Sorry, but why is it an ecobox? It isn’t being marketed as such. Presumably has no plastic which is good, but still plenty of unnecessary paper and cardboard! Not great to be distributing a more bulky box. And there is still a plastic disc in it!
Actually I was hoping there would be no plastic in any of the CD issues. Not just for environmental reasons but because I prefer card sleeves. I’d be a bit disappointed if the HMV exclusive I’m planning to buy on the day came in the bog-standard plastic case.

Has anyone got tickets/will get tickets for the concert.
I just had a look at the Voyage website. Wow! Ticket prices are high. And ABBA won't actually be there themselves?
Anyone know how long the show is expected to run? They are selling tickets May to October.

I've booked 30th May, going with a friend, paid about £100 each and yes its all one big RISK, but hey whats money for and sometimes you have to take a gamble. Plus havent been on holiday for 3 years !!
I'm really going for the experience and missed them first time round ( live ) so hoping this will be as close as Ill get to the real thing..
Also its a Birthday Present , my 60th !!! (22nd the actual day.. )
FYI DSMD survives another week in the top 75 of the UK singles chart at 73 and Gold slips to 14...its 1014th week in the top 100...

Was checking games and polls and one about the naming of a hypothetical new album. On March 1st 2020 amongst my suggestions were Journey and Now Voyageur. I tried to quote the post but ended up posting back in the games and polls. Back then we were just hopeful of a new album.

I haven't booked tickets for Voyage yet despite pre-ordering the album and getting early access. The site kept crashing, and it was all such a faff I got quite fed up with it. And HOW to decide when and where to book (sit?stand?)?! It got me quite irate. So I just put it out of my mind. I'll hopefully go once the fuss dies down a little.
As far as I know, the Voyage concert and venue will be here for a few years and it's common knowledge ABBA won't actually be there in the flesh (although perhaps on the opening night). That's the whole point of the digitalised avatars. I'm getting rather fed up explaining to my friends about it. They're in their 70s, they're not The Rolling bloody Stones, this is a new, incredibly innovative thing.

I am planning to book, I definately want to visit that concert! When: September or October 2022. I am one of the lucky persons who saw them live in Rotterdam on the 24th of October of 1979. This has been one of the greatest experiences in my life (there are some more but this one was soo great)! I was 13 years old. I don't know if there are more on this forum who have been able to see them live. For me it was soo great! How it was, that's what we know from the Live At Wembley video material and CD. It was the same tour, with sometimes the one evening a song in and another out, the other evening again one song in and another out. I have read somewhere that in the USA leg of the tour they played sometimes One Man One Woman, not in Rotterdam. There are some more slighty different tracklists existing from all the evenings of that tour. I also like to tell something about the very exciting moments in that concert. Of course all the songs were common to me! Except: Summer Night City came with the long intro, first time I heard that, waauw, Agnetha came with her song I'm Still Alive, waauw, The Way Old Friends Do, new, waauw, and all the elements of rock in the songs, different than on the studio versions, waauw, all the never heard before new intro's or outro's of the songs never heard before, waauw!!! All very exciting! I hope you can understand that all this has been a highlight in my life. And it was 42 years ago. My goodness.

I saw them at Wembley in November 1979.
Summer Night City is actually better live than the studio version. That into and all the backing singers make it special.
They did not do Mamma Mia then. Maybe because it was the Voulez Vous period and As Good as New which they performed is similar-ish.
I still have my ABBA ticket!

Me too, I also still have those tickets, 17 Dutch guilders, similar to €7,50. Unbeleivable! What was also interresting: the pauses the ABBA members took. Intermezzo No. 1: only Benny, the other 3 had a break. I'm Still Alive: only Agnetha, again 3 had a break. Why Did It have To Be Me: Agnetha had a break. So, counting: each had 2 breaks, except Benny, only one. I forget to tell that when Tomas Ledin did his song, I am not sure who were in the backing vocals. I remember I saw once a picture with Frida in the backing choir during the song of Tomas. But I don't remember that from Rotterdam. Those breaks were also used for changing from white to blue outfits. Mamma Mia was also not in Rotterdam, if I remember well.

