I still haven't seen Voyage concert yet I live in the North West of England so it would mean a 3 hour train journey down to London but due to being autistic I am scared about going to London on my own its somewhere unfamiliar to me so I would need a friend to go with me I haven't been to London since 2002 21 years ago when I was 12.

Hello dear ABBA fans, I don't know if it's the right place to ask but... is there any audio (or better) video footage of the concert? I already saw the concert threes times and I'm kind of obsessed...

Thank you Alan, I was thinking more about private audio/video files but it shouldn't be easy to find...

They need to look at their record sales and replace flops with hits if they want the show to go on and on and on.

WAISAD is not a highlight. I like the avatars but the eyes are dead. They give it away.

You're perfectly right to speak your opinions and preferences, Tinneke, but I'm curious: we haven't had a positive comment from you so far. What things do you actually like? It'd be great to get to know a little more about those who actually bother to post here - there are so few of us!
And, of course, the same message goes to Henry and Anneka who also post similarly as guests.

What is your verdict of the Voyage Concert?
Do you think it should have been *all* hits?

Maybe this is a question of personal taste. Some people only want the big hits. I also read of people who know ABBA mostly from the Mamma Mia movies and were dissapointed that some songs from the movies are not included. I also read a comment from someone who thinks "that a Concert needs to start with a big hit!" As this would be a rule for all to follow...very strange! I personaly like it when I can discover something new in a concert.

BTW: Most other artists would play very short concerts if they would play only big chart hits. The ABBA legacy of Chart Hits is not something many artist can ever achieve.

I haven't seen the show yet, I go in 2 weeks time.
It seems obvious that it has to be a Greatest Hits show to get those bums on seats. That doesn't mean all the songs have to be the big hits - 13 of the 20 are featured on Gold.
I am very plessed with the Set List. It includes some favourites of mine that weren't big hits - Eagle, Summer Night City,The Visitors, When All is Said and Done. These are the 4 More Gold songs. The show also has the 2 Voyage songs which I also like. Hole in Your Soul which wasn't on any major compilation or Mamma Mia! film is alson included.
If being picky I would replace Hole in Your Soul with Take a Chance On Me.
If you do have some lesser known songs then some hits will be missing. That said there are "must haves" that are included - Waterloo, SOS, Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen,.The Winner Takes it All for example.

While I can understand the case for a nothing-but-the-hits strategy, I think it's much better to mix things up a bit. Even when they were touring, ABBA folded album tracks into the setlist. The Mamma Mia franchise has a hefty dollop of lesser-known album cuts reworked for its story, and some of them have even resulted in chart placings. The quality of the album tracks allows for this. A slightly less predictable setlist makes for a more interesting experience, IMO. I like the idea that someone could go to a Voyage show, only ever having listened to Gold, and come away loving something they hadn't heard before. Long-running West End shows might have a hit showstopper, but the rest of the music is usually largely unknown and, in many cases, a bit less accessible. Audiences lap it up. I think the hit ratio on Voyage is impressively high.

I would replace Hole with ST, When All Said with Money and Summer with Take a Chance.

I haven't seen the show yet but I would replace HIYS with TACOM. It's a better song and well known. I don't mind there being a few lesser known songs but I am not sure about the opening 2 songs being lesser known.
Much of the focus has been how the ABBAtars look. But what about sound? It's an unusual mix. The original vocals but a live band.
I always thought it had to be the original vocals. Others on here said it would be live vocals from say Australia 1977 or Wembley 1979. It's a long time for band members to play the same songs at the same venue for over a year. Artists tour for months but multiple venues. Or have residencies but not for a year or two.

For me, this band is not so different from the Westend Musical Theatre Orchstras. Many musicians in London or New York are used to play Mamma Mia Score,Phantom Of The Opera Score, etc. etc. 7 times a week/250 times per year and play for years! We have Musical actors in Bochum playing 15 years or more Starlight Express!! Advantage of the Voyage Band is that they play ON stage while many Orchstras in Musical Theatre Play in closed rooms under or beside the Stage....

To be honest, the first 2 songs, I would exchange for new ABBAtar Material are Eagle and Voulez Vous. I know that those Shynola Videos have their Fans as well, but I could live without them.

Yes, those videos are the only disappointing thing about ABBA Voyage, along with the band doing DYMK. They feel like fillers.

I was at the first anniversary performance and though I half-hoped to see a new song before going to London, in the end I was glad they hadn't changed anything, especially the opening. The Visitors is amazing, as is Hole In Your Soul and it probably doesn't matter they're not widely known, because the impact of the Avatars, when seen for the first time, is so huge that you would be probably swept away by any song they would perform.
I think we would all agree that the two animations and DYMK would be least missed, if swapped, but it's unlikely to happen. DYMK is in the show to give the backing band and singers their moment in the limelight and the two animations are probably seen as a piece of art and some kind of break at the same time.
Personally I'm not sure which songs I would swap for others. As much as I would like to see for example Money Money Money included, I'm not sure which performance I would sacrifice. Probably Chiquitita or Fernando but with a heavy heart.

Is it a myth that the two animation ones are there to allow the avatar generators to cool down? I’d like to think there was something in that, as it would then justify their inclusion (but would also mean they’re the least likely to be swapped).

Is it a myth that the two animation ones are there to allow the avatar generators to cool down? Myth or not, the same has been said about the "video performances" (or how should we call them) such as Knowing Me, Knowing You or Lay All Your Love On Me. It makes sense, as there are never more than three Avatar performances in a row.

I really liked those two. As we know it’s not “real” anyway, the two video performances made a nice change and at least the ABBATars are still in them.
There’s also Waterloo which uses old footage, so altogether there are four songs where the ‘Tars don’t appear at all (aside from Björn’s brief appearance at the start of Does Your Mother Know).

I like those two videos too. Mamma Mia is also partly just a video (and now, when I think about it, I would swap this one for a new song). Actually, when you count the video part of Mamma Mia, there is quite a long sequence with very little Avatar performance - second half of Mamma Mia, followed by Does Your Mother Know, Eagle and Lay All Your Love On Me. I wonder it is a necessary precaution to let the system cool down before the second half of the concert.

I am going again mid July for 3rd time, was kind of hoping that 1 or 2 songs would be changed around. Not to worry it'll still be a very enjoyable experience. Though I am sitting on otherside of Arena compared to previous times so may get a slightly different perspective! Did read that the show is potentially running till 2026 at the abba arena.

Either douse them in petrol or shove them in a weighted bag adjacent to a river. I'm imagining that once the technology improves sufficiently to withstand the demands of the avatars without intermissions, the dodgy animation will be dropped.

I wonder if they would consider making the running time of the show a bit longer (if that's even technically possible). It is now about 90 minutes long. Why not extend it to 105 minutes. That way they could add three or four more songs without having to ditch any of the existing songs.
I would like to have seen Voulez-Vous in the show as an ABBAtar performance.
