So, Frida's chart run in the UK was basically crap. I Know There's Something Going On peaked at #43. Here We'll Stay popped in at #100. Shine got punched, ending up at #82. But that's not all. Time was released as a duet with BA Robertson and did not get any higher than #45. How come I Know There's Something Going On and Time have similar chart results? I Know There's Something Going On is a far superior song than Time. Even the single cover for I Know There's Something Going On is better than the half-arsed monstrosity cover for Time. I am aware that Frida only promoted Time in the UK but surely that's not a reason why it was up there with I Know There's Something Going On? Also, does anyone know about the chart placings for To Turn The Stone and Heart of the (Bloody) Country?

I cannot understand the lack of success in the UK of IKTSGO. By far the best solo single release. Thinking back I cannot remember it getting much airplay in the UK. That song is still fresh today. The other solo 80’s album tracks all seem a bit dated. Some songs were just awful ...I See Red, The Heat is on, Take good care of your children, I Got Something, Shine, Let it Shine and Click Track. By comparison ‘A’ is a wonderful album and I like MCB but strangely I do not like Sometimes When I’m Dreaming. This seems to be a favourite of fans. My favourite from that album is (the U2ish)What now my love.

I dunno, the UK, a previously loyal market, seemed to turn its back on ABBA and anything related in those years. I mean, IKTSGO was even a hit in Australia two years after Molly Meldrum was chucking a copy of the Super Trouper LP over his shoulder. You also can never under-estimate the importance of promotion. As Bjorn said himself "If you feel you've done a great job recording an album, why do a bad job promoting it?". I guess there's many a good song that has never got its' dues because it wasn't pushed into the public awareness enough. Frida promoted heavily in Europe for the SGO album and the title song got plenty of airplay via MTV in the USA too. But as far as the UK was concerned, what did the promotion amount to? The briefest of appearances on TOTP's.
