Went to see the show for the 3rd time last night with a mate who hadn't been before. Been a year since the last time and was reminded how amazing it is... the opening of The Visitors is truly spectacular as is the segue of Lay All Your Love On Me and Summer Night City.
I was struck how beautiful I Still Have Faith In You is with all the backing vocals that aren't audible in the studio version. They really need to release a "live" album of the show eventually. Does anyone know what's being sung on the backing vocals?

Does anyone know what's being sung on the backing vocals? There are two songs on Voyage (album) where Björn and Benny perform backing vocals: Keep An Eye On Dan: Seven on Sunday to get him, she must have lost some weight She looks better than ever Funny how it really takes me right back to our first date Have I lost her forever I'll keep an eye on my Dan I'm a loving man you know that I'll never upset him I'll keep an eye on my Dan And I won't forget you'll be here on Sunday to get him I'll keep an eye on my Dan I'm a loving man you know That I'll never upset him I'll keep an eye on my Dan And I won't forget You'll be here on Sunday to get him Their backing vocals for I Still Have Faith In You are much less interesting: have it in us have it in us have it in us have it in us have it in us have it in us have it in us have it in us one another one another one another one another one another one another one another one another

I watched that video to me Don't Shut Me Down seems like a sequel to The Day Before You Came. That song was, like One of Us about reflection after a relationship. Don't Shut Me Down in its verse as similarities, especially vocal delivery with TDBYC. Yet the chorus is uptempo and Classic ABBA that we all knew before it got too heavy.

I actually recorded the audio of the full show on my phone on Saturday. It was third time I've went and without an official soundtrack.. it was the next best thing. The sound actually came out really clear and although not totally perfect.. its a great listen! If anyone wants a free copy for their personal use.. I can email to you?

I hope this is the right place for this. I'm a bit rusty and it's been a while.
Anyway, I saw Voyage back in April. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who's not been so I won't go into too much detail.
It was great, really great. I was quite tired because I barely slept the night before with anticipation but that's typical of me. We caught the train and did the tube, the DLR and all that malarkey. It's been ages since I've been to London but I soon got the hang of it again. Seeing the arena coming into view was SO exciting! I hardly drink these days but we had a couple of drinks which went to my head but in a good way! Loved the show in general. Yes, there were one or two things I'd do differently but what do I know about such things? Imo it really misses Take A Chance On Me in the setlist. I would definitely go again! Dancefloor next time I reckon. It really was a dream come true. I never dreamt in a million years I'd ever get to see the group I love so much (albeit in avatar form).
Here's something that summed it up for me: the woman sat to the right of me was crying at times, bless her. Also, I'd imagined it to be a certain demographic but there were all age groups and the excitement was palpable.
There's much more I could say and maybe I will later, but if you haven't been and you can and want to then you must. It was spectacular.
I can't help but think of fans who passed away without seeing Voyage and those fans far and wide that are unable to because of distance and financial reasons. I feel very lucky and blessed to have been able to go.

Those are impressive figures, nearly recouped costs, profit next.. will we then see a set change 🤔 Or go somewhere else...

Interesting numbers, which however doesn't mean the costs are nearly recouped. We must not forget that the operating costs must be very high - there is the live band and the staff at the arena to pay. The amount of electricity to run the Arena must be enormous. And they are paying rent for the place. Plus there are taxes. So they're not really even close to breaking even - those £127 mil. is just a gross income. It doesn's say anything about the net profit.

Michal, you are right those figures are production costs and as say there are running costs - wages, rent, electricity, insurance etc. Still, it is getting there. The show will probably need to stay in London until when the lease runs out in 2026. Sell out shows every night are fantastic. I guess tickets need to be expensive to recover costs.
Re-locating there are those running costs and setting up a new arena. I can't imagine Australia would be very profitable and certainly not anywhere in Asia where do don't have the fanbase.

They must be making good money with merchandise and sponsorships though. That is separate to ticket sales.

Voyage has been extended until the end of November 2024 (at least), with tickets on pre-sale now for newsletter subscribers before the general sale on Monday.
No show scheduled for May 27th yet, so they might plan a 2-year anniversary show again?

I think they realise it is a much better and stable investment staying in London only.