I'm not sure who started calling it an ecobox. Like you, I prefer card packaging and the CD itself is an essential piece of plastic. When I was ordering it, I somehow imagined it'd be the same size as the lovely singles boxes we've had in recent years. But it won't be, of course. I presume it'll be like the boxes on Madonna's American Life or PSB's PopArt or maybe more like their Alternative set. I'm looking forward to having it. The cards will be a nice addition, but I can't see myself using the stickers. It's a pity that HMV closed down in Ireland - I really fancy that yellow vinyl in the ABBAtars artwork.

Hi this is my first post here. I've been a mega fan of ABBA for about 34 years according to my mother (I'm 35 and had early access to my parents' LPs) and their return is just some of the greatest news in forever. I've ended up giving in to the capitalists at Universal by ordering 16 copies of Voyage: the "eco box", the 2 picture discs, the 4 ABBAtar tapes and corresponding CDs, plus the white, green, HMV yellow, Amazon orange and indie blue LPs. Plus, due to the rumours of ABBA being at opening night I persisted and got a pair of tickets for 27th May!!!! 😍😍😍
I hope nobody expects Christmas presents from me this year haha!

I’ve never posted before but I grew up with Abba. I saw the Eurovision song contest on TV in 1974 and was hooked on them. I especially liked “Honey Honey” by Sweat Dreams which reached no. 10 in the charts. I followed their chart positions all my life.
I remember the 1979 concerts so well. They will be forever ingrained in my mind. It was just so exciting. I was at college at the time. I sneaked a transistor radio into my Economics lecture as the charts were being announced that day. No portable devises in those days like today. I hid the radio under my lecture notes as I listened to the countdown whilst the lecturer was droning on about fiscal policy. The charts were broadcast at 12.45 A.M just after Newsbeat. I knew Gimme Gimme was released and I waited to hear what number it entered the charts - no. 3. Then the DJ said “Abba has landed in London”. I could barely contain my excitement in the classroom. Gimme didn’t get to no. 1 - it couldn’t dislodge “Another brick in the wall”. It reached no. 3.
I saw them not once, twice or thrice but four nights at Wembley. I bought tickets from touts - about £100 if I remember correctly. I went back each night and saw four of the six concerts. I was absolutely mesmerised when the show began. Freda and Agnetha stood perfectly still and then suddenly burst into ‘Voulez Vouz”. They did a brilliant version, extended version of “Summer Night City”. After all the talk in the media about whether they would ever tour again, and I missed their 1975 concerts, I was determined not to miss this chance as there was always talk about them never touring again.
Every album they released in the UK was an event. It was BIG news.

Alan, I honestly don't why the deluxe box set of " Voyage " is referred to as an " ecobox ". I think it is part of a marketing ploy. Foreverfan, I am shocked at the price of the concert tickets. I don't want to upset or offend anyone but I think the cost of the tickets is extortionate. However, I do hope you enjoy the show.

Anyone know how long the show is expected to run? They are selling tickets May to October. At least five years, that’s how long they’ve got the land for. After that, the venue can apparently be taken down piece by piece and rebuilt somewhere else. In the Q and A, Björn said there won’t be a DVD or blu-ray release (no surprise there) so they’re clearly relying on people coming to London to see it.

I’ve not seen it referred to as that, but yourself and HOMETIME have seen it. Sadly it’s anything but. The production of it and the additional distribution costs (like flying first class, the more space it takes up, the less ecological it is) outweigh the lack of plastic. I paid about £43 per ticket for the show. I wouldn’t say that’s extortionate by today’s standards, but I can understand it might seem a lot to pay when ABBA themselves won’t actually be there. Although there won’t be a DVD release, I’d be very surprised if at least one person doesn’t post the entire show on YouTube. They might try and do a Kate Bush and ban all cameras/phones but someone will find a way.

Eddie - I agree the ticket prices are extortionate.
I looked at the website.and cheapest tickets are £83 with many up to £103.
It's a lot for a Special Effects show.
I am more interested in the music than the Abbatars show.

