Depending on the success of Mamma Mia 2 do you think that it could transfer to stage? Would be amazing to have two running in the West End but I think that unlikely and probably put to rest Mamma Mia 1 for a while.

I think I brought this up a while back. My question then was: the first Mamma Mia started in theatre and became a film, whereas the second Mamma Mia is starting as a film, so will it move to theatre? Why is Mamma Mia 2 not starting in the theatre?

Not sure why? As it’s not a rush release on the back of Mamma Mia 1. Maybe they’re staging it....sorry I couldn’t resist. Maybe waiting to guage the success of MM2? Get the masses familiar with all of the songs first? Would love a stage version with that catalogue of songs. I just hope the script is good.

I suppose it is possible that Mamma Mia 2 may make it to the stage. Maybe it will depend on whether the film is a success. The choice of songs is an excellent start.

I don't think any of us knows how well (or not well) the movie would transfer to stage, since we haven't seen the movie. I doubt that there are any plans to do it on the stage.
