing how many mistakes there are in the official listings!

I guess the thing that aggravates me the most, regardless of who , is that the information is known, but not acted upon, why?
Again, many thanks for the facts and figures, so close to being in the official top 75, would have been nice if it's 800th week was in the official chart.
Another why? Why isn't the top 100 officially recognised? Top 75 seems very strange figure after all theses years, I know initially it was to separate out the compilation albums, but now surely there's enough albums to compile a official top 100, after all they have had the figures for years...

The Sales of 'ABBA Gold' have slightly risen in the UK today, (Amazon & Itunes), due to the 'Mamma Mia!' Film being shown on ITV1 & ITV1+, earlier this Evening. It has not been shown on UK TV for a few Months.
Gary & Graham, (ForeverFan), The OCC took over the compiling of the UK Charts on W/E 12th February 1994. They are aware that the UK Album Chart was a Top 100 between W/E 12th September 1992 & W/E 5th February 1994, but they only have Top 75's for that period.
I have all of the 'missing' Top 100's. I offered to send them to my OCC Contacts, about 3 Years ago. However, they never got back to me & I can only assume that they have Zero interest in having those Top 100's on their Site. They seem happy to stick with Top 75 Album Charts for that period. (In the past, they have told me that only the Top 75 Charts count, as the Top 75 is all that 'Music Week' is willing to publish in its Magazine. So, that is why only the Top 75 Singles & Albums are used for most UK Chart Statistics - even though The OCC compile Weekly Top 100's for the UK Charts).
Over the Years, (15!), that I've had OCC 'Contacts', I've noticed that they often just ignore me, if I point out mistakes on their Site. It took me about 4 Years, to get them to give ABBA's '18 Hits' its correct UK Peak Position - No.15. They had it as a No.17 UK Hit.
The Beatles are the most successful Group on the UK Singles & Albums Charts. But, The OCC even has a few errors, on their Site about them. They say that their 17 UK No.1 Singles, were at No.1 for Total of 65 Weeks. That is wrong. It was 69 Weeks. They only give 'Get Back', (1969), 2 Weeks at No.1 & it should be 6 No.1 Weeks - so that is why they have 'lost' 4 of The Beatles 69 UK No.1 Singles Weeks. In another part of their Site, they get it right & 'Get Back' gets 6 No.1 Weeks. I've told them - more than once - about their mistake, but they just ignore me. They also regard the 1987 re-issue of 'Sgt Pepper' as a different Album than the 1967 release. So, they keep its 1987 Chart Run apart from the rest of that Album's UK Chart Weeks. This is wrong. The 1987 Album was the same as the 1967 Album. It was just that it was on CD & not Vinyl. But as long as it is the same Album, its 1987 Chart Run should be added to the rest of its 1967 to 2017 Chart Run. (It reached No.3 in 1987, spending 12 Weeks in the Top 75 & 16 Weeks in the Top 100).
I no longer contact The OCC as much, as I find it very frustrating, to be ignored, when I point out errors on their Site...

^^^thanks Colin, totally understand the frustration, especially when the facts are there in black and white, it's becoming socially more and more popular to print fake news, and it's becomes increasingly more difficult to know what to believe.
I just find it incredible that someone somewhere is basically to lazy to look into the facts that are presented, let alone not acknowledge that they will look into it..
Its down to people like your good self that accumulate facts and figures that give us a more realistic view and when it suits they ask you!!!!, hard to believe it doesn't work both ways .. thanks for all your hard work.
