Given that Gold has sold in excess of 5 300 000, if even a fraction of those record buyers buy the track unavailable on an album elsewhere, surely they could achieve number one for at least one week. With the hype around the single and the release of Mamma Mia 2 on dvd it’s not impossible. Remember Abba albums sold in excess of 1 million and singles still managed to sell in excess of 500 000 despite being on albums at the time of their release.

Maybe it’s to give it a better chance of being the biggest selling single of the year and to avoid competition from the dreadful X factor finalist. Can’t believe people still watch that. Should have been retired 5 years ago.

Sounds a bit of a prat. Childish behaviour. I love how someone else’s talent and success can irk another with little or no talent. Maybe he should find a real job. If any employer would have him. Just ignore him. I find that works with misbehaving children.

Some of these critics are no doubt from the USA which was the only major sales territory that did not embrace Abba with same gusto as everywhere else. They were besotted with everything Bee Gees at the time. Regardless of where the critics are from, their reviews are poorly researched and somewhat lazy. Abba are not the sum of their singles. Many unreleased album tracks could have been singles. Michael Jackson released practically every song from some of his albums. I considered some of those tracks should not have been released as singles. I guess some critics struggle to recognise the 2nd biggest selling band of all time. Critics should get a real job and save us from their opinions or if they have to ... they should at least do their research and give a balanced opinion.

Critics are only people with opinions. Why they are paid for their opinions is beyond me. And some with inflated egos who believe that people really hang on their every word. I usually trust the opinions of family and friends. Much more reliable. I doubt if Universal, Abba fans and movie fans are losing sleep over this person’s loathing of everything Abba. Maybe this ‘celeb’ thinks he or she can do better and sell more than 400 million records worldwide not to mention the industry that is Mamma Mia and the jobs that have been sustained over the years by the Abba brand. I suspect not.

Fernando would have been on Arrival had it not been included on Greatest Hits to help push the sales of that album at the time in the Uk and North America. Summer night city was earmarked for Voulez Vous but dropped as the boys were not satisfied that it fitted the Abba sound. Suspect it was released to keep the band in the public eye in a very quiet year for Abba towards the 2nd half of 1978. Gimme Gimme Gimme is probably the only single until recently that was never earmarked for the next album. We can only hope that the group might just give us that final album over the next few years.

Yeah I noticed that in my selection. Think because Cher has a deeper vocal than Frida and I cannot imagine Cher singing a song lead by Agnetha with much higher vocals.

Only abba4me, I agree. Don’t try to replicate the song reinvent it, I heard Cher had planned to do them different. Fantastic that two of the biggest female icons have covered Abba . ....Madonna and Cher. Doesn’t get better than that. Maybe Streisand to complete the set.

As reported in the press, Cher will release an Album of Abba songs. My wish list given her vocals... Hey Hey Helen, When All is said And Done, Andante Andante, Knowing me Knowing You, Soldiers, Voulez Vous, Does Your Mother Know, Lay all Your love on Me, The Visitors, One Man One Woman, Waterloo, Gonna sing you my Lovesong. And the others already in the bag Super Trouper and Fernando.

Yeah I read that too. Benny has composed so many tunes since Abba that I am sure that there must be sufficient to choose from to be reworked into new Abba tunes with lyrics. Could result in the perfect pop album and be their Opus 10.

Would be nice to hear Arrival in the film. Maybe when Cher is arriving by helicopter. Would be a nod to the album cover.

Given the release so close to Christmas maybe Happy New Year . Wish that they would re record the line ‘in the end of 89’as it dates the song. Maybe they could go back in the studio briefly for that . Maybe something like.....’what lies waiting down the line in the passing of time’ or ‘what lies waiting down the line in the journey that is time’. Would be good to give this gem a bit more exposure.

Was surprised by some of the Abba omissions and placements. Maybe I missed them but no Gimme Gimme Gimme, Summernight City, DYMK, LAYLOM or Angel Eyes. But I Have a Dream and Thankyou for the Music made it with another 13 Abba songs. Biggest shock ....no Take a Chance On Me. Overall most placements down on last year. And as for top song ...Ed with Perfect. Really ?? I really don’t get the popularity of both Ed and Adele. Especially the latter....too dreary. If I answered the phone to her ‘Hello’ I would hang up. Must be a lot of depressed people out there. Don’t think there were any Queen songs? That surprises me.

Think her vocals are different at the end as the vocals are supposed to sound like the child referred to in the song. Dolly Parton does a more obvious example on ‘Me and Little Andy’. It seems like TFTPOO is not liked by alot of fans. I too feel that it spoils an otherwise fantastic album. Just remember at the time it was been considered for single release. Eek! The Visitors with a good video would have been a better choice than Head over Heels. Both TFTPOO and HOH aimed for humorous lyrics. Probably to lighten the mood of the album. Hey even the Beatles got it wrong with Yellow Submarine. Mind you I do love that daft Muppet song Mah na Mah Nah doo doo doo doo. Makes me smile everytime. Probably a good song to end team / board meetings with.

That’s providing people go to see it if they think it’s just the same soundtrack! Not sure the marketing team have got it right. With those trailers and if I was not an Abba fan and informed I don’t think I would be going to see it. They should have a re think and soon. They need to highlight that there are a batch of new songs in the film.

Don’t get it. Even if they voiced over saying 17 new songs with some old favourites. If I didn’t know better I would be under the impression it’s the same soundtrack.

Maybe an alternative version of the songs. Not sure if they would release anything on the b side that did not make the grade for fear of sub standard songs tarnishing the new releases. Maybe something from Mamma Mia 2 like WIKTT or IBWFY.

Oh no. They need to move away from those songs and show new ones and i really cant take to I have a dream. So many good songs and this ends up in both! People will think it’s the same songs with a slightly different story especially if they only occasionally go to the cinema and see the trailer showing the same songs. My advice dump the trailers featuring the songs from Mamma Mia 1 and start showing trailers with the new songs.

Not sure why that should be in Sweden. If it had not been for Abba I doubt if record companies would have given artists from non speaking English countries a second thought. So Roxette, The Cardigans etc might not have hit the charts outwith Scandinavia quite as easily or at all. Most countries would celebrate having the 2nd biggest selling band in pop history. Not to mention the money they have generated for their country.

Given the title of the first new single depending on the lyrics it might be a favourite at wedding anniversaries, weddings and maybe spiritual occasions.

Could it be that Donna has passed away given that Like an Angel passing through my room is in the film? Might be an easier song for Pierce to sing and a harder one for us to listen to. If she has passed on ... it could be the new ‘Beaches’. Loved that film. Made me feel good and sad but uplifting at the end.

I can see Fernando and Knowing me Knowing you adding to those figures after Mamma Mia 2 has been released.Could push KMKY over 900 000 and Fernando over 800 000. Bit of a tall ask but wouldn’t it be great for KMKY to push over and join the million club. That would give us two Abba songs with over a million sales in the UK.

I can see it being a hit .A bit cultish . I can watch Abba videos over and over again and never tire especially with a bottle of wine. This would be a whole new experience to enjoy. They have to get the price of the ticket right. Cost may deter if too expensive. Years down the line it might be possible to have holograms appear in our own homes. Who knows.....look how far mobile phones have come and driverless cars. In the words of Abba ....’What about Livingstone?’

I am sure that the songs will be the quality we expect. And I would rather have Abba back in the studio with the prospect of new recordings than touring with none. They said in the past that touring kills creativity and that they would continue recording as long as it was fun. Seems like it’s fun again. Could be the compromise and the balance they need...recording at a more relaxed pace without having to adhere to schedules and travelling the world. Bjorn has hinted there could be more.