More about the Recording of 'Voyage':
Some more reflections from Bernard Löhr in his work together with Abba! 40 years after Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid went their separate ways, the group is now reunited and releasing a new album.
Bernard Löhr from Karlskoga has handled the work in the studio and is the residents' tool in the pursuit of pop perfection. Previously, in close collaboration with Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, he has recorded Abbasongs with, among others, Meryl Streep, Stellan Skarsgård, Cher and Colin Firth. Then to the "Mamma Mia!" movies. But it is only now that he has recorded Abba songs with Abba.
During the band's first heyday, that task was usually handled by sound genius Michael B. Tretow. Now it is Bernard Löhr from Värmland who bears the responsibility as sound and studio technician. He got to know Benny Andersson in the late 80's and has been Andersson's right hand man in the studio for many years. While working on the new album, Bernard has been the fifth in the room.
- It was a special feeling, Bernard Löhr begins. - The recordings started with a song sketch from Benny, Bernard Löhr continues. - Then we picked up musicians, from drums and guitar to strings, and together with Benny's finesse built up the songs. All work has been done at the National Mixing Agency and in Mono Music Studio, both on Skeppsholmen in Stockholm.
It all started in May 24, 2017. They began the recording of "I Still Have Faith in You" which also became the first single. - When the music itself, the basics, have been finished, the girls, or women, I must say, have come in and put on their song. They really thought it was great fun.
From the beginning, only two songs were made without any direct plans for more. - In January 2019, we continued with a few more songs and the rest are recorded this year." - Agnetha and Anni-Frid had not sung together in over 35 years when they now sat opposite each other at each other Didrik De Geer microphone and I pressed the rec button. But their voices sat together! Just like they always have. That sound that their voices create together - that no one else has managed to recreate remained. It was both strange and fun to hear. A large part of the band's magic is in those voices, right?
- Mmm, that's it. Plus then of course the songs themselves. The sound of their voices together, there is nothing else that sounds like it. It is of course a very cool job to try to capture - record - that magic in the best possible way. - But it's not just about the technical, it is important that those who are to sing or play feel comfortable in their role. That it sounds like they want in the headphones for example. Agnetha and Anni-Frid also want to be able to see each other when they sing, they sink through eye contact. It was a bit nervous before everyone got started and felt comfortable.
It's 40 years since the band split - how was the atmosphere in the studio? - It was probably as if the break never existed. Everyone thought it was very fun, everyone was involved and wanted to test new ideas and experiment. It was never just a song and then you went home. Everyone wanted it to be as good as possible. - Mostly it was just the four of us in the studio, some dog sometimes.
Did you have an ambition to recreate a classic Abba sound or did you want it to sound here and now? - No, I did not listen to the old records to keep that sound fresh in my memory. It is rather the sound that is in Benny's compositions. In addition, we use some musicians who were in the old days - guitarist Lasse Wellander and drummer Per Lindvall for example. All in all, it probably gives an Abba sound no matter how we try to twist and turn it. And when the voices come in, it will be Abba immediately.
As studio technicians, will you be Björn and Benny's tools when they have to carve out their ideas?
- Yes, that's it. I have worked with Benny for a very long time and usually know how he wants it. But he is also very impulsive in the studio, constantly coming up with new ideas. So for me, it is important to always be quick and open to new grips. Have all four always been in the studio at the same time? - Yes, when we have made a song order. Sometimes we have worked one by one with certain parties. But there are a lot of choirs and parts. Then they always sing at the same time. There is a lot of talk about Benny's role because he is responsible for most of the music, how would you describe Björn's role in these songs? - He is involved all the time. I think his lyrics are divinely good on this record. There is an incredible amount of work behind it. There is always a kind of story in the songs. Somehow I feel that the lyrics are often about themselves.
How have you experienced the enormous attention that the reunion, the album and the upcoming Abbatar show have garnered? - I had a feeling it would be great. We met the record company, Universal, before the launch and they told us that this was the biggest thing they had done. And the biggest thing they will do at all, because there is nothing that could be as big. But that it would be this big ...
Was there any nervousness about how the new songs would be received? - Yes of course. We thought many times during the work about how the reception would be. Most seem very positive. "I Still Have Faith in You" I think is one of the best things Abba has done. And "Don't Shut Me Down" is very Abba-like. It even has the galloping Benny piano. - Haha yeah! There are several winks to classic Abba grips on the album, I can reveal.

