The problem with JLT was those awkward lyrics. Under Attack had better lyrics but I was not keen on the sound of the song. Seemed dated by 1982.

Smooth Radio. 12 Abba songs made it Dancing Queen highest at number 10. Neither DSMD or ISHFIY made the list. TDBYC did. Surprised S.O.S, LAYLOM, TACOM did not make it yet TYFTM and IHAD did.

Smooth Top 500 2022 this weekend. So far Abba have 5 between 401 and 500. Those being Waterloo, KMKY, TDBYC, Mamma Mia and IHAD. Wonder if DSMD or ISTHFIY will feature.

The songs on Voyage are age appropriate. Having songs like Angel Eyes or When I kissed the teacher would seem odd if they were on Voyage. Fun thought...what if one of the unfinished tracks was titled Voyage? Might explain the album title. Or is it a nod to ISHFIY...the journey they have been on through the years? Love the album . Warming to LT.

Few other Abba inspired songs intended or not....Olivers Army Elvia Costello. Love Patrol, Chosen Few and Wanted by the Doolets. Angelo Lightning Flash Brotherhood of Man, Fantasy Islandand a few more Tight Fit songs. Several Steps songs and Sex Pistols Pretty Vacant. Think there is a band called Luv and another European act ...the name escapes me two guys and two girls who have Abba sounding songs...Champagne?

Listening to tracks on random TKHLHC came on. Never been a favourite. Love the verses and Frida's vocals. Just don't like the chorus. I read the boys were very proud of this song. The verses reminds me of Dreams by Fleetwood Mac...which I love. And with it being on random I was reminded how many of the earlier songs featured the boys on vocals either sharing or as leads.

I do wish they would change that line in Happy New year to something else....what lies waiting down the line with the passing of time ...would work. It would un date it immediately. I am sure there are other suggestions out there.

I think that there was scope for two more singles from The Album in the USA...Eagle, One Man One Woman or Hole in your Sole. And Summer Night city in 1978. It was if the record company could no long er be bothered and were putting their efforts in elsewhere. Or maybe they would have to have toured more often.

Interesting about IIWFTN losing out on single status because or record labels not keen on it. Never heard that before. Seems strange that it went from a contender to being overlooked in favour of 6 other tracks being released as singles if you include AGAN. I love it. I keep thinking about the Abba campaign in the USA and wonder if the record company have done more ....especially after 1978. Chiquitita should have been recorded in Spanish sooner as a double A side with the English version given that Spanish is the second language of USA and released right after the Unicef concert not at the end of year. Think momentum was lost after TACOM. 1979 was disco at its peak so don't understand why Abba fared badly there compared to other artists.

Love TNOTG but I think they will be trying to keep the momentum of uptempo numbers with a few slower ones. Cannot see them missing out two of their biggest global hits ...Fernando or Chiquitita. I will be surprised if anything pre Waterloo makes the list...although I do love A lot of those songs. It's just they are do many fantastic Abba songs to choose from. I would rather KOF or IIWFTN made the list over UA OR TKHLHC. And it pains me to say TFTM is likely to be perceived as a fan favourite even now. Liked it when I was young but lost favour with me over the years. I suspect a lot of people may have outgrown it.

Trying to guess the set list...Waterloo SOS Mamma Mia Dancing Queen KMKY TACOM SNC VV GGG ST TWTIA TV STMF OOU ISHFIY DSMD Chiquita and Fernando MMM LAYLOM DYMK and TFTM. Not in that order. I would prefer IIWFTN and or KOF or AGAN and leave out TFTM. Dan might be a good inclusion as it could lead into Sos.
Waterloo...think the best follow up would have to have been Honey Honey. Although the other suggestions are interesting. I do like My Mamma said. Kind of funky.

I have recently been listening to Agnetha's albums. I have rated them as follows. 1 A 2 Wrap your Arms Around Me 3 My Colouring Book 4 I stand alone 5 Eyes of a woman
A is by far my favourite.
With Frida...like both equally.

The only track I struggle with is Little Things. I love Bumblebee probably because of its ecological message, my love of bumblebees , the garden and Fernando. I would have preferred to have waited until this year for the album if it had meant swapping LT for a finished version of one of the other two unfinished tracks or maybe even both. I think I would have released the singles separately...ISHFIY before Christmas and DSMD prior to the release of the album this year then NDAI. Bumblebee in my top 3 after the first two singles.

ABBA have covered many topics in their songs unlike most acts which are usually love gone wrong songs and not afraid to try different styles. Voyage is no exception.

That would have been a killer combination in those days Abba and the Bee Gees. If I can't have you is a favourite of mine. On Voyage as with previous albums ,Abba offer so much variety. Voulez Vous probably the least. Still a fabulous album though with disco driving the album apart from Chiquitita and IHAD. They maybe should have included SNC and left off IHAD for the Christmas hit. Or included JAN too and left of Chiquitita as a stand alone single too. Just a thought.

I think people should regard the concert more of an experience than a conventional concert. I cannot imagine George Lucas lending his name to anything sub standard. The technology and the wages of the live orchestra, purpose built arena costs and staff add into the cost of the experience. I remain optimistic that it will be a success. I kind of like anything Abba from the musical, to the films, Bjorn Again . So for me it will probably work.

I am sure that at the concerts they will promote the album before each concert starting . Are we now up to three tracks from Voyage being part of the set?

See Tears for fears album went in at No.2 and one of their fans is disappointed as lack of streaming kept it from number one. In for a bigger shock next week as it will probably plummet out of the top 10 after its first week.Good to see Voyage hanging in there. I am sure the concerts will give it a boost.

Seems to me that recent articles are rewriting pop history. ABBA were the biggest selling act of the seventies yet a recent music programme added in revenue from concerts to relegate Abba to 4th place behind Elton John, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones. And the linked article earlier suggests Queen were bigger than Abba. Not according to the European charts I watched from that era or the charts in the UK at that time....Abba 7 number one singles, Queen 1 and Abba 5 number ones in the album charts . Queen I think had two at most in the seventies in the UK. Boney M had more number ones than Queen and great chart success in Germany. I like Queen but in the seventies Abba outsold them.

ABBA have sold in the Uk about 12 million singles and about 18 million albums ...GH1 and Gold accounting for about 8.5 million alone. Globally I suspect around 200 million. But other artists have inflated figures too. Estimations for the Beatles and Elvis would seem exceptionally high too. Probably closer to 600 million if that. Madonna and Michael Jackson must be around 250 to 300 million given the length of their careers. What is without doubt is that they are the most successful global band whose first language is not English.

Hometime. I remember in the 70s and 80s older acts still getting in to the top 10 and number one. To get into the top 100 today would be an achievement unless you do an Elton.

Doubt if BTS etc would be able to return with an album after 40 years and have the success they have now. The fans will all be 50 + with different priorities. The singles charts has been hijacked by the young because of streaming. By their middle age they won't be streaming so much. Abba have done so well to return with a great success with age appropriate material. Can't imagine them having a song like Angel Eyes on Voyage. Not really age appropriate in their 70s. Also sadly a lot of record /cd buying Abba fans will have passed away over 40 years and a lot will be in their 80s and older. So that to would have an impact on sales today compared to yesteryear. That said they will no doubt have gained a lot of new fans.

I had a quick look at a list I completed prior to this poll. 13 of the Top 20 appeared in my top 20 although not in the positions here. From the first 3 albums only SOS and Mamma Mia made my top 20. Ring Ring was not in my Top 40. That said I love it. Just so much competition from their impressive catalogue.
