According to the Sun. When asked about more songs he said ‘Who knows’?’ and added they never said they would not reunite in the studio just on tour. Well......

I am hoping for 1976/1977/1980 or 1975 when DQ and Fernando were recorded. 1972 was when they were finding their feet and even Ring Ring was one of their lesser hits although I do like the wall of sound.

Thanks Fafner. I love those songs so it’s looking good. And there is the uptempo Don’t shut me down too to look forward to. And Mamma Mia 2. What a year this is turning out to be! 🇸🇪🎼🍾🎉

I’m not up on musical jargon. Can someone give me an example of a 6/8 ? A song title? I can see how the title would fit a gospel treatment. That would be a different direction for Abba. Could be perfect for Christmas if the lyric is ambiguous enough . Boy, they have got us all guessing. And an Abbatar video to go with it. Wonder what outfits they will wear..... ones from 79 era or new ones with a 79 influence? Will they just be singing or will there be a few classic Abba poses.....back to back , profiles etc? And not that I watch it now but an Abbatar appearance on the X factor or Strictly?

So if we all stream that should help. Not sure why the album chart and physical sales should be different from the singles chart. Streaming seems to de value the number one title. Does this happen in the USA charts?

Very catchy with all those Abba hooks. Fun identifying them . Can’t get 🎶🎶I’ve been waiting to meet her for over a week’🎶🎶out of my head. Made me smile. 😊

Heard that neither of the girls are taking the lead vocal. That will be so unusual on a ballad. And trying to think of one where that has happened before. Can think of uptempo numbers like Voulez Vous and Dancing Queen . But a ballad? Maybe someone can help me out.

The bookies are not often wrong. And the boys are such perfectionists I cannot seem them risking their reputation. And I think the girls would have commented if they thought there was a risk. I was sceptical about Mamma Mia way back in the day and what a juggernaut that turned out to be and again when they took it to movie and again massive. And then the DVD . Phenomenal sales first day and overall. Mamma Mia 2 will be released in time for Christmas and the hype from that alone will help boost the new single/s. Going to be a busy year. Ballads always do well as Adele &Sam Smith have found out. Who knows if the demand is there, they may be tempted to complete one last album. Let’s face it Benny has been composing many tunes over the years since Abba. Maybe some with Bjorn’s lyrics could provide sufficient material for a classic album.

Read that bookmakers are confident the new songs will reach number one. Odds 4/7.

Fabulous news. Smiles across the world. Loads of coverage. It would be fab if they could hit number one again. Given that 5 million people plus have bought Gold that is a big potential market for any new material. If released in December could it be their first Christmas number one?

Well it is a fabulous opportunity to promote the back catalogue for those non fans. If there is to be another compilation album the album should also promote the studio albums in the inner sleeve to make it easier for people wanting to be a bit more adventurous.

I cannot understand the lack of success in the UK of IKTSGO. By far the best solo single release. Thinking back I cannot remember it getting much airplay in the UK. That song is still fresh today. The other solo 80’s album tracks all seem a bit dated. Some songs were just awful ...I See Red, The Heat is on, Take good care of your children, I Got Something, Shine, Let it Shine and Click Track. By comparison ‘A’ is a wonderful album and I like MCB but strangely I do not like Sometimes When I’m Dreaming. This seems to be a favourite of fans. My favourite from that album is (the U2ish)What now my love.

It makes business sense to release a new Abba compilation to mirror the songs in Mamma Mia 2. Also a good opportunity to promote the studio albums in a booklet to accompany the release to introduce a new audience to the Abba catalogue. Why not make it easier for them? As for songs reappearing I hope they keep them to a minimum .. Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia. Too many other good songs need an airing.

Strictly speaking they all should have question marks but other songs by other artists don’t too. ...How deep is your love..,How do I know....When....Whose gonna rock me now.....Who we’re you with in the moonlight.....When will I see you again....Have you ever fallen in love ....Do you really want to hurt me......Will you still love me tomorrow..What now my love ...and the list goes on. La question n’est pas voulez vous, mais .....why?

I wonder how long it will be before we can have life size Abba holograms playing in our front rooms? And other artists too . You could have your own nostalgia parties with a fantastic line up of holograms. I would have Abba, Donna Summer, Blondie, Chic, Spice Girls , the Carpenters, Lady Gaga and Madonna ...to name a few.

All seems to quiet on Mamma Mia 2 song content. Seems strange given the amount of people involved that more songs have not leaked out.

Would like to think a new more relevant compilation would be made to ride on the success of Mamma Mia 2. Universal should also include a booklet giving details of the original studio albums to help boost their sales. All seems to be quiet on the song content from the film.

My 1st was when the original Bjorn Again played a small intimate venue, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow around 1992. The advertisement showed them in the Arrival inner sleeve pose with the heading ....They are back or are they? I had to look twice. It was part of their first tour of the Uk. It held about 200 people. Such was the demand they had to play 2 concerts. They were fab and as I missed out on the real thing I was in heaven. They returned to play bigger and bigger venues each time they returned. One of my favourites was at the Kings theatre where they teased the fans all night with the intro to Dancing Queen only to play it at the encore as the audience chanted Dancing Queen until they reappeared to perform it. They brought the house down. To me they were the original and best tribute band. Loved the erasureish video and the Santa Clause is coming to town video. When was your first tribute experience and do you have a favourite?!Voulez Vous tribute good too.