More about the Recording of 'Voyage': Thank you, Colin!
Some nice mental images in there: the girls facing each other while singing, among others.
I wrote here quite some time ago that I hoped there'd be a few postmodern touches, self-referential winks to their back catalogue, in their new work, and it seems as though there are indeed, with more to come! I'd love a little nod to The Day Before You Came, for instance, maybe by slyly inserting a bit of the original "hoot-hooting" sound from it into one of the new songs. We already have very obvious nods to both Dancing Queen and If It Wasn't For the Nights in DSMD, and it works a treat!
I did some quick research on those Didrik De Geer microphones they had for these Voyage album sessions. I guess these Rolls-Royce of mics date back to their - at the time - amazingly well-equipped, state-of-the-art, Polar Studios.
Well it turns out there have only been 35 Didrik De Geer microphones EVER MADE!
Only the very best for ABBA, eh?!

Hometime, I'm sure Bjorn dismissed it but said the album could tell a story on its own but who knows? The two songs so far could easily lead in and out of narrative. I like the idea of another movie but one that revolves around Christmas to include Little Things and Happy New Year whether it is via Mamma Mia III or just a Christmas movie. Trying to get all those A listers again may prove difficult. Christmas movies do well and would promote the Abba songs every Christmas. And if they have kept one aside for a new movie, specifically for a new movie it could qualify for Oscar nomination. Fun to speculate. The content of the album may provide us with a clue if there is indeed a story being told through the songs.

Sorry, but it’s a no from me on both Mamma Mia III or a Christmas film. Of those, I would say the Mamma Mia! option is the most likely.
Surely one of the best things about Voyage is that it’s separated ABBA from the Mamma Mia! franchise? The emphasis is finally on ABBA again? We shouldn’t be wishing that away. I’m happy for the album to be linked to the ABBATars show but not more Mamma Mia! trash. Enough is enough. It probably will happen though.

Well I reckon that a third instalment would be a Meryl-free zone, given that Donna snuffed it between movies one and two. That could go either way - will Christine or Pierce or Colin have an eye on top billing, or will they think "stuff that, if Meryl's gone, so am I"? I can't stand Mamma Mia but millions love it, so who am I to rain on their parade? A friend bought me tickets for the Dublin show years ago and I was so disappointed in what I saw. I sat with a fake smile, clapping along as required, baffled at the way the crowd just got swept along. To me, the glory of the songs had been ruined by luvvie diction, flimsy production and emotionless singing. The movie was no better. The second movie was way worse. The (good) material that wasn't assaulted in the first two instalments is a little darker, and it could be interesting to see how a less frothy movie would fare. The idea of rooting the story around Christmas is good - let's also remember that Bjorn wrote seasonal lyrics for the Arrival melody (Sarah Brightman recorded it). A musical dramedy with a seasonal hook could make for family viewing every year. Cha-ching!! If they had to do it, I'd love if they shrank the cast a bit. Make Christine Baranski the main character. Have her coincide with a significant ex at a Christmas or New Year's party and build a narrative of bad relationship, emancipation and redemption. Set it in New York or Chicago and restrict Julie Walters' gurning to a zoom call in the opening sequence. Give La Baranski a love interest who can sing and build a subplot around a three dimensional LGBT character (I still think that 'I Wonder' is a coming out song). I have room in my bank account for the royalties, in case Universal are reading.

Stating the obvious here, but Voyage will be the first ABBA album (of those that have proper titles) not to have a title track. Title tracks were common in ABBA’s day but much less so now. Arrival only has one because they decided to name the instrumental after it, and Super Trouper because they came up with a song to fit the title at the last minute, but clearly there was a desire to have them in those days. However, it doesn’t mean that one of the seven tracks we’ve never heard before doesn’t contain the title somewhere in the lyrics. I Still Have Faith in You is about a journey from then to now, and the album artwork suggests some kind of space theme. When the title was first revealed, the first thing I thought of was the Voyager space probes that visited the four outer planets in the 1980s. Or the “These are the voyages…” speech from various Star Trek captains! The live show will presumably be a voyage through time and space but I hope there’s more of a link to the album as well. Not necessarily a concept but some kind of link between all ten tracks. We can hope that there is a track called "Voyage" that isn't on the album but may be released separately. Big Country did this for their first album "The Crossing" - the title track is not on the album but was included as an extra track on a 12-inch single. A most odd situation, I know. This is really grasping at straws - I'm really not expecting ABBA to do this It's not that uncommon that the title track remains a B-side. Culture Club did it twice: Colour By Numbers and From Luxury To Heartache.

Why quote loads just to ask a simple question about title tracks?
Are there any Moderators in this gaff?