I think they realise it is a much better and stable investment staying in London only. I agree. We know the production costs were huge - and they still haven't recovered that despite sell outs night after night and mainly high prices. Then there's running costs. They'll want to make a profit before relocating. The London show doesn't just get British fans but fans from all iver the World. London is a major city and on doorstep of mainland Europe I can't see the show going to Australia or anywhere in Asia as has been suggested. Good price you got there Gary. I think I might go again.

The London show doesn't just get British fans but fans from all iver the World. London is a major city and on doorstep of mainland Europe I can't see the show going to Australia or anywhere in Asia as has been suggested.
I agree, it's unrealistic that the show could be profitable anywhere else but London. Australia's population is too small to make it a long-term venture. London's proximity to Europe's relatively large pool of casual and hardcore ABBA fans is also key. Las Vegas mostly relies on domestic tourists, and we know there isn't a very large amount of fervent ABBA fans in America, and that even among those American tourists who like going to any old show while they're in Vegas, I'm guessing a majority of them would probably baulk at shelling out so much money to see an ABBA show when they can see many other artists performing there, some of them more famous (to Americans) than ABBA ever were, and to top it all off, these artists are live and real, in the flesh.
So I get the feeling London will be it until and unless costs come down.
But eventually, costs tend to go down, thanks to new technology and competition. So there's maybe scope for a more cost-effective traveling show further into the future.

I think Robbie Williams did a residency in Las Vegas, and he means less in the US than ABBA does.

There was a plan for a residency but it was cancelled because of Covid. Many residencies are in small venues and not for very long.
Relocating to Las Vegas would be expensive. Running costs would be huge. It simply wouldn't be worth it for a short period yet how many people would be expected to go?
That said, Vegas would be more plausible than either Australia or any place in Asia. There simply isn't any sort of fan base for Asia.

^ Yeah. I would take that with a huge pinch of salt.
Just seen an advert for the Voyage concert on ITV (yeah I know!). Primetime just after the news.
I have bought a ticket for June - £21.50. Bargain!

I met up with a friend last night (well, more an acquaintance) and he'd been to see VOYAGE and loved it. I don't think he's a mega fan though, that's my impression. He didn't care for the animated section or the two newest songs ISHFIY and DSMD, which surprised me a little as I love both. However, I get it as when I went there was a definite lull when these two songs were performed. I'm guessing that a lot of the people who go to see Voyage only really know the old big hits. He didn't realise there was a live band at first and he reckons the concert would be better without the ABBAtars talky bits! He was awed by the lighting effects, as was I. Like me, he believes the concert would be better with the inclusion of Take A Chance On Me and Super Trouper. I'd include Angeleyes but that's just my selfish desire to hear songs I adore rather than what would get the majority of punters all hyped up. Still, he said he'd love to go again, as would I. Hopefully that'll happen as it shows no sign of slowing down in London.

Joseph Pretty sure your friend's reaction is typical of casual fans. Many don't even know they recorded the Voyage album. I agree with the bit about the cartoons. There was a lull for DSMD and also WAISAD but less so for ISHFIY If I was making changes I would leave out the cartoons (unofficial toilet break) and have TACOM and MMM included. Maybe Super Troup er instead of MMM. Here's my review abbachat.com/thread/1624/voyage-concert-review

To all who are yet to see The ABBA Voyage Concert, my advice please save up your pennies and give it a whirl. Go and see it when you can, do not miss out. I saw the concert yesterday and was completely " blown away ". It was " bloody " amazing. ( Pardon my French ! ) Never have I enjoyed myself and danced so much in the aisles. I really let go of all my inner inhibitions. I enjoyed the show from beginning to end. It was a joy to be very fortunate to see and witness the show. I booked in July as I happened to come across an advertising board in The Melton Mowbray Bell Centre and almost immediately reserved a seat via local coach trip amounting to £95. Great value for the full package of pick-up point, departure and return plus the concert tickets. I had a great day out and about in London yesterday. I am still on " cloud nine ". Can't believe I have seen the show.

Due to the way the ABBAtars were created, it's never going to happen, but I'll ask anyway - how would you feel if there was a 15 minute medley in the concert, to cram in 7 or 8 beloved tracks that would just make the concert too long if performed in full? Which 8 tracks would you want, and would you want certain tracks morphing into specific other songs ( the last sung 'Came' from TDBYC becoming the intro to On and On and On, for example)? Don't include any that are potentially going to be added anyway, like TACOM.