During the lean active years 1977, 1978, 1980 and 1981 which acts or singles plugged the gaps in between Abba’s New releases? For me 1977, Elo-Donna Summer ...I feel love and la Belle Époque Black is Black, 1978....Rivers of Babylon , Rumours and everything Grease, 1980.....Blondie Atomic and Call me.and the Pretenders...1981 . Starsound. After Abba for me Madonna and Bananarama and Kylie to Steps and Lady Gaga.

Can’t help thinking that Agnetha could have picked better single choices from her albums... Wrap your Arms Around me should have been the lead single with Cant she loose as the follow up and Mr Persuasion. Tracy Ullman had hits at that time with similar sounding nostalgic hits to Mr Persuasion in ‘’They Don,t Know’ and ‘Move over Darling’. The Heat is On left me cold and sounded like some boozy rabble in a pub. With My Colouring Book the Dave version of ‘If I could change your mind ‘ would have been better but only after the release of the U2 inspired ‘What now my Love’ . What a missed oppurtunity. Then from ‘A’ ....Dance you pain away as lead single , then ‘if I was a flower’ . Frida got it right with IKTSGO. Never understood why that was not mega in the (UK). The Shine album should have been a fabulous album with Kirsty McColl and Steve Lilliwhite on board but there were no obvious choices as singles on that album. The best of the English solo albums for me is easily ‘A’ followed by WYAAM , MCB and Something’s going on . Best single ...way out there IKTGO.

You should maybe listen to the remix of The Day Before You Came on You Tube. It mixes it with Head over Heels and speeds it up. Sounds more commercial and with that treatment would probably have been at least Top 5 in the UK maybe even a number one.Although I do like the original more dramatic version. The pop world was not ready for TDBYC in 1982. The charts were Under Attack from New Romantics and novelties like the Goombay Dance Band’s ‘Seven Tears’ and songs like ‘I eat cannibals ‘and ‘the Lion sleeps Tonight ‘and ,Save your Love’ and ‘ Break my Stride’ and ‘La Dolce Vita’. Not to mention Black Lace with two horrors...’Superman’ and ‘Agadoo’ and the Tweets with ‘The Birdie Dance’. TDBYC did not stand a chance in that pop landscape,

Probably the weakest song on the Abba album but kind of funky as is Lovers. On that album I thought TKHLHC was the weakest song. Think the title is rather clumsy . Maybe a slightly different chorus on TKHLHC could have helped as I like the verses. Back to Man in the Middle. An attempt at a more meaningful lyric rather than a catchy Bang a boomerang. Was it the inspiration for Money money money....the rich man’ s world full of lobster and caviar?Think it was the inspiration for the album cover... limousine, champagne lifestyle.

Most bands can only envy Abba’s Back catatalogue and success worldwide. Not bad for a group whose first language is not English. Doubt if most bands could have had their success writing in a language which was not their first language and that includes Queen and possibly the Beatles. All bands have weaker songs. Thankfully Abba had very few and mostly confined to the early days. After the Waterloo album very few songs did not meet their usual high standard.... Dum Dum Diddle and Two for the price of one....the lyrics let them down. I do like the music to Dum dum diddle. And can’t believe that TFTPOO was being considered for single release from an album containing more obvious choices. I consider it at best B side and not an album track post Abba album. Should I laugh or cry with a bit more work on the lyrics would have been better on the album. I would have preferred one of the other versions of LAAPTMR on The Visitors. But on the whole I love the Abba catalogue. Some bands would have released more of Abba’s album tracks as singles had they had their catalogue.

Can’t help wondering if Greece was the best setting for Mamma Mia possibly because of the Greek sounding music to I have a dream. Could it have been even more successful had it been set in India to capture the massive market there given the success of Bollywood productions? .......The interest the movie setting would have captured in the sub continent of over a billion people. Or maybe even a South American location . Could it have worked even better elsewhere?

They set such high standards. I can only think of a few that I could live without. ...King Kong Song, Sitting in the palm tree, Two for the price of one and I saw it the n the mirror and I am just a girl. And some just stand out in a league of their own as the very best of a very good catalogue...S.O.S, KMKY, DQ,TNOTG,TACOM, TWTIA,TDBYC, EAGLE,LAYLOM, The Visitors, Slipping through my fingers, I let the Music Speak and Fernando.

The fact that the Greatest Showman has been 11 weeks @ number one with a bunch of songs which were unknown to the public proves that Mamma Mia 2 does not have to have recognisable songs. I bought the Greatest Showman but I cannot say that every song is memorable or great but it has succeded despite being panned by critics. Don’t see why Mamma Mia 2 cannot do the same given the catalogue of catchy and memorable tunes. Maybe 2018 will be the year of the musical.
