So there is going to be quite a few of us eagerly waiting to get our little paws on this new gem. This is something NEW for a change and not just a re-issue of a studio album. Can't wait to get the gatefold vinyl edition.
Just a thought though, wonder if they'll rush release a coloured vinyl edition in time for Xmas :-)

Well fingers crossed then for something extra special in time for Christmas or the New Year. If this live album is a big success unlike the 1986 release they may well make the effort and put out something for us collectors to cherish. :-)

Coloured vinyl would be wonderful - I would love that ! I have my download on iTunes ready to listen to - but I am not going to listen to this album until I receive my Vinyl - and then play it on my good hifi system - I think it's the only way to listen to a release like this - on vinyl - and really loud !

Well, I was going to wait until I had the vinyl in my hands - but I couldn't.
I have downloaded it on iTunes - put it onto CD - and am now listening to it on my stereo.
Firstly, I have to say how much I am loving this !!
What I didn't expect, was how emotional I would get. This is an experience that should be shared with others - it really is an amazing event.
Sounds totally awesome !

I always found it strange that new releases are out in Ireland every Friday, whereas the UK has to wait until the following Monday. Not complaining though. Have listened to the album a few times now. Frida does a great job, on MMM I like the way she just says in the middle 'this is MY song'! Overall, great to have something new and official to listen to. And a lengthy 25 tracks, great.

Is it safe to admit that I've got the album now, from a torrent, haven't actually listened to it yet though. Who thinks I'll be able to wait until Monday and listen legally?

I love how 'Live' it is - was quite surprised by some of the vocals - and personally, I find this recording to be a great showcase for Frida. I will never understand this thing with speeding up the fast songs and slowing down the slower songs. They did this on the 77 tour as well. I really do not get that they thought this was a good thing to do. And it's done with every song. I don't think it adds anything - if anything, it detracts from the songs. Seems to take away the impact of the songs. However, I still feel ABBA were an amazing Live band - they sound so amazing - it's such a thrill to hear a professionally recorded, fully live concert. I would love though, for one the clever fans out there to adjust the speed of all songs to the original studio speeds - and see how it sounds then

I was thinking exactly the same thing earlier, Roxy. Knowing Me, Knowing You is too slow and SOS is too fast. Even Intermezzo No.1 is too fast! I just don't get this. You are right about Frida on this recording - just listening to a quality recording of the live version of Fernando - beautifully sung by this amazingly talented lady. She positively shines in this concert recording. I don't know what Agnetha is trying to do on TYFTM - when she sings 'if I tell a joke, you've probably heard it before' in a sort of funny/jokey voice.

I've never understood the belief that ABBA were a poor live band simply because the songs didn't sound exactly the same live as they did on record. I can't be the only person who expects there to be some differences between live and record.

I figured Agnetha was 'making a joke' in that part - trying to add a little humour/personality - but it really wasn't necessary. Besides, I think that is Frida's department I find every song is a little too fast or too slow - some songs it doesn't seem to matter - but it is noticeable when you are so used to hearing studio recordings. And I just didn't see the point in it - as I said, I don't think it adds anything.

I agree Kevin - ABBA are brilliant Live - no one sounds the same Live as they do on a recording - but when they sound as amazing Live as ABBA does, how could anyone say they are not good ? Are some people just deaf ? I have been to concerts where the artist was not good Live - and there is simply no comparison.
ABBA were fantastic Live - the music, the voices, the timing, the professionalism - even to this day, I feel there are few that can compare - and ABBA did not have the technology that is available today.

When you see a band/group/artist Live, you want them to sing the songs the way they are on the recordings - not too much deviation from the formula - but, you want them to sound different, because it's a concert - you want it to sound Live - you want the voices to sound Live, not studio enhanced. It has to sound different to the recording, otherwise there is no point seeing them Live.
And ABBA deliver in spectacular fashion !

I love the separation of the girl's voices when they sing Live - you can actually hear both distinct voices very clearly. The studio recordings are beautiful and blended perfectly - and even Live they blend beautifully - but gosh it's good to hear them separately with such clarity

It was strange to hear Benny's introduction of Agnetha before I'm still Alive: Bjorn's old friend and the little blonde girl! He speaks very well, though. And Frida: I have a question for you - what do you think or our band?! Bjorn says a few words as well, I think Agnetha is the only one who doesn't speak, apart from a few 'thank yous'. So nice to have these rarities on an official release. For me, having seen this tour, it's a very special release, brings the memories flooding back.

So sorry Deb ! don't mean to make it tough on you - or any others who do not have the release yet - I do remember what it's like to be still waiting while others are already discussing releases. But I just couldn't keep my thoughts to myself once I'd heard it ! Lots of different feelings, opinions and thoughts - as I'm sure you'll see for yourself once you've heard it. I very much look forward to hearing your take on it afterwards It seems to be getting a very positive response from people thus far - it's really nice to see fans so happy with a release Dublinnov15th1979 - how wonderful to have the memory of seeing this tour while listening to the recording - that would make it so much more than just a great album - very special indeed. Kind of like when I watch ABBA The Movie - having been at the first Sydney concert. Makes my heart flutter to watch it - or even to hear a recording from 77 I will always feel sad that ABBA did not tour here in 1979. But at least we have this fabulous album now - and get just a little taste of what it would have been like

Dear fans,
The ABBA - Live at Wembley Arena cd is amazing! Question: is the song "The way old friends do" on the "More Abba Gold" cd also recorded in 1979 at Wembley? I think Agnetha's voice sounds on this cd stronger (in the beginning of the song). And at the end of the song I can hear a trumpet, which I can't hear on the "Live at Wembley Arena" cd. Am I maybe wrong?
Love from the Netherlands. ~XX~

Well, I've listened to it, does it really last almost 2 hours? It sure didn't seem that long. Yes, I loved it. I'm very happy with this release. I'll go along with those who'd like to see a '77 concert released.
